This document discusses different types of hypotheses used in research. 5. Simple Hypothesis
Eg:The lower the level of
hemoglobin,higher is the risk of
infection

6. Complex Hypothesis
Eg:For a bedridden patient 2 hourly
position change,2hourly back care
and a high protein diet will build up
body resistance,will promote blood
circulation and will prevent bedsore.

7. Associative Hypothesis
Eg:The incidence of cases of
influenza and the month of the year.

8. Causal Hypothesis
Eg: Prevalence of bedsore is lower in
patients who receive skin care with
Vit E oil.

9. Directional Hypothesis
Eg:High quality of nursing education
will lead to high quality of nursing
practice skills.

10. Non directional Hypothesis
Eg:The teacher student relationship
influence student’s learning.

11. Null Hypothesis
Eg:Patients age is unrelated to their
risk of falling.

12. Research Hypothesis
Eg:There is a relationship between
smoking and incidence of lung
cancer.
