The workshop aims to introduce students to engineering concepts through the hands-on building of a hydroelectric generator. Students will learn about magnetic fields, voltage induction, and rotational mechanics. They will then have 25 minutes to plan and build their own generator by selecting materials like magnets, coils, and components for a water wheel within a set budget. The goal is to power a light or show a current reading. Volunteers are needed to coordinate, present, operate the workshop, and manage supplies. The estimated material cost is $7.75 per kit for the initial set.
