Technology
Amida’s Data Reconciliation Engine is an open source* platform built on
MEAN stack (MongoDB, Express, Angular, Node.js).
At the core of the DRE are Blue Button-FHIR parsers, CCDA generators, FHIR-
based patient health record store, and a reconciliation algorithm.

DRE: Data ingestion
Parses most Blue Button formats.
The data reconciliation engine (DRE) is a
production-grade open source component.
It can read many kinds of Blue Button
formats, including CCDA, HL7, VA’s C-32,
CMS claims, and FHIR.
12
DRE: Data model
Supports MU data elements.
The DRE supports all five required sections
of CCD files (allergies, medications,
problems, procedures, and lab results)
and three of many optional sections
(encounters, immunizations, and vitals).
13
DRE: Data reconciliation
Generates a master health record.
The DRE detects redundancies and
automatically de-duplicates health records.
It also recognizes partial matches, which can
be manually reconciled by the patient via a
simple web interface.

Medication Management App
15
Why we care about med management
157m Americans will have at least one chronic condition by 2020.
In about 50% of cases, medication is not taken as prescribed.
Non-adherence costs $100b/year in excess hospitalizations.

Amida and Orange Rx
Orange Rx is Amida’s integrated mobile app that:
• helps patients manage their chronic diseases
• tracks medication dosing for patients and caretakers
• gathers data on side effects
• integrates with existing personal health records
• exports adherence data in Blue Button and other structured formats

18
Scenario: keeping track
Amy is a young woman with seasonal allergies
She frequently uses the app to check her
dosing schedule, log medication
administration, and note any symptoms, side
effects, or other health-related
information.
19
Scenario: coordinate with family members
Sarah and John both have Orange Rx accounts.
Sarah currently manages their daughter’s
medications.
Their daughter, Addie, has recently been
prescribed Amoxicillin to treat an ear
infection. Sarah and John can use the app to
share, track, and export Addie’s medications, in
addition to managing their own.
20
Scenario: patient panel
Dr. House is part of a care management team
and wants to view his patients’ medication
adherence records.
He uses the Orange Rx web portal to view a list
of his patients, their current medications,
dosing events, and journals to track adherence,
complaints, or adverse reactions.
21
Turn knowledge into data
22
We need data about things that matter but are
hard to measure
Knowledge about the most important issues – like freedom, transparency,
and independence – is often distributed.
Until now, there’s not been an easy way
to convert subjective information into
actionable data.
23
Indaba by Amida
Indaba is a data collaboration platform that
connects stakeholders and experts.
It converts their knowledge into data that
you can analyze, publish, and use to make
decisions.
24
Use case: medical policy
Indaba provides a platform to collect expert insights, conduct peer review,
and translate assessments into data that can be analyzed and compared.
Indaba structures and collects qualitative explanations and quantitative
assessments to create a composite score.
25
Features
Indaba enables collaboration on a single and flexible platform.
Features include:
• secure login
• role- and policy-based control
• visualization tools
• multiple-language support
• optimized for low bandwidth
26
Data collection and management
From project design to publication and
dissemination, Indaba streamlines data
collection, management and collaboration.
Project managers can:
• automate tasks
• monitor real-time updates
• adjust to change
27
Evidence-based decision making
Resource allocation decisions are among the most critical leadership
responsibilities.
Indaba facilitates distributed, asynchronous coordination among experts,
implementers, and program managers.
