This document summarizes a study exploring the role of educational institutions in student-athlete community engagement. The study analyzed the mission statements, student-athlete handbooks, and community service webpages of 88 NCAA Division I and II schools. It found that while most mission statements and handbooks mentioned community service, Division II schools discussed it less. The study recommends that athletic departments update information, provide community partners with forms, and communicate volunteer opportunities to improve student-athlete community engagement. It identifies geographical limitations and suggests future research on corporate social responsibility and community organizations.
