3 Idiots is a 2009 Indian coming-of-age comedy-drama film directed by Rajkumar Hirani, with a screenplay by Abhijat Joshi, and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. It was loosely adapted from the novel Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat
INTRODUCTION
The Merchant of Venice* contains some of Shakespeare’s most memorable and complex characters. While Antonio is central to this play — after all, he is normally considered the person for whom it is named — audiences are inevitably fascinated by Shylock, the Jew who sues Antonio for a lethal “pound of flesh” in return for unpaid loans, and by Portia, the wealthy heiress, who marries Antonio’s friend Bassanio and saves Antonio’s life in a dramatic courtroom scene.
Although Shylock is the villain of this play, Shakespeare departs from the Elizabethan caricature of the cruel, hated Jew, as exemplified by Marlowe’s Barabas in *The Jew of Malta* (1589-90). His creation is more complex, fusing humanity with unrelenting cruelty and a strict adherence to the letter of the law. In this way, the Jew-figure becomes something impossible to define, performable as the clownish, evil, red-haired Elizabethan devil (a precursor to Dickens’ Fagin), or as the sympathetic Jew of our modern.
ON THE FACE OF IT ~ SUSAN HILL
The play revolves around two characters, Derry, a small boy of fourteen years, and Mr. Lamb, an old man. Derry got his face burnt on one side due to spilling of acid and Mr. Lamb lost his leg in a bomb explosion during the war. Derry is repulsive and has a very negative attitude to life, whereas Mr. Lamb is optimistic. One day Derry strolled inside Mr. Lamb’s garden and found him there. They both started
talking. Mr. Lamb tried to comfort Derry and asked him not to fear anything. To this, Derry said that he was not afraid instead people were afraid of him due to his burnt face. They either ignored him or pitied him. They called him ugly and made fun of him. Mr. Lamb consoled Derry by giving his own example. He said children called him ‘Lamey Lamb’ but he
didn’t feel bad about it. He asked Derry to face the harsh realities of life bravely.
Mr. Lamb tried to convince Derry that it is the inner beauty of a person that matters. But Derry didn’t agree. He said that even his mother kissed him on the other side of the face. He regretted the fact that he would spend all his life with half face. Mr. Lamb told him that his entire body was in perfect working condition. So he should not feel handicapped due to his half burnt face.
Mr. Lamb told Derry to look around for the so many interesting things. He
gave his own example. In order to remain occupied, he looked at the
buzzing bees and flowers in the garden. He listened to the sound of birds
and insects and enjoyed sitting in the sun. To this, Derry said that he too
wanted to have a big house with a big lawn. Mr. Lamb offered him to stay
with him but Derry left as his mother was waiting. Before leaving, Derry
promised to come back.
Derry went home and told his mother about Mr. Lamb. She warned him not
to go to meet him. But Derry was determined to do so. In the meantime,
Mr. Lamb climbed up a ladder to pluck crab apples from the tree. He fell
down and died. When Derry returned to Mr. Lamb he found him lying dead
on the ground. Though Derry lost his only friend, yet he became strong and
positive to face the world.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. WHAT ARE HUMAN VALUES ?
Human values are the virtues that guide us to take into
account the human element when one interacts with
other human beings. They are the many positive dispositions
that create bonds of humanity between people and thus
have value for all of us as human beings.
Human values are the foundation for any viable life within
society: they build space for a drive, a movement towards
one another, which leads to peace.
Human values thus defined are universal: they are shared by
all human beings, whatever their religion, their nationality,
their culture, their personal history. By nature, they induce
consideration for others.

4. ROLE MOVIES PLAY IN OUR LIFE
Good art will always affect people. That might be one
way to define "good art"- it has an impact/effect.
Everything we watch and listen to, affects and influences
us at some level or the other. If not consciously, it leaves
its traces in our psyche.
Cinema has perhaps the greatest potential to be the
most effective mass media instrument. Besides proving
cheap entertainment for masses, it can easily become a
means of mass instruction and mass education.

8. SYNOPSIS OF THE MOVIE
The Movie is Biographical drama Film.
The Movie is about, A struggling salesman takes custody of his son as he's
poised to begin a life-changing professional endeavour.
The movie is based on entrepreneur Chris Gardner's nearly one-year
struggle being homeless.
Will Smith stars in this moving tale inspired by the true story of Chris
Gardner, a San Francisco salesman struggling to build a future for himself
and his 5-year-old son Christopher (Jaden Smith).
9. HUMAN VALUES IN THE MOVIE
Persistence and Determination- The people who succeed have made up
their minds about what they want, which is why they succeed. Chris made
up his mind and stuck with it. That initially involved a minimum of 200
phone dials a day to people who often hung up on him. Most people
don’t have that kind of conviction, which is why they flounder in
mediocrity.
Toady in this modern era, it is very hard to have such a high level of
determination.
Also when you lose it is very hard to stand again with such level of
dedication.
Positive Attitude- In spite of all the crisis in his life he still looks forward in
a positive way and keeps his hard work on, until he succeeds.
Positive attitude this is the key element if you want to be successful
in life even things are against your favour.
10. Responsibility- Many lesser fathers would have given up, much like
Linda does in the movie. Unlike Chris, she is not dedicated to
making the family work, even though she has scarified much. Chris'
decision to be a father at all costs and subsequently buck advice to
give up his child to social services.
Today we see, parents think that providing facilities to their
children is their only responsibility and they do not provide their
children with emotional support and give them some time.

15. SYNOPSIS OF THE MOVIE
Bajrangi Bhaijaan is an Indian Drama Film.
In the Movie, Salman Khan stars as Bajrangi, an ardent devotee of Hindu God
Hanuman, who embarks on taking a mute six-year old Pakistani girl (Malhotra)
separated in India from her parents back to her hometown in Pakistan.
A little mute girl from a Pakistan village gets lost on her return back from a trip to
India. In Kurukshetra, she meets Pawan - a devout Hanuman Bakth - who is in the
midst of a challenge posed by his lover's father. In trying to discover her parents,
he develops an unshakable bond with the kid. He tries to get into Pakistan through
a path righteous to his conscience and later, with a smart Pakistani news reporter
for company and makes the search, a story that captures the imagination of the
public in both countries.
16. HUMAN VALUES IN THE MOVIE
Honesty - Salman, who plays true devotee of Bajrangbali, keeps
saying 'Hum Bajrangbali ke bhakt hain, mar jayenge, lekin jhoot nahin
bolenge‘. This only teaches us to be honest in every situation.
Today we see that people are selfish that they are not honest with each
other.
Have Faith in God - In the movie there are many instances that shows he
has immense trust on God, thus we get to learn that all you need to have
is, faith in God and rest everything will fall in place.
Always Helpful - Salman goes all the way to help a little girl from Pakistan,
who is lost in India and can't speak. He takes it upon himself to take the
child back to her hometown.
Today such things happen only in movies only. It is very hard to to
have such courage to risk our life just to help others.
17. Humanity over country - Despite being an ardent disciple of Bajrangbali
and belonging to India (in the film), Salman's character gives preference to
humanity over country. He selflessly goes all out to help the little girl, who
belongs to altogether different country (Pakistan) and religion.
This is the thing that differ reel life from real life. People prefer country
over humanity. If today’s Generation realises that humanity comes
before religion or country than half of the world problems would be
solved.
Fearless - Regardless of all the odds and oppositions, it appears Salman
fearlessly fights back and stands by his decisions.
In today’s World everyone have fear of something so its is very
tough to be fearless but what matters is that how you can
overcome your fear.
Kindness - Salman apparently plays a large-hearted character, who is
always raring to come to others' rescue.
18. REVIEWS AND AWARDS

“Bajrangi Bhaijaan is all about heart. Its emotional quotient is so high and the
storytelling so unassuming and transparent”- Times of India

21. SYNOPSIS OF THE MOVIE
The Dark Knight Rises is a 2012 British-American superhero film.
Featuring the DC Comics character Batman, the film is the final installment
in Nolan's Batman film trilogy.
A new evil force named Bane has arrived in Gotham city and aims to take over the
city and expose the truth behind who Harvey Dent really was. Now that Wayne
Manor has been completely rebuilt - Bruce Wayne has become almost reclusive,
rarely leaving the estate.
The journey from here onwards unfolds and makes the hero realize his duty
towards the people and he is back into action.
22. HUMAN VALUES IN THE MOVIE
STRENGTH - In central scene, Bane locks Bruce Wayne(Batman) in a cistern
like prison, has no chance to escape. Bruce trains and he doesn’t make a
giant leap out of that prison but he tries, tries at last he makes it out of
that prison. It proves that strength can overcome any weaknesses.
If we wish to overcome fear then we need to have strength to face
the fear.
HOPE – When the whole city is under the terror of Bane, the only Hope of
all the civilians is Batman. The movie very well portrays the felling of Hope
in the masses.
As shown in movie, real world also need someone or something as
role model to create hope in people so that they can also play their
own role.
23. SELFLESSNESS - In the climax, the bomb triggered by Bane is about to
detonate. Batman doesn’t have the time to think about other options of
switching off the bomb. Then he risks his life and take the bomb out of the city
and saves the city. When it comes to his or the lives of many he has chosen
the city for his life. This is one of the best part of the movie.
Today many people just talk that they can do anything for people or
society actually they cant do anything for them.
Now it seems that people like Bruce Wayne are extinct. people are now
selfish they just think about themselves.
RESPONSIBILITY – The whole Gotham city was under threat and people needed
their hero and it was the time when Bruce Wayne realized his Responsibility
for his people, even when the people were criticizing him and hated him, then
also he didn't backed out from his role.
25. REVIEWS AND AWARDS
