In 2019 we visited a remote village in the Himalaya that was severely affected by the Nepalese Earthquake in 2015. We worked with children in Nepal and in Bali to design a playground for kids aged between 4 - 11. This is the design brief given to a year 6 school class in Canggu Community school in Bali.

7. Step 1 - Brief
• It will be built between Nov 19 – Feb 20
• It’s for boys and girls aged 4 - 11
• Basic playground for young kids
• Challenge playground on the hill for older kids
• Make sure it is the right size and layout – use the plans (1:400 scale)

• A) RESEARCH
• What kinds of playgrounds can we design?
• What can we build playgrounds from in Nepal (Can it be from recycled stuff?)
• B) DESIGN
• Draw your playground on A3 maths paper with a birds eye view to scale.
• Make a shopping list - why did you choose these things?
• Create a price list.
• What areas of the playground are most important? What will these areas give
the kids when they are using them?
