What can artifacts and cave paintings tell us about early man? By: mia cothran myp1
Artifact #1 These stones are divided into categories such as ancient galaxies , animals prehistoric continents and ancient catastrophes . This artifact was found in a small village in Peru called ICA . It is believed to be ancient stones with engraved mysterious patterns. These stones have been divided into categories such as ancient animals, space galaxies , prehistoric continents and ancient catastrophes. This artifact can show humans that often times there would have been catastrophes , ancient animals and more. These stones were found in ICA, Peru.
Artifact #2 This is where you insert the chemicals This artifact was found in Bagdad Iraq 1936 . It is believed to be a earthenware vase 5 inches tall and a ancient chemical battery. This artifact shows us that as early as the third century BC the Persians living in the region already had batteries.
Artifact #3 This round ball is perfectly intact even today . This artifact was found in a hillside in South Africa. This artifact is a metal ball about one inch in diameter; some of them are engraved with three circular grooves in the middle of the balls. It appears that these balls are from the Precambrian geological age, which was 2.8 billion years ago. Some people believe that they are relics from prehistoric civilization. This artifact can show us that this could be used as a weapon or something different.
Artifact #4 As you can see this giant ball is much larger than a human figure ad is made out of pure granite. This artifact was found in a jungle in Costa Rica . It is believed to be a very large stone ball. Scientists soon discovered that this ball was made of solid granite, Archaeologists say that “they must have had very sturdy tools and excellent carving skills.” this artifact shows that even now hundreds of years later that this giant ball is still fully intact and is a heavy attraction. This “giant ball” was found in Costa Rica .
Cave paintings This cave painting is 17,300 years old. This cave painting was found in Lascaux France.  Some theories hold that they may have been a way of communicating with others, while other theories describe them as a religious or ceremonial purpose. This cave painting shows us that back then there were many forms of communication and that paintings is one of them. This cave painting is 17,300 years old The bulls are the most dominant parts of the cave painting. Did you know? That this cave painting was discovered when a boy was looking for his pet dog ! 17 feet (5.2 m) long .
Cave paintings. Human figures are more common in European and African rock art. This cave painting was found in South Africa an is about 3,000 years old. the paintings by the San people who settled in the area some 8,000 years ago depict animals and humans, and are thought to represent religious beliefs. Human figures are much more common in African than in European rock art. This painting shows humans that cave paintings can be used as a form of expressing ideas. This are little figures of men from a tribe. This cave painting represents religion, ancient animals and more .

What tools were used for the cave paintings. well, in many cave paintings discovered today, archeologists have found that most drawings upon the caves would have been outlined from natural paints [ from rocks] or other natural resources. something that could have been difficult to painters would have been that the cave paintings could have been destroyed at any point in time and there could have been hard or rocky surfaces.
Why did prehistoric people make these paintings anyway? well, from the information I have gathered it is quite clear to me that cave paintings were used as a form of expressing opinions on religion, cultures, sacrifices and catastrophes. in the cave painting found in South Africa it states that the cave painting was there to express ideas on religions. Also in the Lascaux painting it says theories say that it was created as a form of communicating with other tribes.

DID YOU KNOW? That most cave paintings were executed mainly in red and white with the occasional use of green and yellow.   The Maya of Central America believed that caves were the gateway to the Underworld! Most states define caves as natural features that can be entered by human beings and which are totally dark at some point. That they used charcoal as a main supplier of color.
