Italy (Introduction)
Italy today is a very beautiful and exciting country to visit. Florence, Venice, Mantua,
Ferrara, Bologna, Siena, Benevento, Rome, Modena, Genoa, Asti, Saluzzo, Lucca
and Turino are the city-
states in Italy. They are
the largest cities in
Europe. There are
many sites and places
to visit in Italy today
and some of them are
one of the most
beautiful sites in the
World! There are many
things that can satisfy
any type of person in
Italy, so come and visit
and experience some
of the most interesting
things. We now believe
more in to science and
the things we can see.
The idea of believes
and religion are no
longer the first step we
will take to solve a

4. Florence
Florence has a very good
economy and the writer, painter,
scientist, and architects are the
main subjects which made
Florence one of the strongest city-
states in Italy. The independent
city-state of Florence today has
the population of 60 000. Florence
have strong economy. Trading did
not make their economy strong,
because Florence wasnʼt a city-
state such as Venice which have
the sea cover around. Banking
have been the first source of
Florenceʼs income. Today most of This is a drawing of the wonderful
the successful bankers are from Florence, they building in Florence. ʻSanta Maria
have also established their banks throughout del Fioreʼ
some important cities such as London, Belgium
and Geneva. Some of the greatest works of art
and beautiful building are preserved in here, Florence.
As you can see in this photo,
Florence is a very morden city-
state today.
Florence is on the north-west
coast of the Italy.It is very well
organized, and the civilization is
very modern It took at least 30
minutes of walking from the South to the North of Florence. There has a big long river
going across the city-state Florence. The river is called Arno. This river have caused

disastrous floods (1966).
6. Rome
Rome take a important role in Italy today , but starting from the beginning it isnʼt the
center of the Renaissance. Rome have been divided in to three important periods,
before rise of rome, the Roman Republic, and the Roman Empire. Now we are on the
early Roman Empire period, which is after the Roman Republic have failed.
This is a very basic drawing of
the hole city-state Rome. It
show many important and
famous human made buildings.
The drawing also have shown
the wall going around the center
of the city-state, and a little wall
going around the place which is
in the right hand side of the
drawing.
One of the best place for people
to start on, was the places
beside river. As you can see in
the picture the river go across
Rome, was called Tiber river.
Without this river the Rome
wonʼt be able to survive through
centuries.
In the middle of the left hand
side building is called
Colosseum. The rome emperor
used colosseum for free games.
The games started with acts and
displays of exotic animals, and it
usually ended with fights with
animals. These games can be
held for several days.

8. Venice
Today Venice is the third largest city in the world. Venice conquered 40% of the
Roman Empire. Venice is a strong empire which can even controlled the land in the
Italy. Just like Florence, Venice have strong economy, which helps to support arts
and the artists.
There are many famous
artest are from Venice.
This picture in the left
hand side was one of the
famous painting.
The painter of this painting
was from Venice of the
Italy. This painting is know
as “Veronese”.
The woman in this painting
is the mother of the
Roman Emperor. In the
picture she is sleeping on
a chair with her left hand
supporting her head, and
right hand on the handle.
In this sleep she have a
dream that led her to find
the Cross. Her dream of
cross is also shown in the
painting -on the right hand
side, a baby with he
cross-.

Venice is a
city-state with
no roads, they
used river to
transport and
move around.

10. How to get around
There are very few ways to go to the city-states of Italy, if you are in some other counties.
People can go to different city-states of Italy across the sea or land.
The ways people go around these days: 1. boat / ship 2 . walk 3 . ride on animals (horse)
Go by sea/water: For the people in the counties that are far away and they wants to go to
italy, the best way for them is to go by boat or ship across the sea.
Go by land: Walk or ride animals wonʼt be a good idea, because there are many
mountains around the land of the country, Italy.

11. Local customs and manners
It is very important to know the manners in Italy, before going there. In Italy, carding
and spinning wool are the only two things women can be remain active on. Women
in Italy all need to do tasks such as making clothes, and food production, only few
rich women are able to escape it.
Where to stay / safe
For travelers the little hotel are the best choice to stay, which are safe and clean.
Eat and drink
Italy food is carefully prepared for good looking and taste. There are many different
parts in one meal, soups, roasts, salads, cheese, pastas, pastries, seasonings, and
some side-dishes.
Soups - Soups in Italy is very
expansive, it is mostly
served for rich people. There
are many different colours of
food are use to change the
colour of soups, in order to
have a good looking. To have
good taste Italian mostly use
sugar to sweeten it, and
sprinkle with seeds and
aromatic herbs.
Roasts - A very important
part in Italy food are the
roasts.
Salads - Italian always have
salads after roasts.

12. Wear/Clothing
Different colours of clothing have different meanings, and represent different things
or levels. Such as... Green represent love, gray represent sorrow, it also represent
lower status people , yellow
mean hostility, ren represent
nobility, black mean lower
status people, and blue in
low counties it mean
adulterous wives, and in
other places in represent
fidelity.
Here are some drawings of some kinds of Italian clothing.
Women wear dresses, and they always have a fan in their
hand. Men have hats on
most of the time,
sometimes they also have
swords on their belt as a
design. Italian loves to
have father on the hats, for
men, and fans, for women.
