Workers from various trades were observed working as scaffolders without mandatory third-party scaffolding training and certification, which violates safety regulations. Project managers and safety officers must ensure only scaffolders with valid third-party certification perform scaffolding work, and that human resources and projects request scaffolding training at least one month in advance to allow time to arrange training.

CERTIFIED SCAFFOLDERS
During recent HSE site visits, it has been observed on some projects that workers from various
trades such as carpenters, masons etc. are being allowed to work as scaffolders without having
the mandatory 3rd party scaffolding training and certification.
The following must be strictly adhered to:
 HR to ensure that workers without valid 3rd. party scaffolding training and certification
are not sent to work at projects as scaffolders/ for scaffolding work.
 Projects must ensure that workers are not allowed to work as scaffolders without valid
3rd party scaffolding training and certification (PM’s, CM’s, HSE).
 HR and Projects must ensure that Scaffolding Training requests (new and renewal) are
sent at least 1 month in advance to allow sufficient time to arrange necessary approvals
and to schedule the proper training through a 3rd party.
Potential falls from height, by unskilled workers is a class one breach.
Your compliance to the above is mandatory and it is a legal requirement to ensure only trained
and certified scaffolders are allowed to erect, dismantle and inspect scaffoldings.
