- 2. HRS 134-1: GENERAL REGULATIONS ____ We are not your THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE
- 3. We will cover the most important and relevant definitions.

- 9. (3) A shroud which is attached to or Partially or completely encircles the barrel and which permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the second hand without being burned;
- 10. (4) A manufactured weight of fifty ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded;
- 11. (5) A center fire pistol with an overall length of twelve inches or more; or
- 12. (6) It is a semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm.

- 18. "Electric gun" means any portable device that is electrically operated to project a missile or electromotive force.

- Hawaii State law prohibits Assault pistols. An assault pistol is a semiautomatic pistol which accepts a detachable magazine, and which has two or more of the following characteristics.1: An ammunition magazine which attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip. - This rule is pretty simple.
- If you see something in the movies
- And you thought that the gun looked really cool
- It’s probably banned by Hawaii Law.
- An Electric gun means any portable device that is electrically operated to project a missle or electromotive force
- This means that Tasers are considered an electric gun – and under state law, They are banned. The government thinks we would just shock everyone.
- Additionally, stun devices are also considered electric guns, and as such – are banned.
- Transporting loaded firearms is against state law. It is important to know when your firearm is actually considered loaded. Your firearm is considered loaded when ammunition is present in the firing chamber, revolving cylinder, or within a magazine which is inserted in a firearm.
- Under Hawaii State Law, there are two distinct types of firearms: Rifles and Pistols
- The differences, at least under Hawaii law, are based on the length of the barrel.
- A under Hawaii Law is any firearm with a barrel longer than 16 inches in length.
- A pistol on the other hand, is any firearm with a barrel shorter than 16 inches.
- Because of these length based classifications, it does mean that even some shorter rifles can be misclassified as a pistol under Hawaii law.
