The HR department provides support services to city leadership and employees such as employee relations, classification and compensation, benefits administration, talent acquisition, training, risk management, and payroll. For FY2021, the HR budget is increasing 6.5% due to rising medical benefit utilization and insurance costs. Specifically, property and liability insurance rates are increasing nationally while workers compensation expenses are also rising. The HR department accomplished various administrative regulations, systems implementations, and a safety award in FY2020 and has initiatives planned for FY2021 such as a compensation study and new background check vendor.
