procedures by developing an online job application form.

Selection & Interview Process
Applicants could apply for positions which matched their skill sets.
They could apply online for internships (for college students) as well as salaried positions.
The applicants could fill details pertaining to their preference (location, nature of job, etc).
The site also helped the applicants create an online resume.
The applicant information was then matched with the company’s job eligibility norms
recorded in PRISM and the eligible candidates were identified.
An aptitude test which test skills in basic mathematics, English, and reasoning.
The written test was followed by an interview.
Candidates who performed well in the interview underwent a fitness test and a background
check.
HR staff to concentrate on tasks such as checking the references and follow up.
The system also ensured that the application forms were completely filled, enabling the HR
department to quickly fulfil the HR formalities.

FedEx disregards gender, age and racial discriminations during screenings &
interviews and thereby assures equal employment opportunities to all.
FedEx is famous for its fair practice of selecting diverse, competent and culturally fit
individuals. Recruitment process is exhaustive and rigorous in order to ensure
fairness.
Interviews are structured in such a manner as to facilitate the interviewer to ascertain
if the interviewee will identify with and fulfil the holistic needs of the company. The
interviewee’s behavioural traits are also examined along with the technical skills.

ANALYSIS
Which employee are the best fit for specific jobs.
Package handlers perform physical labour and must be fit enough to lift packages that might
weigh between 50 and 100 pounds. This is an entry-level position.
Physically loading and unloading packages by hand,
Package handlers may be rotated through various positions such as a Quality Assurance,
Unloader, Loader, Facer, Scan Weight and Key etc.
Safe package moving and handling to help employees and minimize the risk of injuries.
Communicating with fellow employees and supervisors.
Physically fit.
Must pass drug screening and background checks
At least 16 years old
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
Must be punctual, possess patience and good communication skills
Must know how to operate heavy machinery
Good hand-eye coordination, must at be a high school graduate
Able to operate an Air Trailer digital package tracking system
Quick in identifying any hazardous material that is being shipped

Bravo Zulu (“well done”- a term used in the US Navy): The award is given to the employees who performed above
and beyond the call of duty. The award consists of appreciation from the management and gift certificates or movie
tickets. (The managers were also authorized to reward the subordinates with $100 cash bonuses instantly, in recognition
for their work).
Suggestion Award: Employees received cash prizes ranging between $100 and $25,000 for offering valuable
suggestions for improving business operations at FedEx.
Golden Falcon Award: Presented to regular employees who went out of their way to serve customers and exceeded
their (customers‟) expectations.
The Five Star Award: Considered the best award at FedEx, it is presented to employees whose performance helped
FedEx improve customer service, profitability and teamwork. The award is presented to 150 employees every year, who
achieved substantially more than their annual objectives.
Humanitarian Award: Given to employees who displayed courage and kindness to help the needy. Only outstanding
instances of courage and kindness are recognized by the award.
Circle of Excellence: This is aimed at encouraging team effort and hence is given to excellent teams that perform
exceedingly well.
Discounts: FedEx employee shipping discount, certain discounts at FedEx Office, and a variety of discounts available through the
employee discount program through LifeWorks.
Stock Purchase Plan: allows employee to purchase shares of FedEx common stock through payroll deductions. Eligible after 3
months of continuous service.

  • 13. RECRUITMENT- SELECTION- INTERVIEW OF CANDIDATES Recruited people from leading universities in all the countries it operated in. Offered internship programs which groomed people for future job assignments. Fill a 20-page application form. Automated its job application and applicant screening procedures by developing an online job application form.   • 14. Selection & Interview Process Applicants could apply for positions which matched their skill sets. They could apply online for internships (for college students) as well as salaried positions. The applicants could fill details pertaining to their preference (location, nature of job, etc). The site also helped the applicants create an online resume. The applicant information was then matched with the company’s job eligibility norms recorded in PRISM and the eligible candidates were identified. An aptitude test which test skills in basic mathematics, English, and reasoning. The written test was followed by an interview. Candidates who performed well in the interview underwent a fitness test and a background check. HR staff to concentrate on tasks such as checking the references and follow up. The system also ensured that the application forms were completely filled, enabling the HR department to quickly fulfil the HR formalities.

FedEx is famous for its fair practice of selecting diverse, competent and culturally fit individuals. Recruitment process is exhaustive and rigorous in order to ensure fairness. Interviews are structured in such a manner as to facilitate the interviewer to ascertain if the interviewee will identify with and fulfil the holistic needs of the company.   • 17. JOB ANALYSIS Which employee are the best fit for specific jobs. Package handlers perform physical labour and must be fit enough to lift packages that might weigh between 50 and 100 pounds. This is an entry-level position. Physically loading and unloading packages by hand, Package handlers may be rotated through various positions such as a Quality Assurance, Unloader, Loader, Facer, Scan Weight and Key etc. Safe package moving and handling to help employees and minimize the risk of injuries. Communicating with fellow employees and supervisors. Physically fit. Must pass drug screening and background checks At least 16 years old Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
