Essay on Malibu Fires
Malibu Fires
Human beings are able to adapt to almost any environment, unfortunately sometimes we take
advantage of our natural surroundings. We find ourselves amidst a struggle between our lifestyles and
nature. Although we affect nature profoundly with our activities, we in turn are shaped by nature s
potent forces.
Nature can be brutal to humans, but we must remember that it merely is following its course. As a
result, we must learn to coexist with it. Fire is a naturally occurring phenomenon which humans have
learned to deal with throughout history.
Yet when fire burns uncontrollably, there is great potential for monumental damage to all surrounding
biomass. The Malibu wildfires are an example of one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was the most devastating fire in the area, surpassing the previous worst fire in 1980 that burned 55
homes at the mouth of the San Gabriel Canyon. The total damage caused by wildfires in the San
Gabriel Mountains within the past 60 years amounted to the loss of 332 homes.
Statistically, Malibu and its surrounding area has seen much damage done to its vegetation and
inhabitants. There have been 24 wildfires that burned a total of 271,047 acres since 1927. These fires
have caused a total of five deaths and the destruction of 1,502 homes along with 830 other structures.
Recent fires include the Malibu fire in 1985, Dayton Fire in 1982 and Malibu
Canyon fire in 1970. In the Malibu Fire, 103 homes were destroyed; in the
Dayton Fire, 85 homes were destroyed. The Malibu Canyon Fire, which joined forces with the New
Hall Fire on September 25, 1970, destroyed a total of 135 homes and burned through a total of 85,000
acres (Wildfire sec. 2 p.1). Out of all the homes burned, 70 were located in Malibu and 65 in
Chatsworth (Wildfire sec. 2 p.1). Previous to that fire, the last time Topanga Canyon had seen a
damaging fire was December 30, 1956, when 74 homes were destroyed (Wildfire sec.
3 p.1). Another painful memory for Topanga Canyon occurred between 1938 and
1943, during which time three fires destroyed more than 600 structures.
1993 featured one of Malibu s most devastating

Lady Sing The Blues Comparison
Overtime the music industry has seen many varieties of artists, genres and songs. With each era that
comes and goes so does the kind of music that is popular during that time period. Even popular artist
become less popular over time. Unfortunately sometimes an artist does not receive their fame until
they are dead and gone. Although they may no longer be the rage of right now an artist will always be
famous for the music they sang and played during their times. Lady Sings The Blues is Billie Holiday

In Lady Day At Emerson s Bar And Grill we get one version of Billie which was her almost
completely out of it because she is very badly on drugs. She tells us her stories from parts of her life in
no specific order and they are very mixed. As she tells these stories she gets distracted and goes off
topic often. She even gets up during her performance to go to more drugs and when she comes back
out she is once again a different person. In Lady Sings The Blues she s tells you her stories from
beginning to end never leaving anything out. Billie tells us about her addiction and how sick she was
but she still is always clear about the things she is talking about. Throughout her life story she always
knew what she was doing and where she was going even with her addiction. In Lady Day At Emerson
s Bar And Grill we see Billie Holiday at one of her lowest points in her career. She can hardly stand up
and hold it together. She breaks down many times and sometimes goes on rambling incoherently. In
Lady Sings The Blues we get to imagine Billie at her absolute best. We hear about many of her great
and beautiful performances. During these performances hundreds of people attend, while in Lady Day
At Emerson s Bar And Grill Billie only performs for about 7 people in a not so popular place in

Research Paper On Experiential Marketing
1. Introduction The marketing concept is focused on the sence of satisfying consumer needs and its
main goal is to satisfy those needs by providing specific product or service offerings. In this approach,
brands form out a marketing strategy which identifies their target market and the 4 P‟s as the price,
promotion, place and product that are in accordance with their strategies(Kotler and Armstrong, 2006).

E commerce
Introduction Before the dawn of the Internet, people had to physically leave their homes to buy things.
Well, that s certainly not the case anymore. E Commerce has revolutionized the way that business is
done to make it more efficient and widespread than ever before. It can reach customers anywhere and
anytime in the world, and provides a fast and easy way for customers to buy products or services
without having to visit an actual store. It is win win to both business owners and customers. Also, e
commerce provides a fair chance to everyone, so everyone can be any part of the transaction process.
There are many successful e commerce online stores that are providing convenient experiences for the
public. All of them have different features and their own unique feature that makes them stand out of
the e commerce stores. I am planning to sell my Kindle online, so I chose 3 ecommerce stores that I
visited frequently before. There are Amazon, eBay and Alibaba. In the following pages, I will explain

A Brief Note On The Diesel Engine Exhaust Gas Emissions...
ABSTRACT
Diesel engine exhaust gas emissions and particulate matters have been a serious environmental
problem for a long time. Many research have been made in order to reduce these emissions since the
usage of diesel engines came into large. Major emissions from the diesel exhaust are NOx, SOx, CO
and Particulate Matters. Amongst these SOx, CO and Particulate matters can be reduced by using after
treatment methods like Catalytic Reduction, etc. Unlike these NOx reduction is a challenging issue. In
this project various types of technologies which are used till now to reduce NOx ¬has been discussed
and the advantages and dis advantages of each technology is mentioned. Critical analysis is made of

INTRODUCTION
Usage of diesel engine in automobiles is increasing worldwide because of its high fuel efficiency. As
the usage increases, the emissions from the exhaust gases also increases which affects the atmosphere,
thereby causing environmental issues such as global warming, smog and even acid rain. These
emissions are mainly due to non stoichiometric combustion, dissociation of Nitrogen and impurities in
the fuel and air mixture. Major emissions include Oxides of Nitrogen, Oxides of Sulphur, unburnt
Hydrocarbons, oxides of carbon and other carbon particles or soot. Significant measures are taken by
the automotive industries for several years to reduces the intensity of these exhaust gases. There are
two ways of reducing these exhaust gases are
i) Primary methods in which the exhaust gases are reducing within the combustion chamber. ii)

Fsu-Clemon Sports Industry Analysis
Sports is unlike any other business, the product is highly unpredictable, which in turn can heavily
impact the consumer s thoughts and feelings. This means the event can be managed and facilitated

For my men s event, I attended the FSU Clemson football game, a match up people marked on their

Essay about To My Dear and Loving Husband
To my Dear and Loving Husband
Romantic language in literature has been used for ages to express authors feelings for another human
being. This language has been developed through out the years to create ways in which different types
of romantic emotions can be expressed in writing. From the breath taking romantic novels of today all
the way back to the first writers of the Bible and the romantic books of Song of Solomon and Psalms,
romantic language has not only been used to express human emotions but also the role of these
emotions in the culture of the times. There have been numerous authors who dared to go beyond what
their society would have viewed as politically or morally correct. Anne Bradstreet is one of these
authors; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The title, To my Dear and Loving Husband, clearly signifies that this poem was intended for her
husband alone. Bradstreet did not live in a time where woman authors would have been very highly
respected for their work; this allowed her the opportunity to create very personal pieces because she
believed that they would never be published. If Bradstreet had intended for her poetry to become
available for the public she would have been forced to write much differently. Bradstreet understood
the implications of writing her true emotions and never would have done so if she had not felt that
they would have been kept safe from the scrutiny of her fellow puritans. The fear of being ridiculed,
banished or killed would have stopped Bradstreet from ever composing poetry for the public as racy
as the poems she created for her family especially her husband. Due to the fact that she believed no
one would read this poem besides her husband she was able to write more closely to how she truly felt
without fear or trepidation, this is apparent in the fact that this particular poem is much different from
many of her other poems.
There are many aspects of the poem To my Dear and Loving Husband which set it apart from most of
Bradstreet s other poetry. The poem begins with one solid, short and concise sentence, this is far
different than most of her poems which begin with a vague idea or a much longer complex statement.
This shows a change in writing

Correlation Between Age Structure And The Level Of Mortality
The value of 0.000681 found for the micro region of São Paulo can be broken down into 0.001602
from the effect rate and 0.000654 to age effect in the opposite direction. The remainder, 0.000267, is
the effect of the interaction between age structure and the level of mortality.
Figures 2 (effect of age structure) and 3 (effect of mortality level) present the results of the
decomposition for the 2006 2010 period for males. We use them to answer the following question:
which contribution is greater, that from changes in the level of mortality or that from changes in the
age distribution of the population? If the contribution of the mortality level is higher than that
estimated for the changes in the age structure, then variables that affect the level of cardiovascular
mortality, such as socioeconomic, environmental, cultural and behavioral conditions, for example, can
represent some of the main risk factors for deaths from cardiovascular disease. In this case, the age
structure contributes less to fall than other associated factors. Otherwise, that is, the participation of
the age structure prevail on the level of mortality, the importance of the first to explain the variation
between the crude mortality rates would be higher than the second. Check and detect which of the two
contributions, the level of mortality or age structure, presents more relevant at the state level and

another very popular choice for a small pet. A website dedicated to guinea pigs boasts on their front

A block of wood, on the other hand, has a glorious, rich history. Imagine that your beloved block of
wood was once part of a hardy, eighty foot tall tree, who had majestically grown from a tiny acorn in
the dense forrests of Canada! Who would want to be introducing a new pet to their friends and say
This is Bob and he came from the pet store and well...uhh...that s about it, actually ? The very thought
of it is embarassing. Score one for the block of wood.
If their pathetic past isn t enough to deter a potential owner from getting a guinea pig, next consider
the housing requirements of the creature. Unless planning to allow the guinea pig to rome free in the
house, a sturdy (and expensive) cage will be necessary. An absolute bare minimum of two square feet
of floor space is required, but very often cages offer four or more square feet of space. The smaller,
starter cages can cost anywhere from fourty to eighty dollars, and as the space in the cage increases, so
does the price. The cage must be placed with care in a location that is free from direct sunlight and
drafts. Bedding, another requirement for a healthy pet, is also costly and is constantly needed (Guinea
pigs soil their litter very quickly and efficently, but we ll get to that later). In addition to a cage and
bedding, it is also generally a good idea to provide containers for food (hay, scientific pellet mix, and

My Call To Love In Tish Harrison Warren s Liturgy Of The...
Being called to love can be summed up by Jesus s words in Matthew 22:37 40, when he says, Love
the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first
and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and
the Prophets hang on these two commandments. My understanding of how to love God and love my
neighbor has certainly been shaped by the material in this course thus far, especially by the consistent
prayerful attitude discussed in Liturgy of the Ordinary. By implementing spiritual disciplines such as
lectio divina and close reading, I have been able to center myself on this prayerful attitude and more
effectively live out my call to love God and others.
Through Tish Harrison Warren s Liturgy of the Ordinary, I have gained a greater understanding of
what being called to love means, and I have learned multiple practical means by which I can live out
my call to love. Harrison Warren illustrates the idea that our call to love is not one that is to be
separated from the mundane tasks of our daily lives; on the contrary, our call to love is to be embraced
in the midst of and through these mundane tasks. Throughout the first few chapters of the book, the
main idea has been to love God more deeply by having an attitude of prayerfulness, which one could
certainly consider a spiritual discipline. Whether Harrison Warren is speaking of the liturgy of bed
making or teeth brushing, the

What Is The Theme Of Marble Chappe
Marble Champ by : Alessandra Bontomasi
Have you ever said to yourself I give up right away and don t even try? Well there is a saying that is
when you work hard it will play off, and in the story Marble Champ by Gary Soto the main character,
Lupe Merdrano never stopped working hard and it lead her to a big prize at the end. The reasons for
this is that she was not good at sports first, then she practiced and practised, then it all paid off in the
future.
In the first little part of the story lupe the main character seems to not be very good at sports. But the
thing is she would say to herself I will never be good at sports. The first piece of evidence is that she
can t run very fast, for example in the story Marble Champ she would try and try to get her body to
move faster in the fifty yard dash and she would never beat anyone. So, this shows that she is not good
at sports because in most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

your numb do the work. Whenever lupe would get a higher score she would beat it or tie it, but at the
end she did win. This also says that it was an hard opponent this time and she had her troubles but
stepped it back up at the end of the match. Her last win was when she versed the winner of the boys
and lupe had a bad start but then won by 7 points. This all show that using skills and working hard at

Symbolism of Death Used in Because I Could Not Stop for...
In the poems Because I Could Not Stop for Death , by Emily Dickinson and Home Burial , by Robert
Frost, literary elements are used throughout both poems to get the message the authors are trying to
portray. One main important literary element that is used to entice the reader, is symbolism, because it
helps the authors describe something without actual describing it. Symbolism is also used because it
shows how significant an object is. Characterization is also an important literary technique because it,
gives the reader an idea on how the character would act, work, and their values in life. Death is a topic
that is used in both poems. Also, every character express their opinion about death differently.
The first poem is Because I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This refers to my theme because Death isn t in a hurry to take her to its final resting place, he will get
you there eventually, so why the rush? One last quote that describes the theme is in lines 17 20, it says,
We paused before a House that seemed/ A Swelling of the Ground / The Roof was scarcely visible /
The Cornice in the Ground. This quote expresses my theme because the speaker and Death reach their
final destination and the speaker symbolizes the grave as her home because this is where she will be
laid to rest for eternity.
The second poem is Home Burial , by Robert Frost. The poem is about a couple, Amy and her
husband, losing their son causing Amy to go through emotional turmoil. Amy is trying to avoid the
situation by trying to leave, but her husband is trying to pull her back, so he can figure out what s
wrong with her and as the poem continues the drama increases. The topic of the poem is sadness,
which ties into the theme of Amy and her husband s relationship is on the rock. The theme in this
poem is that everyone goes through sadness, but bottling it up doesn t help the situation. This is due to
the death of their son and as the story continues the husband is trying to understand, why Amy is
acting the way she is but she receives the message as rude and offensive. Most of the tension is
coming from the graveyard, which resigns on their lot that contains their relatives and son. In lines 1

Forecasting Methodology
Forecasting is an integral part in planning the financial future of any business and allows the company
to consider probabilities of current and future trends using existing data and facts. Forecasts are vital
to every business organization and for every significant management decision. Forecasting, according
to Armstrong (2001), is the basis of corporate long run planning. Many times, this unique approach is
used not only to provide a baseline, but also to offer a prediction into the corporation s future. In the
functional areas of finance and accounting, forecasts provide the basis for budgetary planning and cost

History Of Sam Phillips
Sam Phillips founded Memphis Recording Services in the early 1950s to record any and every artist
interested in performing at his studio, he had no particular limits on who the artists were expected to
be or what they were supposed to be singing as long as they made him money. The early years would
be spent primarily recording blues artists such as B. B. King, Rufus Thomas, Rosco Gordon, Joe Hill
Louis, and Howlin Wolf. Sam Phillips vision was to bring artists as well as genres together and work
alongside them with the objective to create an entirely new style of music. The studio s name was later
changed to Sun Studios, a name that would end up leaving a legacy that introduced the world to some
of the founding fathers and mothers of rock and roll. Of the countless artists recorded ... Show more

His philosophy was similar to that of Sam Phillips in that he was willing to accept artists from
anywhere on his way to the top, if he could profit from an artist, a deal could be made. He differed
from Sun Studios with his approach to as well as appreciation for artists though as he was careless and
burned relationships with supremely talented artists. He grew up in the Bronx playing guitar and piano
and composed music while still in his teenage years, all of which proved to be important tools in his
producing studio. He reportedly had the extraordinary ability to organize music with artists to
perfection in addition to a recording technique that some referred to as the Wall of Sound. Basically,
the wall of sound was a unique style resembling a raucous roar which was created by many
instruments being played as loudly as possible, mixed with an echoing effect. Phil Spector s success is
evidenced by the many top hits he orchestrated though his studio by artists such as the Crystals,

What Every American Should Know By Eric Liu
Interpretative essay
What every American should know by Eric Liu thoroughly examines the issue of cultural literacy and
its place in modern America. It takes on a convincing argument against E.D. Hirsch s book on the
same which included some 5000 things that he thought define cultural literacy and every American
should know. Liu argues that America has changed over time, becoming more multicultural, and to
capture the cultural literacy of the country, no one person should sit down and come up with what they
think everyone else should know. Instead he suggests that in order to capture the view of the nation,
every American should be involved in the making of the list. The most engaging part of this article is
Liu s idea that this new list that is crowd sourced should always change according to the times. It
should not be cast in stone because things in this day and age change really fast; what is a hit this
month will be old news in the next one. This is what cultural literacy really is; keeping up with what is
going on around you and being open to learn new things as they emerge. This can also be said of
education; in order to stay educated in any field, you have to be in the know of in terms of new
developments.
The conversation and debates on cultural literacy should continue in every place in America since it
helps us to understand and be tolerant of other cultures around us (Gay 2010). When we are familiar

Improvements During the Meiji Restoration
The abolishment of feudalism made immense social and political changes in Japan. Japanese citizens
were able to choose their occupation and were allowed to move without restriction. By implementing
a new environment of political and financial security, the government made investments in advanced
industries and technologies. The Japanese government built railway and shipping lines, telegraph and
telephone systems, and industries making sugar, glass, textiles, cements, chemicals, and other
products.
The government system was not the only matter that change during the era, but so did the educational
system. During the Meiji Restoration, Meiji placed a huge emphasis on education because they found

of the new laws from the Restoration government, the citizens are allowed to dress freely. Then in
1871, the Emperor issued a mandate requiring high officials to wear Western clothes during business

Myth Of The Empty Land By Robert P. Carroll
Myth of the Empty Land:
The myth of the empty land is a widespread debate between biblical critics; the concerns of this debate
lays within the construction of Judean territory during and after the destruction of Jerusalem leading to
their (Babylonian) exile (586 538 BCE). The understanding of the empty land refers to the land left
behind by its people, where the myth therein refers to the interpretation of certain texts and their
beliefs of what the land of Israel was like during their exile. The works of Robert P. Carroll will be
used as the primary basis of this interpretation.
Carroll uses various texts, to demonstrate the state of the land during and after the destruction and
exile, these texts also refers to several issues concerning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To achieve this, I will attend swiftly to the major difference pertaining the myth of the empty land; the
variance between the texts.
The Empty Land of Chronicles and Leviticus:
Under the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, the destruction of Jerusalem took place as a result of the people s
pollution of YHWH S holy sanctuary (Carroll,1992:80) with the destruction of Jerusalem, the exilic
period began. The biblical texts that Carroll use to argue the emptiness of the land is that of 2
Chronicle 36:17 21 and Leviticus 26:27 39, by making specific reference to the following verses it is
evident that according to these narratives the land was left desolated;
2 Chr 36:19 21 19Then his army burned the Temple of God, tore down the walls of Jerusalem, burned
all the palaces, and completely destroyed everything of value. 20The few who survived were taken as
exiles to Babylon, and they became servants to the king and his sons until the kingdom of Persia came
to power. 21So the message of the Lord spoken through Jeremiah was fulfilled. The land finally
enjoyed its Sabbath rest, lying desolate until the seventy years were fulfilled, just as the prophet had
said.

From ( removed HTML ) Overview: This study focuses on a longitudinal study, observing similar
patterns between romantic relationships, peer and family relationships. To do so, those patterns must
be identified before the individual becomes involved with a romantic partner. Boisvert wanted to
know of the patterns displayed n romantic relationships are influenced or reflected on patterns with
family and peer groups (2016). Assessment
In early adolescents romantic relationships become an imperative source of development (Carver et
al., 2003)
Due to adolescent curiosity with exploring romantic relationships, similar patterns continue into their
adulthood (Orphinas et al., 2013)
Before the commence of romantic relationships, the relationship of peers and friendship should also be
examined to identify if they have similar patterns as well (Furman Shafer, 2003)
Early relationship, e.g., family may inhibit or promote developmental interpersonal skills needed for
successful romantic relationships in adulthood (Bryant Conger, 2002) Participants

| * The overall message is the company needs to delay opening the new section of the plant and send
additional staff members to Germany for advanced training on operating the equipment to ensure the
new section opens successfully. * I expect Mr. Resnick to understand the benefits associated with
training and approve the request for additional training. * A problem solution pattern is the best
method for organizing the message. | InformationWhat information must your message include? | *
First, the message should include supporting information on how the combination of supervising and
training is too much for one person to perform for long periods of time. * Second, the message should
include details of how the operator training is complex and untrained operators require more attention
than what one person can provide. * Third, the physical layout of the equipment is such that one
person cannot keep track of what is going on at both ends and in the middle sufficiently. |
BenefitsHow can you build support for your position? What are the benefits to your audience if they
take the action you recommend? | * Extra training will benefit the company by allowing the training

Source of Value Creation
While in table 2 is illustrated, where the additional value from an increased leverage is going, we now
have a closer look at where the change in value is coming from. For this purpose, we divide the free
cash flow of the firm into pure business flows and cash flows resulting from financing effects and
discount them at a consistent rate reflecting the cash flows risk.
As shown in table 3, the total value of cash flow is increasing if debt is augmented. It is also obvious
that this increase in value is generated by the cash flows resulting from financing effects. But how
does this gain come about? In fact, table 3 illustrates one of the most important theories in corporate
finance, which says that the value of a levered firm is equal to the value of an unlevered firm plus the
present value of the tax shield provided by debt (Copeland, Weston and Shastri, 2005, p. 562).
Since the tax authority treats interest going to the bondholders differently from the way it treats
earnings going to stockholders, there emerges a difference in the tax payment the firm has to fulfil.
Actually, the firm s tax payment is positively related to its debt, as the interest is not taken into
account by corporate taxation while earnings after interest but before taxes are taxed at the existing tax
rate (which in this case is 35%). The increased value of the total cash flow in table 3 arises therefore
from the so called tax shield associated

Character Analysis Cyrano De Bergerac
The concept of a tragic hero exists when a character prevails the traits of bravery, honor, and loyalty,
much like the main character of Cyrano in Edmond Rostand s 17th century play, Cyrano de Bergerac.
In the year of 1640, Cyrano realizes his love for Roxane, his intelligent and exquisite cousin. With the
help of a young and handsome nobleman named Christian, Cyrano expresses his love for Roxanne
through eloquent love letters that Christian delivers to Roxane, pretending that Christian himself wrote
the letters. In due time, Cyrano proves to be a tragic hero through verifying himself to be a brave,
honorable, and loyal man.
Through his acts of bravery, Cyrano is able to accomplish many of his goals and conquer his many
plans. After ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
15 years after Christian dies, Roxane realizes that all along, it was Cyrano writing the intuitive love
letters. After Roxane s chaotic comprehension, Cyrano promises, No, no, my own dear love, I love
you not! (Rostand 190). Even though Christian has been dead for many years, Cyrano still stays loyal
to Christian by refusing to admit his true feelings towards Roxane and continues to persuade Roxane
that it was Christian who wrote Roxane all of the letters. Cyrano s terminal allegiance to the late
Christian displays Cyrano s loyalty concerning the people in his life. Another instance where Cyrano
proves his loyalty is moments before Christian s death. Christian wants Roxane to truthfully know that
all along, it was Cyrano writing the letters to Roxane. However, Cyrano acknowledges that Christian
is on his deathbed and wants nothing more than for Christian to feel at ease. Without confessing about
the letter to Roxane, Cyrano confides to Christian, I have told her; she loves you (Rostand 169).
Moments before Christian s death, Cyrano shows loyalty towards Christian by claiming to him that
Roxane still loves Christian. Although Cyrano could have admitted the truth to Roxane, Cyrano chose
to let his love for Roxane die along with Christian showing ideal loyalty to Christian. In essence,
Cyrano is a loyal man due to his loyalty towards his deal with

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Citizen Journalism
The advantages and disadvantages of citizen journalism and professional journalism
In this era, the popularity of citizen journalism has spread throughout all over the world. As a matter
of fact, more and more people are starting to take benefit of content publishers. This can be seen in
Television news, such as winter snow photos, traffic accidents or local sporting events. However, it
leaves a question, what exactly is news anyway? What do you need to be a citizen journalist? What is
its impact on today s fast paced society? Basically, a lot of people think this is a great thing and it can
be a good tool for promoting interaction between the media community and the community. There are
pros and cons of citizen journalism, we need to face this issue critically and dialectically (Techopedia,
2017). On the one hand, citizen journalism has some benefits that professional journalism can not
provide. Firstly, comparing with professional journalism, citizen journalism provides a wider range of
news and fills the gaps in mainstream media. The main body of the dissemination of citizen
journalism is ordinary citizens rather than professional journalists or professional media. People can
through the Facebook, microblog,Twitter to publish news which happened around their life. Delicacy,
beautiful scenery, sports events, entertainments, political commentary can be seen in Weibo, Twitter,
Facebook and so on. Secondly, citizen journalism could stimulate the interest of audience. Most

The Day With The Patients Of Regent Care
On February 5, 2016, I had the privilege to spend the day with the patients of Regent Care. I was
accompanied by my classmates from the Communication Disorders program. As I walked into the
facilities cafeteria we gathered around the round tables. As we waited for instructions our professor
gave us an overview of what we were expected to do. There were big squared plastic bins that were
filled with different kinds of supplies. As we assisted our peers get the supplies out of the bin we
began to separate and organize the supplies by activities. We began by cleaning the round tables with
water. After they were dry we began setting up the different stations. There were about five activities
which included getting their nails done, decorating a picture frame, decorating a bag, painting figures
as arts and crafts and bowling. There was an elderly woman sitting by herself in one of the round
tables looking at us set up the activities. I approached her by asking her if she wanted to decorate a
bag. She looked at me with a smile and said, si, claro con gusto. I opened the package of fabric
painted and lined up the paint in front of her where she was able to reach all five colors. As I called
out each color she told me her favorite color was green. I asked what she wanted to write or draw on
the bag, but she replied by saying, yo no se. Yo no puedo pensar. I was saddened to hear her say she

Epictetus Vs 90210
The Handbook vs. 90210
Finding happiness in life is the ultimate goal for many people; this task, however, is not easy. In a
world surrounded by temptation, it is often extremely difficult to distinguish the difference between
what leads to true happiness and what only temporarily gratifies. Innumerable philosophers have tried
to tackle this challenge, and each has left behind various theories on how to achieve happiness. One of
the most famous philosophers, Epictetus, came to the conclusion that Stoicism is the best way to find
happiness in the mortal world. Epictetus lived from approximately 50 130 A.D. and the stoic
movement began to catch on even earlier, around 300 B.C. (Epictetus 1). Stoicism, however, takes an

Perhaps this was plausible hundreds of years ago when the world was a much smaller place, but
modern society certainly won t allow for that type of behavior. The television show 90210 depicts the
modern take on happiness, and is quite the opposite of Epictetus teachings. The characters on the
show attribute opulent wealth and rising social status to the concept of the good life. While Epictetus
and the characters of 90210 have very different ideas of happiness and the good life, both parties
would benefit greatly from each other. 90210 and Epictetus show two extreme and opposite versions
of the good life, neither of which can be successful on their own. Achieving the good life a state of
well being, tranquility, and happiness requires a combination of Epictetus teachings and the modern
conception as depicted in 90210. Doing so will allow people to find a happy medium without

The Community Stability Act ( Csa ) Essay
The Community Stability Act (CSA) is a policy designed to reduce housing transiency in low income
urban and rural communities by providing housing subsidies to low income families, and financial
assistance to families at risk of or experiencing eviction. The CSA will alleviate poverty through
removing the various stressors associated with housing transiency, and have subsidiary effects related
to education and economic opportunity. This policy is predicated on one key understanding. It is
indisputable that the nature of the housing market has changed most urban low income households are
spending a significant portion of their income ( 50%) on housing expenses. The present is an
aberration of long held expectations that housing costs should not exceed 30% of one s income and it
needs to be addressed. However, the problem of housing costs is multifaceted, and addressing it
requires systemic changes (augmenting the power dynamic between labor and capital in the U.S.,
fixating on public and affordable housing rather than private development) that would not be practical
in the current political environment, or in the foreseeable future. This policy, in contrast, derives its
attractiveness from how it can be framed, and the widespread effects (from a geographical and
socioeconomic perspective) that it will have. The CSA will provide a housing subsidy to all parents of
schoolchildren (aged four to eighteen). The subsidy would reduce the family s housing costs to 30% of

Investigating The Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue...
Whether it be elite athletes or weekend warriors, all athletes have experienced muscle tightness that
impacted their athletic performance. I wanted to investigate whether instrument assisted soft tissue
mobilization (IASTM) was more effective at reducing hamstring muscle tightness than foam rolling in
high school athletes. Most high school athletes work very hard at practice and in the weight room and
therefore, hamstring muscle tightness is very common. I chose the high school population because I
want to work in the high school setting following graduation. I wanted to investigate if IASTM
techniques could be more effective in the high school to reduce lower extremity muscle soreness than
foam rolling. The case series by Baker, Nasypany, Seegmiller Baker (2013) investigated the
effectiveness of IASTM for treatment of hamstring tissue extensibility dysfunction. Tissue
extensibility dysfunction (TED) includes ROM limitations during standing flexion test, sit and reach

participants in this study consisted of three collegiate athletes who can had long lasting tightness in the
lower extremities, and exhibited hamstring TED. All patients had baseline active range motion

communism to many other countries. The Us didn t want communism to spread, so they came up with
the idea of containment. During this essay you will learn many factors of the Korean War. In this

Luckily there was a way to cut mortality rate, and that was done by MASH. According to CNN, the
US deaths totalled to 36,574 soldiers, and 103,284 injuries. South Korea ended up with 217,000
deaths while North Korea had 406,000 deaths. I concluded that both South and North Korea suffered
way more in total than the US did. Veterans can home with many injuries. Those injuries included
frostbite, trench foot, and many types of sicknesses. The VA states that the injuries could become
worse if they weren t treated, they could result in skin cancer, arthritis, and amputations. Luckily, there
was a way to reduce casualties and severe injuries from becoming fatal, and that is MASH. MASH
stands for Mobile Army Surgical Hospitals. MASH were located close to the front lines of battle. If a
soldier was seriously hurt, he could be rushed to a MASH were he would be treated. Once he was
stable, he was flown to a hospital to be treated. The US Army points out that MASH were developed
in the Korean War, so death rates went from 40 percent all the way to 2.5 percent. Many lives were
saved due to MASH. Without them the amount of deaths would be sky high. The end of the war
concluded in many deaths and injuries. But many lives were also saved by

From the standpoint of the labor process, these functions can be grouped around the design and
assembly of printed circuit boards and related components, the final assembly of systems (called box
build) and logistics and inventory related work (Lüthje, Schumm and Sproll 2002). Contract
manufacturers are serving a growing range of product markets from Personal Computers and servers,
over Internet routers and switching gear, to communications equipment (especially mobile phones),
consumer products such as computer game or television sets, industrial and automotive electronics, as
well as space and aircraft electronics.
The wide range of manufacturing services and products that contract manufacturers provide
distinguishes them from traditional subcontractors, or board stuffers , in the electronics industries.
Whereas such firms perform labor intensive assembly processes strictly controlled by the brand name
owner (also called OEM), CM companies develop and manage complex production processes, often
cross national in scope (Sturgeon 1997 and 1999). Contract manufacturing is also different from more
sophisticated sub supply arrangements in the IT industry, particularly from Original Design
Manufacturing (ODM). As opposed to contract manufacturing, ODM companies own the

Birthright Citizenship
Abuse the Use of the Birthright Citizenship
George Frederick Will, born in 1941, is a political journalist and television commentator. Will
attended prestigious colleges like Trinity College, Oxford University, and Princeton University. He
was very well educated in politics and educated students from Michigan State University and the
University of Toronto. His essay Subject to Interpretation , displays his opinion about whether
children of illegal immigrants born in the United States should be given the power of birthright
citizenship. Will gives his idea of how undocumented immigrants view their idea of birthright
citizenship as a free ticket to the United States. United States born children of undocumented
immigrants should not automatically be granted citizenship because the undocumented immigrants are
abusing the power of the granted citizenship.
In the United States, undocumented immigrants use the power of the granted citizenship to their
advantage because they want what s best for themselves and their child. Lino Graglia, a professor at
the University of Texas, wrote to a parent from a poor country: ...can hardly do more for a child than
make him or her an American citizen, entitled to all the advantages of the American welfare state (Will
363). The child of illegal immigrants born on U.S soil instantly becomes a citizen and the illegal
immigrants remain in the U.S to receive government benefits. The parent from the poor country
believes that their child will have

Immature Wuthering Heights
In Wuthering Heights, both Edgar and Nelly have interesting views on Catherine. It s funny how they
both have negative perspectives on her, but each have total differences. One person sees her as totally
immature. The other sees her not using her full potential. However, the two see Catherine in different
angles opposed to how they interacted, and how the had time to think on their own experiences. In
Nelly s point of view I can to relate to what she sees. She sees Catherine as a big baby. I agree with
her completely. Catherine just throws temper tantrums just to get her way. It shows every time she is
displeased. Also, its just as the prompt says, she does it to get her own way. It s shown how she gives
no care about herself, or others when she doesn t get what she wants. ... Show more content on

However, I m not here to do that. Both Nelly and Edgar s beliefs about Catherine in the end are
different. Nelly sees Catherine as an immature person. In Nelly s eyes Catherine is overly dramatic
and uses emotional responses to get her own way. However, in Edgar s eyes, he knows Catherine can
use her intellect as well as her emotions to prove her point, but her emotional displays alarm

Tennyson s In Memoriam Essay
Tennyson s In Memoriam
In Memoriam is an elegy to Tennyson s friend Arthur Hallam, but bears the hallmark of its mid
nineteenth century context, the locus classicus of the science and religion debate. Upon reflection,
Hallam s tragic death has proved to be an event that provoked Tennyson s embarkation upon a much
more ambitious poetic project than conventional Miltonian elegy, involving meditation upon the
profoundest questions faced by mankind. Scientific advancements, most notably in the fields of
geology and biology, challenged the beliefs that form the foundation of Christianity: the belief in a
beneficent God responsible for creation and ensuing superintendence and the belief in man s immortal
soul. By the mid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are Tennyson?s trip through Hades. By personifying Nature and placing ?her? in opposition to
God as a distinct power, Tennyson seems to imply a polytheistic belief that two, not one, seats of
power exist. In these passages it seems that Tennyson perceives Nature to have greater influence over
Earth and mankind. At the close of LV, God appears as distant and hidden in darkness, leaving man in
a state analogous with that of a child ? weak, vulnerable and desirous of care: he falls ?upon the great
world?s altar stairs That slope thro? darkness up to God,? (lines 14 15). Metaphorically darkness
represents the secrecy surrounding God and the answers that he holds, a motif that is reprised at the
close of LVI: ?behind the veil, behind the veil.? The repetition of the clause emphasises Tennyson?s
frustrations. Indeed God seems so distant and hidden that Tennyson?s faith in his existence is
weakened and he is only able to ?feel? and ?faintly trust,? not resolutely know. The lack of conviction
conveyed here through Tennyson?s semantic choices illustrates an emergence of disillusion with
eutheistic belief. The existence of the Christian conception of a loving god is called into question, and
it is implicitly asserted that the conception of Nature conveyed in these passages may be the true,
ditheistic, conception of God. That ?of fifty seeds she often brings but one to bear? (LV line 7 8)
envisages a large picture of organic existence, despairing of

What Is Regenhard s Role In The Life Of Charlemagne
In Einhard s Life of Charlemagne and Notker s Deeds of Charlemagne, the authors express different
views of Charlemagne however, they both portray Charlemagne as an influential king through the
advancements he made for his kingdom as well as his work with the church.
The Life of Charlemagne, written by Einhard, gives a detailed look into the professional life of the
great king Charlemagne. Einhard was one of Charlemagne s servants who was able to give the readers
a more closely analyzed view of the great leader reign. As one of Charlemagne s servants, Einhard
displayed nothing but positive views on the king s accomplishments. Einhard says that Charlemagne
was most excellent and deservedly most famous king (17) depicting just how fondly he thought of the
king. Einhard gives optimistic views about Charlemagne s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Charlemagne was a devoted Christian who looked to better the religion in any way possible such as
forging strong relationships with foreign leaders that could aid the religion. Charlemain cherished the
church of St Peter (37) and often gave its treasury a vast wealth of gold, silver and precious stones.
(37) This shows how he gave back to the church and help treasure the church and what it has done for
him. Einhard also describes how Charlemagne traveled to Rome to help Pope Leo after he became
blind and mute. Charlemagne traveled to Rome to restore the state of the church (38) Charlemagne
was eventually titled emperor for the work he had done for the church and due to the Pope s actions.
Both of these actions show just how much the church and all of its followers trust and respect what
Charlemagne has done. Einhard s description of these actions and his professional relationship to the
great leader help show how influential of a leader Charlemagne

The Cost Of Color As You Walk Down The Candy Isle
The Cost of Color As you walk down the candy isle, you see all these bright, brilliant colors from
chocolate bars to gob stoppers, Laffy Taffy, to suckers, multi colored gum, jelly beans, and the list
could go on and on. Research suggests that it s our eyes that lead the way when it comes to our senses
and our tongues that merely follow, but if we only knew the dangers we were flirting with every time
we put a brightly colored piece of candy or food into our mouth it may be a different story and we
most certainly would think twice. All these bright, brilliant colors we eat contain more than what
meets the eye and what makes our mouths water. They contain chemicals that are linked to numerous
negative side effects that potentially cause ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To solve these problems, there are numerous other countries that have decided to take action. Austria
and Norway have chose to ban artificial food colorings altogether. The British government urged the
food and restaurant industries to remove the six artificial food colors by December 31, 2009. (Four of
the six Red 3, Red 40, Yellow 5, and Yellow 6 can be used in food in the United States.) What s more,
the European Parliament passed a law requiring a warning notice (may have an adverse effect on
activity and attention in children) on foods that contain at least one of the six dyes (Color Us Worried,
2010). Also, big companies like Kraft, Coca Cola, Mars, McDonalds, even branches of Wal Mart in
other countries have already taken action. These companies have removed artificial food colors from
things like Kraft Macaroni and Cheese (yellow 5), Fanta (Red #40 and Yellow36), as well as
McDonalds fruit and yogurt parfaits that contain Red#40 in their strawberries, because they don t want
to have to put a warning label on their products. Although these companies have left them in products
here in the United States because they aren t under the same strict guidelines. Big companies such as
Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and Nestle have already chosen to be health conscious by beginning a

Bilbo Character Analysis
In the beginning of The Hobbit, the author Tolkien introduces Bilbo Baggins as an everyday hobbit
that is quite satisfied with the simpler things in life. He is completely content with staying put and
indulging in the numerous snacks and bountiful meals that are served in the hobbit culture. At this
point, Bilbo is not given any commands to set off on a journey of enormous proportion rather, he is
more focused on being very neat and tidy. Bilbo is more focused on the most minute of details of
where furniture is set in his house, and even to what time meals will be eaten, down to the very
second. The quest that has been assigned to the dwarves In fact, the quest for Bilbo is not only a
search for the treasure but also for the hidden aspects of his character. Looking at Bilbo in the terms of
good and evil Bilbo rises to be the leading force in the fight that the good endures against the evil
beings. He remains an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is very evident because in the most simple of terms Bilbo remains to be a very minimal hobbit
that enjoys the most simple things in life; the difference is that now he is more wise than the majority
of his peers. The adventures built him up to become the person that he is today, the very simple but
influential advice given to him by Gandalf says Don t be a fool Mr. Baggins if you can help it. (231)
After receiving these very wise words it hits him that simplicity is the key to success. Gandalf is
credited to being Bilbo s greatest teacher and influencer, without Gandalf, Bilbo would not be the
hobbit he is today. The Hobbit is a wonderful book full of lessons to be taught to us to make us better
people. Author J.R.R. Tolkien encapsulates the genre of fantasy and applies real world parallels to

Information/Measurement My information is based on Age and Gender. Most of my mathematical
data will use (years) as its units. However for standard deviation and the Chi Squared test the expected
values will be reduced to 3 significant figures. As for the P values and the Critical values will be given
in exact numbers. Mathematical Process As described in my introduction, I have found the mean,
median, mode, and range of both genders. I got this data table from
(http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0005061.html). This link leads to a table from the U.S Bureau of the
Census. The table is displaying the median age at first marriage between the years of 1890 2010. The
median of both genders were found in the 14th spot in the data table. The mode was observed in both
genders. Also observed was that the most occurring ages for both male and female happened in the
same 10 year time span. The process of finding the mean was shown below. Table 1: Raw Data

  • 2. Essay on Malibu Fires Malibu Fires Human beings are able to adapt to almost any environment, unfortunately sometimes we take advantage of our natural surroundings. We find ourselves amidst a struggle between our lifestyles and nature. Although we affect nature profoundly with our activities, we in turn are shaped by nature s potent forces. Nature can be brutal to humans, but we must remember that it merely is following its course. As a result, we must learn to coexist with it. Out of all the homes burned, 70 were located in Malibu and 65 in Chatsworth (Wildfire sec. 2 p.1). Previous to that fire, the last time Topanga Canyon had seen a damaging fire was December 30, 1956, when 74 homes were destroyed (Wildfire sec. 3 p.1). This language has been developed through out the years to create ways in which different types of romantic emotions can be expressed in writing. From the breath taking romantic novels of today all the way back to the first writers of the Bible and the romantic books of Song of Solomon and Psalms, romantic language has not only been used to express human emotions but also the role of these emotions in the culture of the times. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The title, To my Dear and Loving Husband, clearly signifies that this poem was intended for her husband alone. Bradstreet did not live in a time where woman authors would have been very highly respected for their work; this allowed her the opportunity to create very personal pieces because she believed that they would never be published. If Bradstreet had intended for her poetry to become available for the public she would have been forced to write much differently. Bradstreet understood the implications of writing her true emotions and never would have done so if she had not felt that they would have been kept safe from the scrutiny of her fellow puritans. The fear of being ridiculed, banished or killed would have stopped Bradstreet from ever composing poetry for the public as racy as the poems she created for her family especially her husband. Due to the fact that she believed no one would read this poem besides her husband she was able to write more closely to how she truly felt without fear or trepidation, this is apparent in the fact that this particular poem is much different from many of her other poems. There are many aspects of the poem To my Dear and Loving Husband which set it apart from most of Bradstreet s other poetry. The poem begins with one solid, short and concise sentence, this is far different than most of her poems which begin with a vague idea or a much longer complex statement. The remainder, 0.000267, is the effect of the interaction between age structure and the level of mortality. Figures 2 (effect of age structure) and 3 (effect of mortality level) present the results of the decomposition for the 2006 2010 period for males. We use them to answer the following question: which contribution is greater, that from changes in the level of mortality or that from changes in the age distribution of the population? If the contribution of the mortality level is higher than that estimated for the changes in the age structure, then variables that affect the level of cardiovascular mortality, such as socioeconomic, environmental, cultural and behavioral conditions, for example, can represent some of the main risk factors for deaths from cardiovascular disease. In this case, the age structure contributes less to fall than other associated factors. Otherwise, that is, the participation of the age structure prevail on the level of mortality, the importance of the first to explain the variation between the crude mortality rates would be higher than the second. • 14. My Call To Love In Tish Harrison Warren s Liturgy Of The... Being called to love can be summed up by Jesus s words in Matthew 22:37 40, when he says, Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments. My understanding of how to love God and love my neighbor has certainly been shaped by the material in this course thus far, especially by the consistent prayerful attitude discussed in Liturgy of the Ordinary. By implementing spiritual disciplines such as lectio divina and close reading, I have been able to center myself on this prayerful attitude and more effectively live out my call to love God and others. Through Tish Harrison Warren s Liturgy of the Ordinary, I have gained a greater understanding of what being called to love means, and I have learned multiple practical means by which I can live out my call to love. Harrison Warren illustrates the idea that our call to love is not one that is to be separated from the mundane tasks of our daily lives; on the contrary, our call to love is to be embraced in the midst of and through these mundane tasks. Throughout the first few chapters of the book, the main idea has been to love God more deeply by having an attitude of prayerfulness, which one could certainly consider a spiritual discipline. In the poems Because I Could Not Stop for Death , by Emily Dickinson and Home Burial , by Robert Frost, literary elements are used throughout both poems to get the message the authors are trying to portray. One main important literary element that is used to entice the reader, is symbolism, because it helps the authors describe something without actual describing it. Symbolism is also used because it shows how significant an object is. Characterization is also an important literary technique because it, gives the reader an idea on how the character would act, work, and their values in life. • 21. What Every American Should Know By Eric Liu Interpretative essay What every American should know by Eric Liu thoroughly examines the issue of cultural literacy and its place in modern America. It takes on a convincing argument against E.D. Hirsch s book on the same which included some 5000 things that he thought define cultural literacy and every American should know. Liu argues that America has changed over time, becoming more multicultural, and to capture the cultural literacy of the country, no one person should sit down and come up with what they think everyone else should know. Instead he suggests that in order to capture the view of the nation, every American should be involved in the making of the list. The most engaging part of this article is Liu s idea that this new list that is crowd sourced should always change according to the times. It should not be cast in stone because things in this day and age change really fast; what is a hit this month will be old news in the next one. This is what cultural literacy really is; keeping up with what is going on around you and being open to learn new things as they emerge. This can also be said of education; in order to stay educated in any field, you have to be in the know of in terms of new developments. The conversation and debates on cultural literacy should continue in every place in America since it helps us to understand and be tolerant of other cultures around us (Gay 2010). Source of Value Creation While in table 2 is illustrated, where the additional value from an increased leverage is going, we now have a closer look at where the change in value is coming from. For this purpose, we divide the free cash flow of the firm into pure business flows and cash flows resulting from financing effects and discount them at a consistent rate reflecting the cash flows risk. As shown in table 3, the total value of cash flow is increasing if debt is augmented. It is also obvious that this increase in value is generated by the cash flows resulting from financing effects. But how does this gain come about? In fact, table 3 illustrates one of the most important theories in corporate finance, which says that the value of a levered firm is equal to the value of an unlevered firm plus the present value of the tax shield provided by debt (Copeland, Weston and Shastri, 2005, p. 562). Since the tax authority treats interest going to the bondholders differently from the way it treats earnings going to stockholders, there emerges a difference in the tax payment the firm has to fulfil. Actually, the firm s tax payment is positively related to its debt, as the interest is not taken into account by corporate taxation while earnings after interest but before taxes are taxed at the existing tax

It is indisputable that the nature of the housing market has changed most urban low income households are spending a significant portion of their income ( 50%) on housing expenses. The present is an aberration of long held expectations that housing costs should not exceed 30% of one s income and it needs to be addressed. Luckily there was a way to cut mortality rate, and that was done by MASH. According to CNN, the US deaths totalled to 36,574 soldiers, and 103,284 injuries. South Korea ended up with 217,000 deaths while North Korea had 406,000 deaths. I concluded that both South and North Korea suffered way more in total than the US did. Veterans can home with many injuries. Those injuries included frostbite, trench foot, and many types of sicknesses. The VA states that the injuries could become worse if they weren t treated, they could result in skin cancer, arthritis, and amputations. Luckily, there was a way to reduce casualties and severe injuries from becoming fatal, and that is MASH. MASH stands for Mobile Army Surgical Hospitals. MASH were located close to the front lines of battle. If a soldier was seriously hurt, he could be rushed to a MASH were he would be treated. Once he was stable, he was flown to a hospital to be treated. The US Army points out that MASH were developed in the Korean War, so death rates went from 40 percent all the way to 2.5 percent. Many lives were saved due to MASH. Without them the amount of deaths would be sky high. The end of the war concluded in many deaths and injuries. But many lives were also saved by ... From the standpoint of the labor process, these functions can be grouped around the design and assembly of printed circuit boards and related components, the final assembly of systems (called box build) and logistics and inventory related work (Lüthje, Schumm and Sproll 2002). Contract manufacturers are serving a growing range of product markets from Personal Computers and servers, over Internet routers and switching gear, to communications equipment (especially mobile phones), consumer products such as computer game or television sets, industrial and automotive electronics, as well as space and aircraft electronics. The wide range of manufacturing services and products that contract manufacturers provide distinguishes them from traditional subcontractors, or board stuffers , in the electronics industries. Whereas such firms perform labor intensive assembly processes strictly controlled by the brand name owner (also called OEM), CM companies develop and manage complex production processes, often cross national in scope (Sturgeon 1997 and 1999). Contract manufacturing is also different from more sophisticated sub supply arrangements in the IT industry, particularly from Original Design Manufacturing (ODM). Will attended prestigious colleges like Trinity College, Oxford University, and Princeton University. He was very well educated in politics and educated students from Michigan State University and the University of Toronto. His essay Subject to Interpretation , displays his opinion about whether children of illegal immigrants born in the United States should be given the power of birthright citizenship. Will gives his idea of how undocumented immigrants view their idea of birthright citizenship as a free ticket to the United States. United States born children of undocumented immigrants should not automatically be granted citizenship because the undocumented immigrants are abusing the power of the granted citizenship. In the United States, undocumented immigrants use the power of the granted citizenship to their advantage because they want what s best for themselves and their child. Lino Graglia, a professor at the University of Texas, wrote to a parent from a poor country: ...can hardly do more for a child than make him or her an American citizen, entitled to all the advantages of the American welfare state (Will 363). • 46. Tennyson s In Memoriam Essay Tennyson s In Memoriam In Memoriam is an elegy to Tennyson s friend Arthur Hallam, but bears the hallmark of its mid nineteenth century context, the locus classicus of the science and religion debate. Upon reflection, Hallam s tragic death has proved to be an event that provoked Tennyson s embarkation upon a much more ambitious poetic project than conventional Miltonian elegy, involving meditation upon the profoundest questions faced by mankind. Scientific advancements, most notably in the fields of geology and biology, challenged the beliefs that form the foundation of Christianity: the belief in a beneficent God responsible for creation and ensuing superintendence and the belief in man s immortal soul. By the mid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are Tennyson?s trip through Hades. By personifying Nature and placing ?her? in opposition to God as a distinct power, Tennyson seems to imply a polytheistic belief that two, not one, seats of power exist. In these passages it seems that Tennyson perceives Nature to have greater influence over Earth and mankind. At the close of LV, God appears as distant and hidden in darkness, leaving man in a state analogous with that of a child ? weak, vulnerable and desirous of care: he falls ?upon the great world?s altar stairs That slope thro? darkness up to God,? (lines 14 15). Metaphorically darkness represents the secrecy surrounding God and the answers that he holds, a motif that is reprised at the close of LVI: ?behind the veil, behind the veil.? The repetition of the clause emphasises Tennyson?s frustrations. Indeed God seems so distant and hidden that Tennyson?s faith in his existence is weakened and he is only able to ?feel? and ?faintly trust,? not resolutely know. The lack of conviction conveyed here through Tennyson?s semantic choices illustrates an emergence of disillusion with eutheistic belief. The existence of the Christian conception of a loving god is called into question, and it is implicitly asserted that the conception of Nature conveyed in these passages may be the true, ditheistic, conception of God. That ?of fifty seeds she often brings but one to bear? (LV line 7 8) envisages a large picture of organic existence, despairing of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However for standard deviation and the Chi Squared test the expected values will be reduced to 3 significant figures. As for the P values and the Critical values will be given in exact numbers. Mathematical Process As described in my introduction, I have found the mean, median, mode, and range of both genders. I got this data table from (http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0005061.html). This link leads to a table from the U.S Bureau of the Census. The table is displaying the median age at first marriage between the years of 1890 2010. The median of both genders were found in the 14th spot in the data table. The mode was observed in both genders. Also observed was that the most occurring ages for both male and female happened in the same 10 year time span. The process of finding the mean was shown below.
