How to use toggl

Toggl is a time tracking
tool that you can use
anywhere.

It generates reports and
groups your time by
tasks, clients

and projects. It is also
simple and easy to use.

On your desktop, choose
Google Chrome as your
browser

In the address bar, type
‘toggl.com’

Then press ‘Enter’ on your
keyboard

You’ll see this homepage

Click on ‘SIGN UP’

Fill this up with your email

Fill this up with your
password

Then click ‘SIGN UP
FOR FREE’

Welcome Page

Scroll down and click here

Toggl is processing

Check out this simple guide

Then click ‘Ok, let’s go!’

Know that you can ask
questions by clicking

Click ‘ok, got it!’

This is your workspace

Type in here a description of
your activity

Click ‘CREATE A PROJECT’

Type in your project name

Click the drop down arrow
here

Choose your project color

If you’re working with a
team and you want this
visible

Tick on this box for ‘Public’

Then click on ‘Create Project’

To start the timer,
click ‘Go!’

Click ‘Discard’ if you want
to cancel

Click ‘STOP’ if you are done

This tip pops up,
remember it!

Click ‘OK, got it!’

This is your first time
tracking record

Additional tip pops up

Click here

This one shows up

It means you can click on
this drop down arrow

Notice that it was disabled

Click ‘Today’

And the footer is
displayed here

You can
remove it again
by clicking
‘Disabled’

Based on the tip earlier, you
can edit this

Just click it

Then change
manually
here

Or change
the start or
stop here

Then this
time is
automatically
adjusted

Then click
‘APPLY’

This is your adjusted time
record

By the way,
you may also
change

the date here
if you need to

Next, we’ll see how to add
time track manually

Type your activity here

Click ‘SELECT PROJECT’

Let’s say it’s the same
project, so click here

Then click ‘Add manually’

This tip tells you that you
can use this green

switch arrow to either add
duration only

Like this

or use the time start
and finish

Let’s use the time duration

Click and adjust

Then click the save button

Here’s your new entry

ADDING A CLIENT

Click on ‘Projects’

Hover your cursor
on this box

Click the drop down arrow

Click Edit

Click ‘SELECT CLIENT’

Type in the client’s
name here

Click ‘Create client’

Client was added

Click ‘Done’

Click ‘Timer’

And see that your
workspace is updated

If you want to continue
any previous activity

Hover your cursor
on the box

And click the drop down
arrow

Click ‘Continue’

And the timer
automatically starts

Click ‘Stop’ when you
are done

New entry was added

Another option in resuming
an activity is by hovering

your cursor here and click
on the green arrow

And the next steps will
just be the same

As we did earlier

If you need to delete or
create a tag for

an entry, click any of
these two

Let’s now try time
tracking for another
project

Enter your activity

Click ‘Select Project’

Click ‘Create Project’

Enter project name

Pick a project’s color code

Tick here if you want

Click ‘Create Project’

Click ‘Go’

Click ‘Stop’ when done

A record of activity for a
different project is here

Which you can easily
identify because of the color

You may add a client for
this project following the

steps discussed earlier

To add members to
your team, click Team

Add one email per line

Let’s use one email only
for this trial

A window pops up with
this remark

Click ‘Show me how’ if you
want more information

Otherwise, click here to close
this window

Here you can see that the
new member was added

But hasn’t joined yet

Since the invited member
was sent an email,

a given link in that email
can be used to accept

the invitation and join the
team in Toggl

Once the invited member
joined, the name will
appear here

You can add more members
by entering emails here

And click ‘Invite’

INTEGRATING TOGGL WITH
TRELLO

First, you need to install
Toggl extension

While you remain logged in
to toggl, look for the

3-line icon at the upper right
corner of your browser

Click on
‘Settings’

Click ‘Extensions’

Scroll down

Click ‘Get more extensions’

Type in ‘toggl’ here

Then press ‘Enter’ on your
keyboard

This is the toggl button that
we are looking for

Click ‘ADD TO CHROME’

Click ‘Add extension’

Toggl icon is now added to
your Chrome browser

This will turn red once you
activate the toggl timer

Grey means that there’s no
running time entry

Now, type in ‘trello.com’ in
the address bar

Then press ‘Enter’

Type in your email

And your password

Then click ‘Log In’

Your Trello page is shown

Create a Board and list in
Trello then set your tasks

Click on a card

At the back card you’ll see
the toggl icon

Once you’re ready to do the
task, click here

The task appears
automatically

Click on this drop
down button

Click on the project’s name

The related client will be
displayed

Next is to add tags but we
haven’t added any tag

You can add tags through
this drop down menu,

through this tag icon

Or through the
workspace settings

Let’s try the first one and
click on ‘Tags’

Type in a tag you want to
give to your time entry

Click ‘Create tag’

Then the green button
‘Apply’

Here’s your created tag

Now we can go back here
and click this

Click the tag

Click save tags

Click ‘Done’

You can edit or delete the tag
in the workspace settings

Click ‘Tags’

You can change this tag by
clicking on the pen-shaped
icon

Modify here

Then click ‘Save’

You can add new
tags here

Tags can help you filter
reports

and see the overview of
different categories like
projects or clients

So continue to create
more tags for your other
time entries

On the same page, you
can change settings here

Add and edit clients here

To see the actual time
running, click this toggl icon

You can see here the
running time

Click ‘Stop timer’ or ‘Stop’
when you’re done with the
task

Easy, isn’t it?

You can check other

Click here to log out
