15x 2 + 26x + 8 ax 2 + bx + c
Step 1: First take ac and multiply. Then you have to do GCF (this is Greatest Common Factor.), which are just numbers that can be multiplied to get 120. 15x 2 + 26x + 8 ac= 15*8= 120 1,120 2,60 3,40 4,30 5,24 6,20 8,15 10,12
Step 2: Now if you noticed I highlighted in orange two numbers The numbers are 6,20. Now why did I highlight these numbers. Well if you remember the problem it was 15x 2 + 26x + 8. 6+20=26. Now its time to start factoring the problem which is now. 15x 2 +6x+20x+8
Step 3: You have to find the greatest common factor between the matching colored numbers. 15x 2 + 6x + 20x + 8 3x(5x+2) 4(5x+2) Then see how many times the three can go into 15 and 6 and then see how many times 4 goes into 20 and 8.
Step 4: Now take the previous problem … 3x(5x+2) 4(5x+2) And combine it… (3x+4) (5x+2)…and this is your final answer.
