Introduction
In Odoo, the two-step outgoing shipment process involves breaking down the
delivery process into two distinct stages. This approach offers several benefits,
including enhanced inventory control, improved order accuracy, and streamlined
operations. This method consist of two steps; Step 1: Picking and Packing, Step
2: Shipping and Delivery.
This approach can significantly reduce processing time, labor costs, and
potential errors.
Let’s see how we can manage the outgoing shipment in two steps in Odoo 18
inventory.

Let us dive into the Inventory module first. Then go to the
Configuration menu to choose Warehouses under the Warehouse
Management

Select the Warehouse 1 from the list to get the form view and
select the Outgoing Shipment as Pick then Deliver (2 steps)
from the options.

6. Enterprise
Move on with the Sales module to manage with the sale order
creation. Click on the New button to create a new quotation and
select the necessary details such as the customer, products, etc.

7. Enterprise
Make sure that the warehouse we select for the sale order is
‘Warehouse 1’ for which we have enabled the 2 steps delivery
previously.

Click on confirm button on the top to make the quotation as sale
order. Then, comes a new smart button on the top which directs us
to the deliveries. Here, its count will be shown as 1.

Just click on it to see that the two steps delivery is there as we have
enabled the Pick then Deliver (2 steps) delivery for the warehouse.
Note that the Source location is ‘WH1/Stock’ and the destination
location is WH1/Output

We can go to Inventory module to see the overview of transfers.

Click on the selected delivery orders box for the warehouse 1 to
see all the transactions which are in waiting state. From there, we
would be able to see our transfer as

Open the marked transfer with reference ‘WH1/PICK/00003’ and
validate it to make it in the Done state as.

Going back to the Sales module again and for our sale order with
number ‘S00087’, we can see that, there are two deliveries now as

Clicking on it, it shows
That is, with the completion of the first picking transfer
‘WH1/PICK/00003’, the new outgoing transfer ‘WH1/OUT/00035’ is
created by Odoo automatically which has the source and destination
locations as ‘WH1/Output’ and ‘Partners/Customers’ respectively.

These transfers can be managed from the Inventory module also.
For that, go to the Overview page first.

Validating the transfer will complete the two-step outgoing delivery
process.
