SUTOL 2016: IBM Connections Deployment Best and Worst Practicespanagenda
A presentation by Christoph Stoettner
Depending on deployment size, operating system and security considerations you have different options to configure IBM Connections. This session will show good and bad examples on how to do it from multiple customer deployments. IBM Champion Christoph Stoettner will describe things he found and how you can optimize your systems. This is valuable information that will help you to be successful in your next IBM Connections deployment project.
This session covers new improvements that will be introduced in WildFly 9:
• Wildfly-core will be extracted from the codebase and the ability to assemble a server on top of it will be introduced. WildFly 9 will be provided in two versions: Wildfly Web and Wildfly Full but users will be able to create their custom packaging of WildFly.
• Users will be able to shutdown the application server in a graceful manner - after the shutdown command is executed server will reject new requests and allow existing requests to finish before it shuts down.
• Support for HTTP/2, a new version of HTTP protocol based on SPDY, will be introduced.
• Users will be able to use WildFly as a load balancer. Consequently, it will be possible to manage the balancer with the same tools that are used to manage the rest of the domain. What is more, users will be able to use more efficient protocols, such as HTTP/2, for communication between the balancer and backend servers.
• An OpenShift cartridge, which will enable users to use WildFly 9 in cloud environment, will be provided.
• WildFly 9 will use OpenJDK ORB library instead of JacORB.

[WSO2] Deployment Synchronizer for Deployment Artifact Synchronization Betwee...Kasun Gajasinghe
Setting up a cluster is important when developing enterprise software and deploying them in production environments. Distributing deployment artifacts & related metadata to all nodes in a homogeneous cluster is a typical requirement for a clustered deployment of any middleware platform. In such a cluster, all nodes should contain the deployed artifacts as well as the related metadata.
The Deployment Synchronizer (DepSync) is the mechanism used in the WSO2 platform for distributing these artifacts and metadata across all nodes in the cluster. It provides the ability to synchronize data between the worker nodes of a product cluster. When used with the WSO2 Application Server, or the WSO2 ESB, you can synchronize your deployable artifacts like web services, and web applications etc. across the cluster nodes. In addition, with the latest WSO2 Carbon 4 release, WSO2 provides the ability to synchronize service metadata which includes service policies, transports, and service-type specific data. Now you only have to deploy and configure services in one node - called the manager. Then, DepSync will replicate those to other nodes - workers.
In this presentation, we present how this is done in the WSO2 Cloud-enabled middleware platform. Typical deployment artifacts will include webapps, JAXWS/JAXRS apps, data services, proxy services, and BPEL processes . The WSO2 platform also natively supports multi-tenancy. Tenants & tenant artifacts are loaded on demand. We will demonstrate how DepSync works efficiently with multi-tenancy.

It was year 1999 when EJBoss made it’s debut as an alternative opensource J2EE implementation. 15+ years is more than a lifetime in technology terms and yet the JBoss Application Server project, renamed in 2013 into WildFly has managed to thrive and stay relevant by evolving into the Swiss Army Knife of Application Servers.dandreadis
In this talk we are going to look at the latest developments in WildFly and get an introduction to it’s sister project called WildFly Swarm. WildFly provides a robust, modular, lightweight, fully manageable and fast runtime, implementing the complete set of Java EE7 APIs. WildFly Swarm on the other hand gives you the ability to pick and choose only the server parts you need and bundle them with your application to create fat jars easy to deploy as microservices.
Thus with WildFly & WildFly Swarm you get the richness and maturity of Java EE combined with extreme flexibility about your deployment options in traditional setups or dynamic cloud environments.

Continuous Integration has improved software development process, while deployment of software often does not get as much attention. In this presentation we describe an approach for efficient cloud deployment of highly distributed system which can be quite complex to deal with. DeploymentManager(DM) tool is developed as internal project of Infobip company for managing large number(cca. 250 instances) of internal services in our data centers using automated deployment and controling load balancing software(Apache, HaProxy). With DM tool it is possible to deploy build(jar, war, egg…) on any environment(Windows, Linux) in max 5 minutes, without technical knowledge about deployment process, making Continuous Delivery process fast and simple.

Slides from Workshop 'Cloud Foundry: Hands-on Deployment Workshop'
http://www.meetup.com/CloudFoundry/events/150601282/
In this workshop you will learn Cloud Foundry fundamental concepts, setup, deployment and operations. We’ll cover a couple of alternatives to deploy CF in a local environment for learning and testing purposes as well as deploying Cloud Foundry atop IaaS production level environment, being able to manage hundreds of components and thousands of applications.
If you did not have a chance to work with Cloud Foundry, it may be useful to test its features locally at first. Deploying this environment on a local machine allows you to get hands-on experience in the solution and, in case you are a contributor, to test some features before you commit them to a production environment.
The XenServer virtualization platform is used by well over 100,000 organizations to fulfill their IT objectives. Common scenarios include traditional server virtualization such as that found with VMware vSphere, delivery of large scale cloud services via Apache CloudStack or OpenStack, and as a platform for high performance desktop virtualization through XenDesktop. These use cases all have requirements of scale and manageability which imply solid deployments.
The content in this deck was presented in workshop form at FOSSETCON in 2015. Much of the information contained will work for any XenServer version, but XenServer 6.5 was covered. The audience was assumed to have some familiarity with virtualization concepts, but no assumptions about XenServer was made. Core concepts covered included; storage design, network design and operations, scalability and failure domains, as well as core features such as virtualized graphics.

Enrich your IBM Connections profiles by extending the profiles data modelWannes Rams
1316: Enrich Your IBM Connections Profiles by Extending the Profiles Data Model
The profiles application is the core of your Connections deployment, it gives insight into the most valuable asset of your company: the people. The profiles service federates information from different source systems into one single reference. To enrich this important part of Connections we can extend the default Profiles data model and tailor it to your company's needs. By doing this, Profiles will become the" place to go" to access people information in your company: a place available to all employees wherever they work, resulting in a higher ROI for your Connections deployment.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
