The document summarizes a presentation about agile principles and pragmatism in software development given by Emily Webber. Some key points from the presentation include that agile principles focus on valuing individuals and interactions over processes, empowering teams to make their own decisions, embracing diversity and dissenting opinions for better outcomes, and balancing aspirations with pragmatism when implementing changes. The goal of using agile practices is to build great products and services, not just following a methodology for its own sake. Change needs to be managed sensitively as it is difficult for people.
This document discusses ways to break down silos in agile organizations. It identifies three types of silos: within organizations, between teams, and within teams. Communities of practice are recommended to break down silos within organizations by allowing people to learn together and share knowledge. Multidisciplinary teams can help break down silos between teams by including all necessary roles. Breaking down silos within teams involves practices like pairing, shadowing, and helping outside of specialties to broaden skills.
Google Community Summit Asia - Hashmi - Day 2 GBG Track Hashmi Rafsanjani
In August 2014, I was invited to speak at the Google Community Asia 2014 in Sri Lanka on our success and best practices at Google Business Group Sonargaon.
Here's my deck highlighting our work helping our community leverage the internet to drive digital, social, entrepreneurial success in Bangladesh.
The document discusses how agile practices have evolved over the past 18 years since the Agile Manifesto was published in 2001. It summarizes the results of an annual survey on the state of agile that shows how agile adoption has increased but also faces ongoing barriers. While scrum remains popular, hybrid and customized approaches are growing. It also suggests areas for improving agile implementation including focusing on purpose, co-creation, and experimentation over resistance to change.
This document discusses how startup entrepreneurs find ideas and think like a startup. It suggests that startup founders look for problems to solve, such as shortages in their market. It also recommends moving quickly to build minimum viable products and iterate based on feedback, as well as embracing failure and pivoting ideas that do not work. The document advocates for creating a culture that encourages creativity, breaks rules, and moves at a rapid pace to stay ahead of competition.
The document repeatedly states the name and title of Clive Bryant as Senior Global Business Development Director. It discusses innovation, evolution, and Aeon Exchange. While they focus on innovation, it notes that they do not do eggs and do not stop at Aeon Exchange. The document promotes visiting stand 26 and thanks the reader for listening.

Lean pitching involves applying Lean Startup and customer development principles to reduce waste in pitches. Pre-pitch research includes reviewing social media, past investments, blogs, and determining if the pitch will be to an individual or group. The business model canvas helps structure the pitch. Key questions identify the most important factors for investors. An effective pitch is short, simple, and memorable, focusing on what, how, and why. High concept pitches use familiar concepts to quickly convey the idea. Post-pitch reflection identifies surprises, lessons learned, directions to test, and risks. Resources for improving pitching skills are provided.
Rapid Iteration On Mobile (Lean Startup Conf 2013)xanadumobile
This document summarizes Mariya Yao's presentation "Rapid Iteration on Mobile" given at the 2013 Lean Startup Conference. Some of the key points discussed include:
- The importance of asking the right questions when prototyping, such as questions about user engagement and retention rather than just usability.

In this presentation, which was originally given at the Maastricht Week of Global Entrepreneurship in 2014, you will hear the story of how pivoting can lead you in new directions.
First, when you begin to think of creating your own startup or small business, you will want to find what dissatisfies you. For me, that was access to learning computer programming for all children. Through hosting workshops for kids in coding, I learned from parents and teachers that they, too, wanted to know more about technology, but didn't know where to get started. That's when I decided to test out a new idea, which was a workshop series for adults to learn computer programming in an easy and non-threatening way.
Coding and Cocktails is now looking to expand to other cities throughout the world in order to teach HTML and CSS in fun-filled workshop settings. If you're interested in working with us, please email me!

- Adopting DevOps practices may lead to improved lead times, release frequency, change fail rates, and service restoration times.
How to Increase Revenue Or Decrease Expenses From Social MediaMarcus Ho
Social media is distrupting businesses and is empowering customers in ways previously unimaginable. In recent years, organizations have started to be present on social; creative ideas have emerged but only few companies have been able to approach social systemetically and measure their own results. During this session, Marcus Ho (author of the national bestseller Secrets to Facebook Marketing) will reveal The C³ System, the world's first measurable methodology for social media marketing to best engage consumers, build loyalty and create brand advocates.
Technology has grown tremendously over time. Early technology like the typewriter from 1714 had limitations like lacking backspace, autocorrect, and storage. It required printing files. In contrast, modern technology like MS Word allows backing up, editing, and storing files online without printing. It has helped speed up work and make projects easier. Technology has also advanced entertainment media from silent films to animated cartoons. Overall, technology has helped streamline daily life tasks through online calendars, cell phones, and education apps, making schedules easier to coordinate and share information.

Non-Tech Contributions to the Tech CommunityElisha Tan
"I'm not skilled enough a programmer to contribute" is a common response I get when I ask programmers why don't they contribute to the open source community. In this lightning talk, I share some ways that you can contribute to the community (hint: it's all non-technical and anyone can do it) even if you're half a decent coder like me.
Talk given at Red Dot Ruby Conference 2015
This talk was given at Fu*kup Night in Singapore this year. I spoke about my startup failure. The slides don't say much, but you can find the recording of the session here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0CqGniuW2E
Should You, The Non-Tech Founder, Learn How To Code?Elisha Tan
I'm a Psychology graduate with no prior programming skills. When I couldn't find a tech co-founder to join me, I decided to pick up programming with Ruby on Rails. In this talk, I share my experiences learning how to code, and shed some light on whether you, the non-tech founder, should pick up programming too.
This talk was given at the launch of Geek Girl Meetup Singapore.
This document discusses why the author organizes Rails Girls events. It notes that while computer programming was pioneered by women, it is now a male-dominated field due to marketing and talent crunch problems. Getting more women involved in programming could help address these issues and double open source contributions. The document encourages helping out at Rails Girls events as coaches, spreading awareness of the events, and making the community more inclusive and welcoming to women. The overall goal is to improve diversity and inclusion in the Ruby programming community.

Social media has drastically changed the landscape of crisis management. With close to 23% of the time spent on the internet on social networks and Google providing three-quarters of a billion search results a day, the internet is a giant public library where users have the ease of discovering and spreading information around.
What does this mean to companies facing a crisis? It means that when information released is not contained and acted upon quickly, it can spiral out of control.
This ebook looks at three case studies and explore what we can learn from them for maximum effectiveness in social media crisis management.
