The magazine is aimed at representing educated, mature teens aged 17+. It focuses on gender expression and female musicians more than other demographics or topics. The layout uses simple colors and designs to create a formal tone while the language discusses societal issues beyond love and relationships. The magazine reflects its intended audience by not being too simplistic or playful, and features readable content for people aged 17+ to engage with. It both conforms to and subverts stereotypes by having standard magazine elements but also highlighting female musicians over typical topics.
Welcome to the Program Your Destiny course. In this course, we will be learning the technology of personal transformation, neuroassociative conditioning (NAC) as pioneered by Tony Robbins. NAC is used to deprogram negative neuroassociations that are causing approach avoidance and instead reprogram yourself with positive neuroassociations that lead to being approach automatic. In doing so, you change your destiny, moving towards unlocking the hypersocial self within, the true self free from fear and operating from a place of personal power and love.
2. REPRESENTATION OF DEMOGRAPHICS
My magazine represents the demographic of young adults in their
teens to be of a mature and well-opinionated nature and to have a great
deal of knowledge. The representation of ethnicity isn't something my
media products cares to focus deeply on along with region, sexuality,
class and physical ability though my double spread sheet does focus
on gender expression and female identifying people within the music
industry more so do what is expected of them such as singing songs
about love and heartbreak instead of injustice and societal issues. My
decision to use females as models was due to the low majority of
females often on a souls magazine and to challenge magazine
expectancies.
3. REPRESENTATION OF LAYOUT + LANGUAGE
My models, the layout design and language combine to represent a
mature fast growing social group of educated teens with the use of few
colours and often times simplistic layout features. Designing the layout
as such creates a formal sense and using language which focuses on
problems outside from love and heartbreak but situations in the world
today also represents particular social groups as well knowledgeable.
4. DOES THE MAGAZINE REFLECT
THE REPRESENTATION OF THE
INTENDED AUDIENCE?
I think the magazine
does in fact reflect the
intended audience as it
doesn't appear to be too
simplistic or too playful
and cheerful. It features
people aged 17+ apart
from the main images
on my contents page
and double spread
sheet. It also appears
easily readable which
makes it more
acceptable for anyone
to read.
IS IT SUBVERTING OR
CONFORMING TO
CERTAIN
STEREOTYPES?
I also think my magazine
both conforms to
stereotypes. The way in
which I believe my
magazine conforms to
stereotypes is by
applying a box for
regulars and listing
features within the
magazine. It also uses
bold text to allow for
certain things to stand
out and to contrast from
one another.
