In terms of my media portfolio, media technologies can be grouped into two different larger
groups of digital technologies; Hardware and Software.
What is software?
Software is a general term for the various kinds of programs used to operate computers and related devices. It is a
collection of computer programs and related data that provides the instructions for telling a computer what to do and how to do it.
Software is often packaged on CD-ROMs and diskettes. Today, much purchased software, shareware, and freeware is
downloaded over the Internet. A new trend is software that is made available for use at another site known as
an application service provider.
Some general kinds of application software include:
Productivity software, which includes word processors, spreadsheets, and tools for use by most computer users
Presentation software
Graphics software for graphic designers
CAD/CAM software
Specialized scientific applications
Vertical market or industry-specific software (for example, for banking, insurance, retail, and manufacturing
environments)

What is hardware?
Hardware is a general term for equipment that can be touched or held by hand
such as keys, locks, hinges, latches, handles, wire, chains, belts, machine parts
etc.
Like software, hardware is a collective term. Hardware includes not only the
computer proper but also the cables, connectors, power supply units, and
peripheral devices such as the keyboard, mouse, audio speakers, and printers.
In context of our product, we
used software such as Final cut

6. Technologies used for Research
and Planning.

8. Technologies used for
Evaluation
The media technologies used for the evaluation section of my portfolio. It is a mixture of both
hardware and software. At the production and construction stage of the portfolio, we can
separate them into four parts: Questions 1-4.
Throughout the entire evaluation I have used the software of Microsoft
Powerpoint to present my answers to each question.
For the first question ‘In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media texts’ I had also used Youtube in order to collect screen shots when comparing
my main product to other real media texts. This was useful as it was visually easier to see and
understand how I developed and challenged conventions.
For the third question ‘What have you
learnt from your audience feedback’ I
had used Microsoft Excel when
showing statistics of the results. I had
also used the youtube statistics too.
9. Conclusion
Overall, I felt that by making a presentation, so long as it was not in essay
form would interest the viewer as they would be reading paragraphs upon
paragraphs.
I have tried to keep things short and also use pictures which I formatted to
look more appealing. The layout of each slide is also different from the last.
Through the whole evaluation stage, by looking over my main product and
ancillary texts I believe I have shown my development of my skills from
which I have progressed from Foundation to Advance Portfolio.
