This presentation helps children teaches children how to eliminate money wastage, unnecessary spending and to seek alternatives that can help their family become financially successful.
2. How I can Help :
• Save on Money We Spend at Home
• Save on School Money and Allowance
• Save on Toys and Other Things that I
Need
• Save on Family Gimmicks and Eating Out
• Save a lot by Staying Healthy
• Our Family Working as a Team To Earn
Money My contribution
counts!
3. It is commonly taught that in order to be good
children, you are expected to do two main things:
Study HardObey Parents
4. A lot of families right now are having problems
because parents do not get to earn enough money
to support the family.
Most children do not realize that they can do so much in order to help. If
they are able to help, it is possible that a lot of parents do not need to
spend long hours in the office or even go to another country for work.
5. Even if my parents can afford to buy most that
I need and want…
It is still good to SPEND MONEY WISELY.
I don’t‘ need a lot of things to
be happy.
6. Most people pay little attention to their small
purchases. They think: “It’s cheap anyway! I still
have money in my pocket”.
This leaves people wondering where their money went and they often
say that they run out of money so fast! Before buying impulsively, it is
best to ask: “Do I really need to buy? What are my options?”
8. Save on Money Spent on Food
Just get what you can finish
and never waste food.
Do not ask your parents to
buy too many things from
the grocery.
Minimize. This will make you
heathier and also help your
parents save on medicine and
doctors fees.
9. Plant Fruits and Vegetables
Just want to share that I recently tied gardening for the first time and I found
it to be easier that I thought. So much information is on You Tube and they
are very easy to follow. The pictures show my basil, tomato and onion plants.
My favorite plant so far is basil. You can buy basil (still attached on the stem)
from the market and you soak it on water for about 3 weeks until it grows a
lot of roots. Then, you can plant it on soil. This can also be given as gifts or
even sold for profit.
I encourage people to recycle cans, bottles and containers at home so that
they won’t have to spend. And instead of buying compost or fertilizer, you
can mix peelings of fruits and vegetables with soil as natural fertilizer.
Gardening can be a very inexpensive hobby and it is very fulfilling when you
see tiny plants sprouting. I will be studying more on how to grow other herbs
on small pots.
In the latter part of this presentation, I shall be giving links about growing
plants in small spaces, containers, apartments and condominiums.
10. Help Around the House

of household help.
12. Save on School Money and Allowance

your healthy
baon at home
Reuse school supplies. Before
buying project materials,
check first if there are things
you can use around the
house.
Share books, uniforms and other
school requirements needed. It
doesn’t matter if they are hand
me downs, for as long as you
have what you need.
13. Do not feel too pressured to keep up with your
classmates when it comes to having nice things.
It is good to be simple while getting and making your own things that
reflect your individuality and creativity. Do not feel bad if at the moment,
you cannot afford to buy things that you want.
I love Ukay Ukay. It’s like
going on a treasure hunt! I
get so many unique clothes!
I love going Quiapo and
Divisoria for bargains.
Wellmanson is my favorite
shop for my jewelry supplies.

reasonably priced stationery
and gift items. Very tasteful!

family activities also give you time to talk about what
happened during the week and to work together.
Cooking Together

21. In a lot of Filipino households, it is common to find family
members just staying at home watching TV and playing video
games most of the time. If we will work together, we will be able
to come up with money for the whole family.
First, we need to know how much we need to earn (our goal). For example, if
we are able to earn Php 2,000 in one weekend, that will enable us to provide
for one month’s school allowance (at PhP100 per day).

22. This Family Produces 6,000 pounds of food per year
in their backyard and gets to sell most of them.
“Every member of the family pitches on to make
sure every square inch of their land produces as
much as possible. In addition, beyond simply
producing their own organic food, the Dervaes
family is living almost totally off the grid. Many of
the gadgets they use are hand-powered, and what
isn’t hand powered gets energy from solar panels,
which leads to power bills that max out at about
$12 per month. They also don’t burn any fossil
fuels, as their car is powered by biodiesel produced
from used cooking fat—which restaurants deliver
to their doorstep.”
