Three of our colleagues had the crazy idea to participate in The Barrel Challenge, a six-day trip through Europe in a classic car. Over more than 3000 km, they traversed steep hills and snowy mountain passes, facing cold and other unexpected weather conditions.
We wouldn't be Codit if we didn't equip the car with various sensors and connect these to the cloud. We were able to track it at any moment and see its position, temperature, altitude and various other parameters. During this session, we will tell you the story on how we connected this car and give you a behind-the-curtain view on the technical architecture. Technologies that will be discussed are : Azure IoT, Edge connectivity, Stream Analytics and SignalR.

Big data processing is undoubtedly one of the most exciting areas in computing today, and remains an area of fast evolution and introduction of new ideas. Apache Spark is at the cusp of overtaking MapReduce to emerge as the de-facto standard for big data processing. Thanks to its multi-functional capabilities (SQL, Structured Streaming, ML Pipelines and GraphX) under one unified platform , Spark is now a dominant compute technology across various industry use cases and real-time analytics applications. Apache Spark in past few years has seen successful production and commercial deployments across E-Commerce, Healthcare and Travel industry.
Session gave audience an understanding about the latest and upcoming trends in Big-Data Analytics and the role of Spark in enabling those future use-cases of advanced analytics.
Session explored the latest concepts from Apache Spark 2.x and introduction to various ML/DL frameworks that can run Spark along with some real-life use-cases and applications from Retail and IoT verticals.

Grid monitoring aims to measure and publish the state of distributed computing resources in real-time. Autopilot is an infrastructure that provides real-time adaptive control of distributed resources. It uses sensors to monitor applications and systems, and actuators to control application behavior and sensor operations. The Autopilot manager registers sensors and actuators and allows clients to access resource information.

Platform for the Research and Analysis of Cybernetic Threats
This talk describes, from an architectural point of view, how to exploit the HDP + Nifi technological platform aimed at researching, exploiting and targeting events related to Cyber Security. The purpose of the system is to create a knowledge base related to the events, actors and operating methods with which the cyber attacks happened and may happen, collecting both real-time data from social networks and web pages or literature material on such episodes in batch modality. The process focuses text and graph analysis at scale thanks to Spark engine Metron and Kafka, on a complexly integrated tech stack, that enhances the capabilities of the algorithms and results to offer a flexible solution to the analysts. The system supports the user in determining the motivations and eventually the actual executors of the attacks and, hopefully, the instigators of the same, also thanks to a smart representation of data stored on a graph NoSQL database. A further aim of the system will be to determine, in a predictive way, the "symptoms" or the processes connected to the attacks.

IoT Big Data Analytics Insights from Patents
IoT (Internet of things) big data analytics is becoming important to process unimaginably large amounts of information and data that are obtained by the sensor embedded interconnected IoT devices. The typical IoT big data analytics system is Hadoop, an open-source software framework that supports data-intensive distributed applications, and the running of applications on large clusters of commodity hardware. Hadoop, that is based on the architectural framework MapReduce, collects both structured data and unstructured data, processes the collected data set in a distributed network cluster in parallel, and extracts valuable information from the processed data set within a short time.
The 4-hour Tester Experiment

Bullseye or The Testing Wheel
One of my recent endeavours has been to create a "career model" for the testers within my organisation. I sat in my office at home and designed "the testing wheel". I wanted it to be simple, inclusive and offer questions but few answers.
Careers are long and winding. My own career has not been a linear progression, so building a linear model seemed wrong to me. But, this brought me into conflict with the ideas of others.
My experience report will show the highs and lows of this model after introducing it into the wild. People still tried to measure and rank with it, got mad people got when I refused to answer the questions it posed. Finally how it spread and entered battle with wider organisations career models.

being performed by an IoT device. These include sensing, reacting, collecting, and

Much like the World Wide Web connected computers to networks, and the next evolution connected people to the Internet and other people, IoT looks poised to interconnect devices, people, environments, virtual objects and machines in ways that only science fiction writers could have imagined.
In a nutshell the Internet of Things (IoT) is the convergence of connecting people, things, data and processes is transforming our life, business and everything in between.

We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
