The document discusses the major sex hormones testosterone and estrogen, and their roles and effects during puberty and adulthood. It describes how testosterone contributes to physical changes in males such as voice deepening and hair growth. It also discusses the roles of testosterone and estrogen in females. The document notes some potential problems from abnormally high levels of these hormones, as well as medical conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome where hormone levels may be affected.

Testosterone is the primary sex hormone and anabolic steroid in males. In male humans, testosterone plays a key role in the development of male reproductive tissues such as testes and prostate, as well as promoting secondary sexual characteristics such as increased muscle and bone mass, and the growth of body hair.
Testosterone is a sex hormone that plays important roles in the body. In men, it's thought to regulate sex drive (libido), bone mass, fat distribution, muscle mass and strength, and the production of red blood cells and sperm. A small amount of circulating testosterone is converted to estradiol, a form of estrogen.
If a male has a low level of testosterone, the symptoms can include erectile dysfunction, and reduced bone mass and sex drive. The hormone has many important functions, including: the development of the bones and muscles. the deepening of the voice, hair growth, and other factors related to appearance.
Men with high testosterone can experience a variety of troubling symptoms and possible health consequences. Excess testosterone can lead to more aggressive and irritable behavior, more acne and oily skin, even worse sleep apnea (if you already have it), and an increase in muscle mass.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

1. Ensure the _______ of the
specie
What is the
major function
of the
reproductive
system?
2. r______ all biological processes in the
body from conception through
adulthood and into old age
What is the
major function
of the endocrine
system?
3. ACTIVITY: THE CONDUCTOR
When you listen to a symphony,
many different instruments must
play the right notes at the right
times to produce the beautiful music
we hear. For all these separate
elements to work together, a
conductor tells each instrument
what, when, and how to play.
8. Gonadotrophins
• Gonadotrophs, cells
that constitute about 10
percent of the pituitary
gland, secrete two
primary
gonadotropins: luteinizi
ng hormone (LH)
and follicle-stimulating
hormone (FSH).
9.

11. • Another type of gonadotropin found in
women is human chorionic gonadotropin
(HCG), which is produced by
the placenta during pregnancy. The
detection of HCG forms the basis
of pregnancy tests.
14. Testosterone
Testosterone is the major sex hormone in males and
plays a number of important roles, such as:
• The deepening of the voice during puberty
• The appearance of facial and pubic hair starting at
puberty; later in life, it may play a role in balding
• Muscle size and strength
• Bone growth and strength
• Sex drive (libido)
• Sperm production
• Maintenance of accessory glands and organs of
male reproductive system
16. Testosterone in Females
• Testosterone is produced in the ovaries
and adrenal gland. These hormones are
thought to have important effects on:
• Ovarian function
• Bone strength
• Sexual behavior, including normal libido
17. Use of anabolic steroids and
testosterone
Problems associated with
abnormally high
testosterone levels in men
include:
•impotence
•Acne
•Fluid retention with
swelling of the legs and feet
•Weight gain, perhaps
related in part to increased
appetite
•Increased muscle mass
•Stunted growth in
adolescents
•Uncharacteristically
aggressive behavior
(although not well studied
or clearly proven)
18. High Testosterone level in Women
Polycystic ovary
syndrome (PCOS)
One treatment available for many
of these problems is
spironolactone, a diuretic (water
pill) that blocks the action of male
sex hormones.
Let us review some body systems. Ensure the survival of the specie. Why do you think did the creator added this feature to us?
To regulate hormones which acts as messengers to other organs and systems of the body to signal them to complete a certain task or process. ...
This includes the reproductive
To understand more about the role of endocrine in reproductive system. I have here an activity. If you think about any complex process, it usually requires someone to manage all the parts. And this is what the endocrine system does for our body including the reproductive system. When you listen to a symphony, many different instruments must play the right notes at the right time to produce the beautiful music we hear. For all these separate elements to work together, a conductor tells each instrument what, when, and how to play.
So in this activity, I will be the conductor and whenever you see a circle just pound the table, and if it’s a square, clap your hands.
Can you guess the song that we will play?
Wow. That was lovely. From this activity, we can see the importance of timing and instruction from a conductor to create a beautiful music.
The electronic store manager was bullied for years because he was smaller and weaker than other children and still had no facial hair and a high voice until his late teens.
Gonadotroph cells (indicated by arrows) constitute about 10 percent of the pituitary gland and secrete hormones called gonadotropins, which include luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH).
The androgen and testosterone has a lot of effects on the secondary male sex characteristics as evident in this photo.
Signals sent from the brain to the pituitary gland at the base of the brain control the production of testosterone in men. The pituitary gland then relays signals to the testes to produce testosterone. A negative feedback loop, also known as an inhibitory loop, is a type of self-regulating system. When testosterone levels rise too high, the brain sends signals to the pituitary to reduce production.
If you thought testosterone was only important in men, you'd be mistaken.
most of what we know about abnormally high testosterone levels in men comes from athletes who use anabolic steroids, testosterone or related hormones to increase muscle mass and athletic performance.
The ovaries of women with PCOS contain multiple cysts. Symptoms include irregular periods, reduced fertility, excess or coarse hair on the face, extremities, trunk and pubic area, male-pattern baldness, darkened, thick skin, weight gain, depression and anxiety. One treatment available for many of these problems is spironolactone, a diuretic (water pill) that blocks the action of male sex hormones.
Women with high testosterone levels, due to either disease or drug use, may experience a decrease in breast size and deepening of the voice, in addition to many of the problems men may have.
Oestrogen and progesterone are two female sex hormones secreted by ovaries and adrenal glands. Oestrogen is the main female sex hormone, which is responsible for the development of secondary female sex characteristics. On the other hand, progesterone plays a big role during the pregnancy. It helps to sustain the pregnancy. Moreover, it also prepares the uterus for implantation and maintains the elasticity of it. This is the difference between oestrogen and progesterone.
