  2. Sharon On any given night in Minnesota, there are 6,000 homeless youth.   Have everyone stand. Our group is now representative of this population of homeless youth.   If you have a XX post-it, please stay standing. This group represents the percentage of homeless youth (56%) that have been homeless for at least a year.   If you have a XX post-it, please stay standing. This group represents the percentage of homeless youth (30%) that have stayed outside at least once. Can you imagine what it must have been like for these youth on Saturday, January 13, 2018? How many of you remember January 13? You probably don’t remember the exact day, but if you’ve lived here for any length of time, you are probably assuming it was COLD. The high that day was 5-degrees and the low was -13-degrees. What must it have been like for those youth who didn’t have anyplace to go and knew they were going to have to find a place to spend the night to keep warm and maybe even to stay alive.   Hope4Youth and many other organization around the Twin Cities were established to help these youth with a meal, a place to hang out for a few hours, a hot shower, and many other services.
