3. 1. What is an honorable figure?
1. Buddha’s words, “Throughout heaven and earth, I alone am the
honored one” is his own pledge to aim at being an honorable figure and
means a path to enlightenment.
2. Heaven means a spiritual world and earth means this material world.
So, “Throughout heaven and earth” means whenever and wherever.
3. “I alone am the honored one” means (irrespective of others’ words) ‘I
will devote myself solely to being an honorable figure'.
4. An honorable figure always has calm mind through firm self-confidence,
without being disturbed by others.
5. We can be spiritually awakened through the logic and practice only,
irrespective of God or religion.
