EXPERIENCE
2011 - Current Biology Teacher
Fort Pierce Central High School, Fort Pierce, Florida
Currently, I teach biology to 10th grade honors and general education students. I am also the Wellness Champion for
our school where I support healthy initiatives for staff, and I am the AVID Science chair representative. Last year I
won a $2000 STEM education grant where I developed a garden project for my students to design and implement an
evolution garden. I forged a partnership with a local Ph.D. at the USDA Horticultural Research Center to serve as my
mentor. I further partnered with a local Eco-Center to provide an extended 5-month off-site learning opportunity to a
select group of my students to monitor gopher tortoise populations in the local area based on different land
management practices.
2010 – 2011 Program Assistant, Nutrition Education
Mar – August University of Florida, St. Lucie County Extension Office, Fort Pierce, Florida
I worked in St. Lucie County Title I schools where I created and delivered nutrition education curriculum to students
in Pre-K - 2nd
grade. Met with principals and teachers to establish program implementation and time lines for going
into schools to teach, provided educational tools for students and teachers that supported the program, and worked
with the cafeteria managers to institute tastings to students and develop their educational bulletin boards, as well as
aided them in ways that promoted nutrition. Worked with local Health Department to establish and implement
additional educational programming pertaining to nutrition. Created and developed additional curricular material
around nutrition for early learners, middle school campers, the Boys and Girls Club, and a Drug and Alcohol
Treatment Assistance Program for teen-agers. Sat on county Wellness Committee to contribute to enhancing current
school health and wellness related programs into the overall school system. Have researched and ordered nutrition
related books and supplies, and have aligned grade-based curriculum around the St. Lucie County Scope and
Sequence. Contributed to fun fairs, and presented at parents' evenings. Assisted in training new hires on program
implementation.
2008 – 2009 Science Teacher
Aug – Dec Homewood School, Tenterden, Kent, England
Worked in a well-established Arts College and Vocational School where I taught science and geography to students
in grades 7 – 11. Carried out laboratory course work with students, and worked, additionally, in a total curriculum
setting where team-teaching and curriculum integration were carried out with up to 60 students at a time. Worked
with the Young Chamber Group where I provided support to students and the school in the development and
implementation of programs geared toward raising achievement in attaining greater Eco-School status. Created and
submitted a proposal for the implementation of a school dairy integrating curriculum, local community, and business.
The idea was accepted and agreed upon for funding by the Chamber of Commerce in purchasing of a dairy cow for
the school for the Young Chamber to pursue a school business on the farm.
2008 Project Coordinator, Education
Apr – Jul Envision, EMI, Vienna, Virginia
(Seasonal) Hired, trained and managed a staff of approximately 24 facilitators for the National Young Leaders State
Conferences in several cities across the United States. Prepared for, and implemented, the experiential
leadership curriculum, program policies, and training schedule that was to be implemented at each
conference. Lead staff in the direct implementation of conferences on-site, and supported staff and students
at all curricular levels while at the conferences.

(Part-time, nights) Santa Fe Café, Arlington, Virginia
Acted as the assistant night manager of a family style New Mexican restaurant where I ensured that the
shifts I oversaw ran smoothly. Engaged with the staff forming cohesive relationships where we together
met, and exceeded, the needs of our customers.
1998 – 2003 Executive Communications Administrator /Associate Editor
Aug - Aug American Chemistry Council, Washington, DC
Provided executive-level communications assistance to senior-level executives and associates. Managed
contracts, billing, press release sign-offs, posting to the Internet, and hundred thousand dollars budgets
containing over 40 industry panels. Coordinated large-scale meetings and events for team and industry
partners. Arranged all local and national travel plans. Additionally, I served as the associate editor to the
Council’s premier publication, Chemistry Business, and produced the Membership Directory and Resource
Guide. Worked with member companies to promote their sponsorship of, and inclusion in, various
advocacy related activities, as well as their presence at the Black Tie & Boots Inaugural Ball.
