Consultation to health, social service agencies and schools,
providing professional development, evaluation, program
development, organizational development, coaching and
management support.
Major Contractors include:
• New York State Department of Public Health: Provided multiple
day professional development event to all WIC managers and
staff on delivering and supporting client-centered approaches,
particularly Motivational Interviewing
• Martha’s Vineyard Public Schools: Created a peer health
education program for high school students to design and run
for middle school students.
• JSI, Boston, MA: provided training and consultation to Title X
family planning programs throughout New England, including
CDC/OPA project that supports clinics using best practices for
integrated HIV services.
• Action for Boston Community Development: consultant to
family planning programs integrating HIV prevention into their
clinical work. The focus of a CDC funded research project was
teaching them to incorporate the Transtheoretical Model of
Behavior Change into their current work

2006-2015 HIV/AIDS Program Coordinator, Massachusetts
Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
Under a cooperative agreement with CDC's Division of
Adolescent and School Health, oversaw HIV, STD, Teen
Pregnancy prevention programs for Massachusetts school-aged
youth. Policy setting, grants and contract oversight,
professional development for teachers, collaborated with state,
federal programs, NGOs and CBOs, provided TA to school
districts.
• Created and led a dynamic advisory council that did
research, issued reports, advocated for programs,
developed criteria for quality sex education and reviewed
curricula against those criteria
2. • Offered quality professional development events from 3
hours to 5 days in length that provided teachers, school
nurses and counselors with the knowledge comfort and
skills to provide excellent sexual health education in schools
• Modified several national sexuality education curricula to
make them more LGBT inclusive.
• Worked with a contractor to develop a middle school
curriculum and teacher training for the PREP program.
• Worked with the American Psychological Association to
expand their one-day Respect workshop to two days in
order to give school counselors, nurses and social workers
motivation and skills to support LGBTQ students in schools
• Created a strong collaboration with the Department of
Public Health that included a successful collaborative
application for federal teen pregnancy prevention programs
• Served as an expert on a panel to offer advice on
adolescent programs to CDC ‘s National Center for
HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention
• Presented at several national conferences including, ASHA,
the National HIV Prevention Conference, and the National
Summit on Sex Education
• Served as a reviewer for the National Teacher Preparation
Standards for Sexuality Education.
• Co-Created the National Professional Development program
to provide PD to DASH funded agencies.
