The Dutch government made a deal with New Zealand in 2000 to send 2000 Dutch workers to New Zealand to address workforce needs. The Dutch workers sacrificed relationships and familiar culture to leave their homes in the Netherlands for New Zealand, where their responsibilities included finding housing and employment to support themselves financially and socially in their new home country, which differed from the Netherlands in location, language, culture and history.
