• Design the proper tools for the communication between HOAS, third
parties and the residents
• Enhance the commitment of the residents. (Participation, ownership)
• Create a pleasant and functional environment
• Design social solutions that could guarantee a sustainable change.

5. SOLUTIONS
Process:
1. The chain of thought during the whole project has been not
assuming anything but spotting actual problems by interviews and
observations during the visits as mentioned before.
2. Then brainstorming around the problem searching for feasible
and sustainable solutions.

15. PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
1. Apartments
• No heating during the winter
• Reduced spaces, poor maintenance
2. Common Rooms
• Lack of common and free-access to the room
• Poor condition of the space
3. Laundry Room
• Too little washing machines, or no good service system around it
• Creates stress and frustration to the tenants.
• No drying room
4. Garbage system
• Lack of information on recycling and waste disposal
• Signs only in FinnishCreates a bad image for the whole building
Over all impersonal feeling.
18. PHYSICAL RENOVATIONS
Four spaces to be renovated
• OAS and Demos Helsinki organized a design competition for the halls. The

goal is to give a unique personality for each of the building´s sixteen living
floors.
