This document provides a marking scale and performance descriptors for assessing student work for the HNC Creative Media Production course. It divides the marking scale into first class, upper and lower second class, third class, pass, and fail categories. For each category, it provides descriptors of the level of subject knowledge and understanding, and analysis and application that are expected for a piece of work to meet that standard. The lowest categories focus on work that is below the standard required for the course level.

concepts. Largely incoherent, under-developed
and disjointed with no synthesis of ideas.
Fail 32 Work is significantly below the standard
required for the appropriate stage of a Level 4
course. Some evidence of study and some
knowledge and evidence of understanding but

theory to practice, policy and/or research. Little
ability to summarise information.
