Sampling is selecting a portion of a population to represent the whole population. There are two main types of sampling: probability sampling, where each member has an equal chance of being selected, and non-probability sampling. Probability sampling methods include simple random sampling, where any subset has an equal chance of being chosen, systematic sampling which selects elements at regular intervals, and stratified sampling which divides the population into subgroups.
