1. HISTORY OF GAY RIGHTS IN THE U.S.
MICHAEL KOLOLYAN

2.  Introduction
 The connection between two people of the
same sex through attraction and sexual
activities are identified as homosexuals.

3. IT’S HAPPENING WHERE WE LIVE…

4.  Historical Background
 Homosexuality is generally known and
becoming more common as some states
slowly begin to legalize gay marriage.
Although, it is not accepted by many
cultures, the knowledge of this behavior is
worldwide.

5.  The behavior of homosexuality has
changed drastically since the late 19th
century. From the time when psychologists
believed it was a disease to now, where 11
out of the 50 states recognizing people as
gay couples. However, the only four states
which allow two people of the same sex to
get married is
Massachusetts, Iowa, Connecticut, and
Vermont. Whereas, the other states only
allow civil partnerships. These states go
through ongoing changes regarding the
laws of gay marriage.

7.  More people in this day and
age are less afraid to let our
society know how they feel
about their sexuality. Today
there are many people who
are fighting to get
homosexuals the rights and
privileges they believe. There
are
campaigns, meetings, and
marches where the people
participating in these actions
will not give up.

8.  All parts of the population are affected by the
behavior. Everyone from elites, the poor, the
young, the old, and both males and females.
According to studies though, approximately
eight percent more women to men voted in
favor of gay lifestyles. Therefore it does not
benefit men.

9.  In order to change,
reform, or address this
issue there are plenty of
legal movements you
must make. The most
cliché one is to protest
but protesting is also the
least effective. In the
states that benefit civil-
unions, the actions
consist of petitions,
lawsuits, etc.

10.  The beneficiaries of the movements are the
people who would like to see it changed. On
the other hand, there are many people who
strongly oppose this lifestyle and a majority
of them will not stop fighting for their opinion
on the matter.

11. A LARGE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE PLAYING THEIR
ROLE IN ONE PROTEST FOR EQUAL MARRIAGE
RIGHTS.

12.  Religion has played a superb role in the
emerging role of gay lifestyles. Since a
majority of marriages take place in a church,
the legal issues will continue to cause
conflicts for the gay community. Some people
can argue that religion has been used to
block reform but at the same time, it’s one of
the main causes of the whole issue.

13.  There has been many actions taken in order
to address this issue. People who believe in
gay marriage will go to extreme measures to
ensure their right to equal marriage, such as
protesting, signing petitions, lawsuits, etc.
After all of this, eventually Massachusetts,
Connecticut, Vermont, and Iowa have fully
legalized gay marriage.

14. A DIFFERENT LOOK AT A WEDDING CAKE.

15.  Although it will take time, it seems to be that
more and more states will begin to listen to
what the gay community has to say. That
being said, their voice is constantly growing
and hopefully something can be done about
it. Based our society, its rather difficult to
predict what will happen in the future for the
gay community. Therefore, we can only hope
that our society opens their eyes and looks at
the bigger picture.
