Political Caricatures
II. Explain and discuss the following questions below.
1. What is the cartoonist viewpoint in caricature 2? Explain
The point of view of caricature 2 is that he wants to show us how politics deprive
tenant farmers of their rightful share of the harvest. And how the farmer was treated
unfairly.
2. Do you agree or disagree with the cartoon? Why?
Yes, because we continue to receive this type of treatment from politicians like
them. Despite the high quality of the product, they earn a low income. And this caricature
aids us in awakening and obtaining what we deserve.
3. How will you be able to interpret the cartoon?
My perception of this cartoon is there is one covered in sweat farmer who appears
tired and fatigued because he's been working so hard while carrying heavy sacks on his
back.
4. What is the cartoonist trying to point through exaggeration?
The cartoonist is attempting to portray a reality that many people fail to notice.
5. What is the irony in the caricature? What idea does it intend to emphasize?
The irony of the caricature is that the farmers who worked so hard to have something
to eat are the ones who will get nothing and are deeply in debt when harvest time comes.
It simply emphasizes the landowners' use of usury and unfair treatment to the farmers.
