Highly Effective Teens
"Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt" (118) Shakespeare quoted in Measure for Measure. Sean
Covey stated one of the most well–known author's quotes in his novel, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, for habit three. The particular habit
involves organizing your schedule to place the imperative and essential activities first. Covey describes four kinds of people in the chapter: the
procrastinator, the prioritizer, the yes–man, and the slacker. I am personally a mixture of the procrastinator and the prioritizer. I may well be organized
and systematic although, I need assistance going through with my plans and schedule. Habit three aided me through my difficulties with placing
important activities first and still having time to unwind.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It offers advice to its readers on how to think win–win. It is the belief that in the end, everyone can win if they have the correct attitude towards life.
My life has mostly been a win–lose or a lose–win situation, therefore, I am in need of working on habit four. The last habit that made an impression
on me is number six. It teaches its readers how to synergize, or to create a better solution when two or more people work together. According to Covey,
synergy celebrates differences, promotes teamwork and open–mindedness, and is about finding innovative and improved ways. Habit six is one of the
prevalent habits I need to practice and involve in my everyday life. It will benefit me in the long run and open my eyes to help and celebrate others,

The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People
The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People When facing a problem, human nature looks for a "quick fix." Whether it is the latest diet fad or a get
rich scheme, almost all "quick fixes" produce the same short–lived results and often no results at all. As a society, we are drawn to the appeal of a quick
and easy route which leads to immediate results. We have grown accustomed to an easy lifestyle that uses superficial tactics when interacting with
others. The problem with these quick fixes is that they deceive us into believing it is possible to avoid going through the natural process of work and
growth, an essential process in order to change. These quick solutions not only try to cheat the system, but also cause us to lose touch with... Show more

However, that did not stop him. He worked in Decon that summer for my father's company handling machinery, which was quite dangerous. While the
job had nothing to do with his major, mechanical engineering, he continued to try and use this opportunity to learn as much as he could about the
company while getting some good work experience. Impressed by his work ethic, the company told him that he should definitely try to apply for an
intern position the following summer. Despite the unfortunate conditions, my brother did not complain, but instead tried to remain positive and make
the best of the whole situations. His experience showed me that even if we cannot control the situation we can control how we react to it. The second
habit, "Beginning with the End in Mind," was by far the most inspiring and meaningful habit of all. This chapter began by telling me to imagine my
funeral and to imagine the significant people in my life in attendance and what they would say about me. While the text portrayed a morbid scene, the
visualization exercise was extremely powerful. The exercise made me think about what I want people to remember me for, what accomplishments I
want to have completed, and what kind of impact I want to have on the people around me. While thinking about what I want to have completed during
the course of my life, I then began to question whether or not the things I am doing today are helping me to reach my

Examples Of 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens
"7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens" ,written by Sean Covey, is about 7 habits. The first habit is Be Proactive, second is Begin with the End In Mind,
next is Put First Things First, fourth is Think Win–Win. Then there is the fifth habit, Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood, sixth is
Synergize, and lastly the seventh habit is Sharpen the Saw. I learned to listen and pay attention to the person speaking. That way you can get to know
the person and yourself better. Pay attention to someone's actions. I learned to come out of my comfort zone and explore the world around me. To be
kinder to others and respect their choices. That's what I learned in "7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens."
The first habit is, Be Proactive. That mean you should take responsibility for your actions and words. You should not go behind someone and talk
about them. You should not pull pranks or call people name. You should stand up for people and get teachers involved when you see someone
getting bullied. You should go out and try to make the world a better place. An example of being proactive is," Forgive her and give her a second
chance." page 50 .I can apply this habit to my life by planting a tree once a year and picking up any trash that I see one the ground. I can also apply
this to my life by being more forgiving. The second habit, Begin with the End In Mind, is about thinking things through. Not going right into situation
without thinking about what might happen as a result. In the

This was not as easy a read for me. I suppose I am a victim of my generational upbringing, in that, I feel the need to be informed in an entertaining
manner. This book has good information, but I had to continually check my focus. Those times when I was truly drawn in were the times when the
writer was relating back to a story from his life or others and how it worked in to the particular habit he was teaching at that time. That being said,
the following areas are where I believe I can use to make myself and my team better. One of the first things to come alive to me was the picture of
the young girl or old woman, depending on the viewer's perspective. I had seen this picture several times before but because the book first presented a...

Further what rang my proverbial bell was the fact that living in this quadrant was indeed pushing me into quadrant four. Just as the book stated, I live
so much of my life fighting fires, struggling to meet hard deadlines, taking care if unhappy reports as well as unhappy customers, that when there are
those moments of respites' I look for a the tranquility of the mundane. I want the quick and easy, or find myself looking over one of the guys shoulder
as they have a PC torn apart because I feel if I don't have those times I will crack when the next "quadrant one activities" hit me.
So what did I learn? Begin to work in quadrant two and quadrant one work will lessen. By taking preventive steps I can be better prepared. I know
each month there will numbers those above me want to see and although I don't always know exactly which ones or how they will want to see them I
can begin to assemble them. By doing this I will no longer be overwhelmed when they tell me at 5 PM they need them by 8 AM the next day. By
building relationships I can help people to understand how my department works. I can get them to begin putting in tasks. To schedule a few days or
even a week in advanced when that major meeting with the directors and VP's will happen in order for us all to come to an understanding of what is
needed and expected. As I do these things it should open up a bit more time for recognizing

7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens Analysis
The purpose of Sean Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is to inform teens on making better choices for a better and healthier lifestyle. In
the book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, the author gives seven habits and explains each one and how you can apply them to your life. If all
these habits are applied to your life you will be much happier and in order. With these applied in your life you can also find yourself doing good
things for other people, in trouble a lot less, and making better choices for yourself and others. These seven habits that you can apply to your life are,
be proactive, begin with the end in mind, put first things first, think win–win, seek first to understand, then to be understood, synergize, and sharpen the
saw.
Habit one, be proactive, is about having a "can do" attitude and not being reactive. Habit one explains what being proactive is and what being
reactive is. Being proactive is about more than taking initiative. It is recognizing that we are responsible for our own choices, and we have the
freedom to choose based on principles and values rather than on moods or conditions. Proactive people choose not to be victims, to be reactive, or to
blame others. Habit one comes first because it is the key to unlocking all the other habits. Being proactive is about taking responsibility and not
blaming others. Applying habit one helps us with being less reactive and more proactive in your life.
In addition, habit two, begin with the end in mind, is about planning ahead and setting goals for yourself. As the author states in the book," Habit 2 is
based on imagination––the ability to envision in your mind what you cannot at present see with your eyes. It is based on the principle that all things
are created twice." Beginning with the end in mind means to begin each day or task with a clear vision of your desired direction and destination, and
then continue by flexing your proactive muscles to make things happen. It also means developing a clear picture of where you want to go with your
life. The paths you choose now can affect your future forever ,so beginning with the end in mind can help with making better choices for your future.
Next, is habit three, put first things first.

Summary Of The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens
In "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens," the book talks about multiple ways to make life better. The purpose of this book is to tell and explain
different ways you can make life a little easier. It helps you to communicate better to where people will easily understand you and understand what
you're trying to say. Habit one is about being proactive. Being proactive is like making sure you don't blame other people for you choices in life. Being
proactive or reactive is your choice, but if you always be reactive you will not get anywhere in life. Knowing who is reactive and who is proactive is
very easy because someone who is reactive will chew someone out or always be depressed or they also could be childish and give you the
silent–treatment. Knowing someone when there proactive they forgive you and give you a second chance, confronting them and tell them how you
feel, and realizing that everyone makes. Being proactive all the time can pay off because you can brush things off like it never happened or who can
always find a way to move forward in life. Making sure you always turn your mistakes into triumphs are very important in life because you cant let
your setbacks take control of your life. Sometimes you just need to push pause on life and take a little break to help you regain your strength. I plan
on using habit one in my life more so I dont always blame everything on other people.

Analysis Of 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is like a book full of advice to help teenagers who are falling and is in need of help. The book explains the
goods and the bads of each everyday habit that teens use. The book also gives you ideas and advice to help you start doing these habits the correct
way. There is 7 habits that are explained in the book, beproactive, begin with the end in mind, put first things first, think win–win, seek first to
understand, then to be understood, synergize, and sharpen the saw. I've learned a lot of things from the book like the more you listen the more you
gather information to state your own opinion, which i've been learned, and make sure to build relationships with everyone so you can gain trust
with that person. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is a good book for people who are in need of help and it can also make a big difference in life
if you follow and do what the habits say.
The first habit in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is be proactive or being proactive. This habit technically means to think before you do.
What i'm trying to say is don't react to everything that happens to you, like when a car cuts you off on the road, don't yell and scream at that driver,
just be calm and go on with your day. Be like water in a glass, water is calm and relaxed, but don't be like a soda can that was shaken up by someone,
because at some point it's going to build pressure and explode just like an angry person who has anger issues.

The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens
"The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens", a book is Sean Covey, is a about good habits that teens can follow . Each habit is as important as the
next . The book goes over things like the way you can control yourself and feelings . It also helps you out on ways to get rid of stress. These
techniques helped me and the may help you. The first habit is Be Proactive, that means for you take responsibility for your life. What that means
is for you to go out there and be like I did it and it was my fault . Most people like to blame things on others so they do not look stooped or dumb .
That is not true it makes you reliable and trustworthy . when you are trusted you can have a you can add to someone's RBA which means
Relationship Bank Account and you can all more to that by being a friend or being nice. Another thing is that being reactive and proactive. Being
proactive means to not react in a bad manner . An example is like your mom comes in your room and says that you need to clean your room. If you are
proactive you will be like ok i will clean my room no problem. If you reactivate you will active like why do I have to do that and that is no far.
Habit two is " Begin with The End in mind ". I personally think that this is one of the important habits . A quote from the book "Alice's in the
Wonderland" said" Would you tell me please which way I ought to walk from here? That depends a good deal on where youwant to get to. The cat said.
I don't much care where. Said alice.

Analysis Of Seven Habits Of Highly Effective Teens
In Sean Covey's Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens book there are 7 key things teens need to live a productive, open, and successful life.
Covey took 7 key things he though most teens now and days suffer with or have problems with and made them into habits to make them better
people. He even asked other teens about their problems related to the situation. He's able to capture the audience's by giving many reasons and
examples you could or can relate to the habits. The first habit of Sean Covey's Seven Habits Of Highly Effective Teens is to "Be Proactive". Being
proactive means our behaviors and our actions are the result of our choices, not our conditions. It also means that as human beings we are fully
responsible for our own lives. This doesn't mean to be responsible by being grumpy and rude, but to show kindness and spread joy to others. Like
the saying goes, "Be so happy that when others see you they become as happy too". The things that we are concerned about is seen as our"Circle of
Concern" and the things we can do something about is described as our "Circle of Influence". To be proactive is that you are the force to be positive
in your life. That you have to look at yourself and change actions that aren't helping.
The second habit of Seven Habits Of Highly Effective Teens is to begin with the end inmind. Like you don't want to start a problem without thinking
about the outcome of the situation. This habit practically mean to plan ahead and to make goals. Planning ahead means you most likely will achieve
your goal because you know what the outcome will be. Not beginning with the end in mind is like not thinking about tomorrow and just flowing with
life with no plan. If you we aren't clear about our end in mind, we'll wander, waste time, and get lost. The third habit of the book Seven Habits Of
Highly Effective Teens is to putfirst things first. To put first things first is to execute on most important priorities. To live a more balanced existence,
you have to recognize that not doing everything that comes along is okay. There's no need to overextend yourself. All it takes is realizing that it's
alright to say no when necessary and then focus on your highest priorities.

The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is a management tool capable of providing the necessary tools to
learn how to lead life effectively, through a process of growth and personal and interpersonal development. The first three habits are directed towards
their own success, and three on public or achievements victory for the environment, and the last habit on ability and need to continually improve.
When we discuss habits, it is necessary to mention the terms knowledge, skill and desire. These conjugates involve the achievement of the first.
Therefore to be highly effective means to do different things, changing paradigms, theories, characters, attitudes and above all develop principles that
achieve effectiveness and efficiency in daily work. The first relates to the habits proactivity, which is nothing more than the ability to take initiative
to carry out projects and tasks, as well as being responsible for our actions and decisions, be they good or bad. Or put another way, recognizing our
responsibility to do and not do, and put the best efforts to get things done. Importantly, the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People understand not change
the lives of people and organizations in days or weeks, but rather to change from the inside out, in the long term but with the difference that is to
lifetime. A second habit is to begin with the end in mind, this shows that when starting a purpose must be known in order to be achieved. It means

The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens
The purpose of Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is to better mold a teen's mind frame. Most teen's lives are crazy and have no order.
These seven habits help teens get control over their lives. The first part is the private victory, followed by the public victory, and finally the renewal.
If all of these habits are applied, they will help all teens to be more successful and get more out of life. Habit 1 is all about being proactive, and taking
charge of yourself. You can't keep blaming everything else but yourself. You are in control of your attitude towards everything that happens. In life's
situations you have the choice of either being proactive or reactive. Being reactive is allowing other people and things control you. Instead of reacting
to small stuff that have little or no control, proactive people focus on things they can control. They separate their experiences from the circumstances.
You are the force of positive actions, and changing actions that aren't helpful is the best way to take responsibility of your life. In addition, Habit 2 is
about beginning with the end in mind. This is where you create your own personal mission statement. Mission statements help you focus, clarify what
is important, and are a guide for decision making. It can be about yourself, family, or about organization. Your future is dependent on control, guidance,
and rules. A solid foundation of your own principles will help you be a leader. Furthermore, Habit 3 is about

Introduction This paper takes the topics and theories discussed in the book; The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and applies it to nursing
practice. We will take a look at the book's background and how the work is implemented in nursing. Throughout this paper, I will introduce a few
of the relevant habits, what they represent and how they can be applied to different nursing roles. Furthermore, I will conduct a personal reflection
on how the topics presented influenced my personal growth and how I use them in my personal practice. Background/ History "Character, noun:
the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual." ("Oxford Dictionaries", 2013). If we can remember all the way back to elementary
math, some of us might be able to recall that we were once told that the whole is more than the sum of its parts. While I will skip the arithmetic
aspect of that phrase, we can see that it is applicable to many areas of our lives. The most relevant is that our character is no greater than the sum of
all of our habits, good or bad. This is where Covey starts his work. The major concept of this book is that no person is born, from day one, naturally
effective. Every "massively effective" person has acquired habits that have propelled them to their success. To substantiate his concept, Covey has taken
a look back through the history of America and has identified who achieved success during that time and what they did to get there. From these great

I am not only trying to change myself on the inside but I also have to change myself on the outside. Covey (2004) discusses about the four dimensions
of renewal that include: the physical, mental, spiritual, and social/emotional dimensions (p. 300). It is cleansing my spiritual dimension by meditating
with peace or with God, or just rethinking about what my values and goals are in life. It is renewing my physical dimension by eating the right
foods, working out, and taking care of my body. It is continuing to learn new things and being open to new ideas to renew my mental dimension.
Lastly, it is communicating effectively, synergizing, and creating relationships with people to enhance my social/emotional dimension. Renewing
myself can change my perspective on life, how I perform at work and at school. It can change my attitude and my confidence in myself. However, I
need to work on the four dimensions in a balanced way. I must retain balance and make sure that I am working on the renewal of the four dimensions
because if I do not have balance, I will have difficulty in accomplishing the renewal of another

I think win/lose way to often, it demonstrates my selfishness that is influencing me. It generated a negative emotional bank account by my sister. I
think win/lose, especially with my sister; I believe I made her think lose/win to get it over with. She doesn't think that way just with me, but also
with other people, because I think I made her insecure about herself. Now that I have realized that, I am trying to compensate by either thinking
lose/win or win/win. So I will get back in the positive emotional bank account. It is quite a challenge for someone who has always been thinking win
/lose to go over to win/win or lose/win. I do believe I have been working on it very well and that it's going a lot better. It has already demonstrated my
self–awareness, and imagination, but I have to listen a little more to my conscience, to accomplish my independent will. Covey's habit 4 I believe is
one of the easiest habit but also a very effective habit to become successful and well–liked, without having to take advantage of anyone. I loved to read
his examples, especially the one of the software company that was almost going bankrupt and accepted to not follow the contract, but then after that

After reading both Stephen R. Covey's book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" and John C Maxwell's book "The 21 Indispensable
Qualities of a Leader" I can say both of them presented very effective reading tools that shows you ways to improve your overall daily life. The
way Stephen Covey accomplished this was by proving us, which is in the title itself, the seven habits which are based on principles. After you
learn and develop these principles, they bring long term benefits just like John C Maxwell's Qualities do as well. The way John C Maxwell
accomplishes this is by proving us a list of the top qualities he thought every leader needed and with those top qualities, he explained in every
chapter separately, in a simple easy to read step by step guide of how to recognize, grow, and learn every quality in each chapter. John C Maxwell's
book and Stephen R. Covey's both encourage us to embody these qualities or principles to help better ourselves and improve all overall daily life.
Here are some ways that the two books The 7 habits of Highly Effective People and The 21 Qualities of a Leader comes together. The first place
that the two books come together is Habit1, Principles of Personal Vision and the quality Vision. In Habit 1 Covey explains "until we take how we

Seven Habits Essay
Sean Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is intended as a guide to help teens improve themselves and become successful in life. Its
primary focuses are how to take control of your life, set and achieve goals, build friendships, maintain quality relationships, withstand peer pressure, and
improve self–image. It consists of seven habits– Be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win–Win, Seek First to
Understand, Then to Be Understood, Synergize, and Sharpen the saw. These habits are each designed to help you lead your best life. From this book, I
have learned to take care of and love myself, maintain healthy relationships with others, work towards my goals, and resist anything that could
potentially harm me or prevent me from doing these things.
The first habit portrayed in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is Be Proactive. Being proactive means taking responsibility of your life and
thinking before you act. As the book states, Proactive people are aware that "they can't control everything that happens to them, but they can control
what they do about it." The opposite of being proactive is being reactive, which is what the book is trying to steer you away from. Reactive people act
on feelings and don't take the time to assess the situation. This habit has taught me that how you react to situations determines the outcome. Even if the
situation is negative, if you are proactive and have a good, responsible

The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People Essay
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Summary The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is a best selling book by Stephen R. Covey. The book
has become a management tool for many companies. Covey wrote the book after reviewing literature on success from the last two centuries. Covey
discovered that as he reviewed the literature on success, that the most current literature was based mainly on success based on having the "right"
personality traits. Covey calls this the "Personality Ethic". The Personality Ethic focuses more on success being a product of personality traits and
maintaining a positive attitude. The author stresses that people need to go back to the "Character Ethic" which is based on what Covey calls
"natural laws" that have always existed. The Character Ethic focuses on principles such as fairness, integrity, honesty, human dignity, service and
quality. Covey wants people to examine their way of thinking from the "inside out" to see if we are applying the Personality Ethic or the Character
Ethic. The Seven Habits Covey explains that habits are "powerful factors in our lives" and he defines habits as "the intersection of knowledge, skill,
and desire". (Covey, pg 46–47). Effective habits are defined as internalized principles and patterns of behavior. The Seven Habits that Covey tells the
reader about are in harmony with natural laws and therefore, in harmony with the Character Ethic. On the paradigm that Covey has presented to the

The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People
The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People Summary
Kelley Calhoun
What happens when success feels empty? Steven Covey answers this question and lays out a path of seven habits needed to be truly successful and
fulfilled. Covey believes that the way we see the world is based entirely on our own perceptions. To affect change, we must change the way we
perceive the world. Early in history successful people worked on character ethics like integrity, temperance, courage, modesty, and the Golden Rule.
Somewhere around the 1920's, success seekers shifted to personality ethics where success is a result of personality, public image, attitudes and
behaviors. Many people want a quick fix or a shortcut to success without putting in the work. These people look to self–help gurus and their books for
the magic trick to achieving their success. To achieve this perception change, Covey came up with seven habits: be proactive, begin with the end in
mind, put first things first, think win/win; seek first to understand, then to be understood; synergize; and sharpen the saw.
Covey's first habit is to be proactive. Being proactive means understanding a situation and discerning the things we have control over and making
changes accordingly. To put this habit into practice Covey suggests being proactive instead of reactive. We are in charge of our lives by choosing
how we react to events in our lives. He states that if you are unhappy, it is because you choose to be unhappy. Being proactive

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is considered by many people as a personal development book when
it was published in the year 1990. The principles that are mentioned within the book are general and are not limited to management, workplace,
leadership, etc. Dr. Stephen Covey presented those concepts within his book which helped people in not only to grow and change but, to become more
effective in any aspect of human responsibility that anyone can imagine. The seven habits mentioned within the book are quite easy to understand
however, they are difficult to apply within practice. In many ways the habits are quite simple but, they require varying degrees that may entail changes

The book is related to the development of the core set of values till that point where drawing solutions to various problems can be sought out and
making an individual the most effective person within every aspect of life. As a matter of fact, the seven habits are different ways to draw
fundamental truths within the life of a person and make them accessible at all times. This is important because when a person is facing problems,
they will be in a position to easily resolve them in a sensible and consistent manner. The book has been produced to become a substantial body for
teaching and educational purposes. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People can be rendered as the first and the most significant popular creation and
will most probably remain as one of the greatest contribution of Covey to humanist approach. Following mentioned is a quick summary of the seven

The Seven Habits An Overview
In 1989, Stephen Covey 's book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People started a landmark revolution in how we think about time and life
management. In this book, Covey presents seven principles for developing effectiveness in our private and public lives. By developing these habits, one
moves from being dependent on other people to being and acting independently. Then we learn how to move to the more advanced state of
interdependence and successful Cooperation. As a part of the seven habits. Covey introduces important and powerful techniques of time management
under the habit of "Put First Things First." It is necessary to understand (and Practice) all seven habits so that the tools of time management can be ...

Habit 3 : Put First Things First. The habit of personal management. First Things are those things you find most worth doing according to your
personal vision of your mission. We use these priorities to manage our time and events so that every day we are sure to keep these first things first in
our lives. A key concept related to this habit is "Quadrant II Planning." The diagram at the end of this section is what Covey calls a "Time Management
Matrix." The top of the matrix divides the blocks into things that are Urgent, and Not urgent, and the left side divides the matrix into Important and Not
important. Here is a summary of the quadrants. Quadrant I : Urgent and important. This quadrant includes those items that represent true crises (your
mother has a stroke and you need to bring her to the hospital), deadline driven projects (a paper that has a deadline that can not be moved, and
represents a substantial part of your grade) and other such truly important and pressing items. Quadrant II : Not urgent but important. This quadrant
includes items that are truly important in our lives (preparation, relationships, relaxation, self–renewal, etc.) that we truly need to do to maintain our PC
abilities. Unfortunately, since they are not urgent ("Oh, I can put that off!") we tend not to do them. We procrastinate because they are not urgent.
Unfortunately, if we do this long enough, this tends to create highly urgent crises

The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People
"The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" Why I chose The 7 Habits I chose the book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen R
Covey for multiple reasons. Stephen Covey is not only an author but also a teacher, organizational consultant and is known as a family expert. He
has also written multiple other books included "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families" and has a large family of his own with nine children.
Convey got his Masters of Business Administration degree from Harvard and also has his doctorate degree. Instantly I was inspired by Convey
because I also want to have a large family and eventually earn my MBA. I find all of his achievements extremely impressive and his Habits
trustworthy because he has been able to balance his personal and professional life while becoming a well know author. The book stood out to me
on the book list because I have been struggling with time management and I thought learning about becoming more effective would really help
me. The other reason I chose this book is because my dad had to read "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" in previous job he worked in. The
entire finance department where my dad used to work was required to read this book so I knew that it must have some useful information and
compelling lessons to take away. Short Summary of the Application of the 7 Habits: The 7 Habits can be easily applied to a lot of the ideas from the
text book and also to many aspects in life, not just business related

This all plays off of the most effective way to begin with the end in mind. That is, approach your role in life with clear values and directions. Begin
each day with those values firmly in mind. The best way to do this is to develop a personal mission statement. A mission statement identifies where
you want to be and helps you determine where you are. It gives you important information on how to get there and tells you when you've arrived.
Achieving the end is harder than we usually imagine it to be. Some ways to help our progress can be found in the four life–support systems: Security,
Guidance, Wisdom, and Power. These represent your self worth, give you a sense of direction and balance, and provide the capacity to
accomplish goals. Good affirmation has five basic ingredients: it's personal, positive, present tense, visual, and emotional. Using the affirmation
process day after day will eventually change our behavior. We will learn to live out our lives by the script we wrote for ourselves. Discussion and
Rating. Right now is the time in my life where I need to be thinking about the next step in my life. I need to focus on my future and figure out what
I want to do with my life. Habit 2 will be very useful to me in the next coming weeks as I look for jobs or internships that lead into jobs. Jumping from

7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens Essay
Throughout Sean Covey's Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens, I found myself questioning what I could do to integrate his habits into my life.
Would working with my enemies benefit me, as it did the teens in Covey's Habit 4 chapter? Would this be a better essay had I started a week earlier
and prioritized like Habit 3 told me to? With these questions and others in mind, I ventured through Covey's novel in constant fear that I would realize
that I was doing yet another thing wrong. This fear was well deserved, as half of the book caused me to think about my own procrastination, inability
to work with others, and win–lose attitude. The fact of the matter is, I have been told these things before; wether it be by parents, teachers, or coaches,...

Huffington utilized this skill in college, where her heavy Grecian accent labeled her as an outsider on her school's debate team. Despite this obstacle,
Huffington set a goal to overcome her situation, and become inherently successful. Later on in her life, when Huffington was campaigning for her
husband's unsuccessful senatorial bid, she created a goal to raise money and support for the campaign. Not only did Huffington's collections eclipse
her original goal, but she learned of the rising importance of online media, and the influence it has on the current generation. Her aim turned towards
this new superpower in the hopes of creating a platform in which many voices may be heard. Huffington persevered, using the same skills taught in
Covey's novel, despite the rising opposition. "Before we launched, a lot of people, including my friends, tried to dissuade me." Huffington stated in
the SUCCESS article, continuing to say, "Very often there are going to be naysayers and critics. But don't let that dominate, or you won't be able to do
something new and risky." In Covey's book, specifically the portion about habit two, he expresses, "Never assume that the herd must know where they
are going, because they usually don't.", a quotation which explains the importance of making ones own goals to succeed. As one may note, success has
many variations and definitions, and while Huffington is extremely successful, she has also suffered an injury that was an alarming wake up call. Once
again, though, Huffington solved this problem by advocating yet another of Covey's habits: habit seven, sharpening the

How do you organize your life? What goals do you have? "The 7 Habits of highly effective teens" by sean covey talks about skills you can use to
set these goals and organize your life. The first 3 habits of the book have to do with being proactive and setting goals/priorities and achieving those
goals. Being proactive can challenge you but is worth it. "There's only one thing we can control, how we respond to what happens to us. "(Covey 54)
What the author means in this quote is you can't control anything that happens to you, you can only choose how you react. My mentor, Jeff Davis,

since being a teen is like living in a jungle. The very first highly effective habit is Be Proactive. This habit is about being proactive, which is the

Win–Win, but it all begins with you. You have to look at the glass half empty, just like those t

something called Tumor Twins, the first twin is competing, which in some cases can be really healthy and drive a person to success, but in other
not so much, Covey compares competition to 'the Force' in the movie 'Star Wars,' the main character looks discovers he has something called the
force, which is positive powers, he later discovers the antagonist, Darth Vader, has the force powers, just like Luke, only evil, or the dark side of
the force. This is what competing is like, it can be a good thing that drives us to success, it can also be dark, the dark side is not the nice side. The
dark side of competition is where things can get ugly, people can get so sucked up into winning that they will sabotage or hurt anyone to make
themselves look better. The other tumor twin to avoid is, comparing, and it's just as bad, the book quotes "Life is like a great obstacle course.
Each person has their own course , separated from every other course by tall walls. Your course comes complete with customized obstacles
designed specifically for your personal growth. So what good does it do to climb the wall to see how well your neighbor is doing or to check out his
obstacles in comparison to your own?" We need to focus on us rather than everyone else, winners focus on winning, and losers focus on winners. To
think win–win we need to be comfortable with ourselves first, it is hard to think positively when you can't even think positive about

as find a new vision. Covey's third habit is called first things first. No one can do everything; I have to prioritize. Liberty University as a whole has

the priority I hope to learn is on my academics. With a heavier and more challenging workload I will have to learn how to prioritize my studies more

Throughout reading Sean Covey's 7 Habits of HIghly Effective Teens you made undergo modifications in your own life if you are considering the
life changing statements he made. The purpose of this book was to inspire and change young adults habits that they have conjured up. I have
actually been able to apply some of these habits in my own life.He has taught me and some of my classmates many lesson as we have read and
overviewed the text. These principles or habits have taught me about a healthy relationship, how to make smarter choices for my life, trusting that I
have self worth, and how to make me and my parents relationship better. When people talk about being proactive they are most likely referring to
the first habit in the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. This chapter is about controlling your responses to certain situations. For instance if you are
in a tough position instead of overreacting and handling a difficult situation badly you could calm down and thoroughly think your response out.If
you look in the listen to your language section it says,"You can tell the difference between proactive and reactive people by the language they
use."This is true just by the way you sound you can tell how people will react to a situation. This habit is crucial when it comes to problem solving
and if you end up in a bad situation. You can not control what happens to you but you can control how you react. If you apply these concepts to your
life things will not be as complicated.

our own way. If the journey of our lives is like our journey in a car, being proactive means being the driver. The reactive people are the passengers
in their own car, and they are letting other people or the condition to drive for them. While the reactive people wait for good things to happen to their
lives, proactive people make them happen. They look for the things they want and if they cannot find one, they create one. They know what things

I had taken part in writing mission statements, and I thought it was intriguing when Covey mentions, "Most companies, like Coca–Cola, have mission
statements. But I think they work best with people" (81), because I didn't realize people even made them. Remembering I used to write "Love God,
love others," on my arm in permanent marker, and considering my mother's advice on choosing a career, I crafted a short, clear mission statement that
will travel and grow with me throughout my life: Love God, Love Others, Love Thyself, & Love What You Do.
In order to grow and travel and abide by this mission statement, however, I must prioritize my life. In the beginning of Put First Things First, Covey
provides an anecdote about the responsibilities of modern day teenagers:
"I was listening to a speech on tape when the speaker began comparing the challenges faced by today's teens to those of teens who lived 150 years
ago. I listened with interest. I agreed with most of what he said until this: 'The challenge that teens faced 150 years ago was hard work. The challenge
that teens face today is a lack of hard work.' [...] I think teens are busier today and working harder than ever" (106).
I admire the fact that Covey stands up for my generation and defends us against pessimists who believe millennials have no work ethic, but I had
never considered the fact that my priorities could be out of whack, even with the busy schedule and work ethic I try

Highly Sensitive Research Paper
A highly sensitive person has high sensitivity to the world around them. High sensitivity, also called sensory processing sensitivity, is a completely
normal trait that affects between 15 to 20% of the population, or 1.4 billion people, according to experts on the subject.
People can have a lot of success despite being highly stimulated by the world around them. For example, Alanis Morissette has openly talked about
how she is a highly sensitive person and often felt misunderstood and misperceived, but that hasn't stopped her from doing some great things in this
world.
It's interesting that being highly sensitive is not limited to humans. Biologists have discovered this trait in over 100 species, including dogs, horses, and
even birds.
We tend to use the term 'highly sensitive person' as a bad label for someone. For instance, we might call... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They See And Feel The Beauty In Life More Intensely
Many people who are highly sensitive have an appreciation for music, art, love, and joy that people who are not don't feel. The thought of something
beautiful, like true love, can bring tears to their eyes and resonate deeply into their soul.
People who are highly sensitive find that they are moved by the beauty of nature. The trees, the mountains, the rivers, the oceans, and the animals in
nature all touch a chord in them that makes them feel love, peace, and gratitude more intensity.
Moreover, they notice the subtle things in life more, such as the little flower that goes unnoticed by other people. They cherish those little things, and
they are the people who inspire others to stop and smell the roses!
4. They Have Deeper Conversations And Interactions With Others
People who are highly sensitive find it easier to talk about important things. They may not find small talk, such as the weather, that important. But,
when they hear about something that has some deeper meaning about life, love, or emotions, they are more likely to participate in the

Habit One be proactive, is about being well proactive. Whats proactive you may ask. Well being proactive is being calm andunderstanding. Being
proactive is being more friendly to your loved ones and people in general. In the first habit, it brings up a pba aka you personal bank account, And
what you do with that is you make deposits by doing good things for yourself and others, But there's another thing if you do something bad you have to
take a withdraw from it. All through the habit, it talks about helping others but not to push yourself too far because you could hurt yourself mentally by
doing it. Habit two Begin with the end in mind, is about Beginning with the end in mind. How do you do that you may ask. Well you begin with what
you want to do with anything you want. Especially in school, you need to figure out what you want to be and focus on grades before anything. If you

Habits Of Highly Effective Teens By Sean Covey
High School is a huge milestone for everyone, and for many, it can be a lot to take in all at once. In the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, Author
Sean Covey goes over 7 habits, that if applied to everyone's lives, (Including Adults) can bring them more success and become highly effective. The
habits discuss useful tips and tricks to accomplish your goals and make a difference, to fulfill your greatest aspirations and start preparing as a young
adult ready to work up to success.
Habit 1 discusses being proactive instead of reactive, and taking control of your own decisions and how that can benefit you. The author uses multiple
examples on how to deal with certain situations and encourages/recommends self–courageous thoughts. An example of the author doing this was, "if
you believe you are smart, that belief will cast a rosy hue on everything you do" (Covey 13). This statement alone can inspire many freshman and

also help you learn to overcome your fears and be strong during hard moments" (Covey 111). Here, the author is attempting to persuade the reader by

Covey Paper
Habits come in many forms and they may be good, bad or just in between and not really matter. It could be positive thinking, blaming yourself or
something as simple as forgetting to turn off the lights. Stephen Covey defines habits as the intersection of knowledge, skill and desire. In his book,
"7 Habits of Highly Effective People", he shares a couple of habits that can lead an individual to personal and professional success. Out of the seven
habits, I feel that the first three which are being proactive, beginning with the end in mind and putting first things first are the most fundamental habits
to paving the road for becoming a better individual and manager.
Being proactive means to take action and be responsible. Covey expresses that "Highly proactive people recognize responsibility. They do not blame
circumstances, conditions, or conditioning for their behavior." (Covey). In accordance with Covey's idea of being proactive, many people do not want
to assume responsibility. As an individual, something that is really important about being proactive is being able to accept ambiguity. Being able to be
okay with the unknown is a key factor to avoid being reactive and letting your environment influence your choice. New and old managers do not have to

at times they lose focus on the "End" and let the "Now" shape their decisions. With what this habit entails, managers must also make sure that the
decision they make is what truly matters to them. Some make decisions that go against their moral values and in the end lose meaning about what lies

7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens Analysis

  • 1. Highly Effective Teens "Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt" (118) Shakespeare quoted in Measure for Measure. Sean Covey stated one of the most well–known author's quotes in his novel, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, for habit three. The particular habit involves organizing your schedule to place the imperative and essential activities first. Covey describes four kinds of people in the chapter: the procrastinator, the prioritizer, the yes–man, and the slacker. I am personally a mixture of the procrastinator and the prioritizer. I may well be organized and systematic although, I need assistance going through with my plans and schedule. Habit three aided me through my difficulties with placing important activities first and still having time to unwind.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It offers advice to its readers on how to think win–win. It is the belief that in the end, everyone can win if they have the correct attitude towards life. My life has mostly been a win–lose or a lose–win situation, therefore, I am in need of working on habit four. The last habit that made an impression on me is number six. It teaches its readers how to synergize, or to create a better solution when two or more people work together. According to Covey, synergy celebrates differences, promotes teamwork and open–mindedness, and is about finding innovative and improved ways. Habit six is one of the prevalent habits I need to practice and involve in my everyday life. It will benefit me in the long run and open my eyes to help and celebrate others, rather than judge ... • 2. The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People When facing a problem, human nature looks for a "quick fix." Whether it is the latest diet fad or a get rich scheme, almost all "quick fixes" produce the same short–lived results and often no results at all. As a society, we are drawn to the appeal of a quick and easy route which leads to immediate results. We have grown accustomed to an easy lifestyle that uses superficial tactics when interacting with others. The problem with these quick fixes is that they deceive us into believing it is possible to avoid going through the natural process of work and growth, an essential process in order to change. These quick solutions not only try to cheat the system, but also cause us to lose touch with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, that did not stop him. He worked in Decon that summer for my father's company handling machinery, which was quite dangerous. While the job had nothing to do with his major, mechanical engineering, he continued to try and use this opportunity to learn as much as he could about the company while getting some good work experience. Impressed by his work ethic, the company told him that he should definitely try to apply for an intern position the following summer. Despite the unfortunate conditions, my brother did not complain, but instead tried to remain positive and make the best of the whole situations. His experience showed me that even if we cannot control the situation we can control how we react to it. The second habit, "Beginning with the End in Mind," was by far the most inspiring and meaningful habit of all. This chapter began by telling me to imagine my funeral and to imagine the significant people in my life in attendance and what they would say about me. While the text portrayed a morbid scene, the visualization exercise was extremely powerful. The exercise made me think about what I want people to remember me for, what accomplishments I want to have completed, and what kind of impact I want to have on the people around me. While thinking about what I want to have completed during the course of my life, I then began to question whether or not the things I am doing today are helping me to reach my ... • 3. Examples Of 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens "7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens" ,written by Sean Covey, is about 7 habits. The first habit is Be Proactive, second is Begin with the End In Mind, next is Put First Things First, fourth is Think Win–Win. Then there is the fifth habit, Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood, sixth is Synergize, and lastly the seventh habit is Sharpen the Saw. I learned to listen and pay attention to the person speaking. That way you can get to know the person and yourself better. Pay attention to someone's actions. I learned to come out of my comfort zone and explore the world around me. To be kinder to others and respect their choices. That's what I learned in "7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens." The first habit is, Be Proactive. That mean you should take responsibility for your actions and words. You should not go behind someone and talk about them. You should not pull pranks or call people name. You should stand up for people and get teachers involved when you see someone getting bullied. You should go out and try to make the world a better place. An example of being proactive is," Forgive her and give her a second chance." page 50 .I can apply this habit to my life by planting a tree once a year and picking up any trash that I see one the ground. I can also apply this to my life by being more forgiving. The second habit, Begin with the End In Mind, is about thinking things through. Not going right into situation without thinking about what might happen as a result. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Essay This was not as easy a read for me. I suppose I am a victim of my generational upbringing, in that, I feel the need to be informed in an entertaining manner. This book has good information, but I had to continually check my focus. Those times when I was truly drawn in were the times when the writer was relating back to a story from his life or others and how it worked in to the particular habit he was teaching at that time. That being said, the following areas are where I believe I can use to make myself and my team better. One of the first things to come alive to me was the picture of the young girl or old woman, depending on the viewer's perspective. I had seen this picture several times before but because the book first presented a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Further what rang my proverbial bell was the fact that living in this quadrant was indeed pushing me into quadrant four. Just as the book stated, I live so much of my life fighting fires, struggling to meet hard deadlines, taking care if unhappy reports as well as unhappy customers, that when there are those moments of respites' I look for a the tranquility of the mundane. I want the quick and easy, or find myself looking over one of the guys shoulder as they have a PC torn apart because I feel if I don't have those times I will crack when the next "quadrant one activities" hit me. So what did I learn? Begin to work in quadrant two and quadrant one work will lessen. By taking preventive steps I can be better prepared. I know each month there will numbers those above me want to see and although I don't always know exactly which ones or how they will want to see them I can begin to assemble them. By doing this I will no longer be overwhelmed when they tell me at 5 PM they need them by 8 AM the next day. By building relationships I can help people to understand how my department works. I can get them to begin putting in tasks. To schedule a few days or even a week in advanced when that major meeting with the directors and VP's will happen in order for us all to come to an understanding of what is needed and expected. As I do these things it should open up a bit more time for recognizing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens Analysis The purpose of Sean Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is to inform teens on making better choices for a better and healthier lifestyle. In the book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, the author gives seven habits and explains each one and how you can apply them to your life. If all these habits are applied to your life you will be much happier and in order. With these applied in your life you can also find yourself doing good things for other people, in trouble a lot less, and making better choices for yourself and others. These seven habits that you can apply to your life are, be proactive, begin with the end in mind, put first things first, think win–win, seek first to understand, then to be understood, synergize, and sharpen the saw. Habit one, be proactive, is about having a "can do" attitude and not being reactive. Habit one explains what being proactive is and what being reactive is. Being proactive is about more than taking initiative. It is recognizing that we are responsible for our own choices, and we have the freedom to choose based on principles and values rather than on moods or conditions. Proactive people choose not to be victims, to be reactive, or to blame others. Habit one comes first because it is the key to unlocking all the other habits. Being proactive is about taking responsibility and not blaming others. Applying habit one helps us with being less reactive and more proactive in your life. In addition, habit two, begin with the end in mind, is about planning ahead and setting goals for yourself. As the author states in the book," Habit 2 is based on imagination––the ability to envision in your mind what you cannot at present see with your eyes. It is based on the principle that all things are created twice." Beginning with the end in mind means to begin each day or task with a clear vision of your desired direction and destination, and then continue by flexing your proactive muscles to make things happen. It also means developing a clear picture of where you want to go with your life. The paths you choose now can affect your future forever ,so beginning with the end in mind can help with making better choices for your future. Next, is habit three, put first things first. ... • 6. Summary Of The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens In "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens," the book talks about multiple ways to make life better. The purpose of this book is to tell and explain different ways you can make life a little easier. It helps you to communicate better to where people will easily understand you and understand what you're trying to say. Habit one is about being proactive. Being proactive is like making sure you don't blame other people for you choices in life. Being proactive or reactive is your choice, but if you always be reactive you will not get anywhere in life. Knowing who is reactive and who is proactive is very easy because someone who is reactive will chew someone out or always be depressed or they also could be childish and give you the silent–treatment. Knowing someone when there proactive they forgive you and give you a second chance, confronting them and tell them how you feel, and realizing that everyone makes. Being proactive all the time can pay off because you can brush things off like it never happened or who can always find a way to move forward in life. Making sure you always turn your mistakes into triumphs are very important in life because you cant let your setbacks take control of your life. Sometimes you just need to push pause on life and take a little break to help you regain your strength. I plan on using habit one in my life more so I dont always blame everything on other people. Habit two is begin with the end in mind. Beginning with the end in mind is you having ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The book explains the goods and the bads of each everyday habit that teens use. The book also gives you ideas and advice to help you start doing these habits the correct way. There is 7 habits that are explained in the book, beproactive, begin with the end in mind, put first things first, think win–win, seek first to understand, then to be understood, synergize, and sharpen the saw. I've learned a lot of things from the book like the more you listen the more you gather information to state your own opinion, which i've been learned, and make sure to build relationships with everyone so you can gain trust with that person. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is a good book for people who are in need of help and it can also make a big difference in life if you follow and do what the habits say. The first habit in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is be proactive or being proactive. This habit technically means to think before you do. What i'm trying to say is don't react to everything that happens to you, like when a car cuts you off on the road, don't yell and scream at that driver, just be calm and go on with your day. Be like water in a glass, water is calm and relaxed, but don't be like a soda can that was shaken up by someone, because at some point it's going to build pressure and explode just like an angry person who has anger issues. ... • 9. The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens "The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens", a book is Sean Covey, is a about good habits that teens can follow . Each habit is as important as the next . The book goes over things like the way you can control yourself and feelings . It also helps you out on ways to get rid of stress. These techniques helped me and the may help you. The first habit is Be Proactive, that means for you take responsibility for your life. What that means is for you to go out there and be like I did it and it was my fault . Most people like to blame things on others so they do not look stooped or dumb . That is not true it makes you reliable and trustworthy . when you are trusted you can have a you can add to someone's RBA which means Relationship Bank Account and you can all more to that by being a friend or being nice. Another thing is that being reactive and proactive. Being proactive means to not react in a bad manner . An example is like your mom comes in your room and says that you need to clean your room. If you are proactive you will be like ok i will clean my room no problem. If you reactivate you will active like why do I have to do that and that is no far. Habit two is " Begin with The End in mind ". I personally think that this is one of the important habits . A quote from the book "Alice's in the Wonderland" said" Would you tell me please which way I ought to walk from here? That depends a good deal on where youwant to get to. The cat said. I don't much care where. Said alice. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Analysis Of Seven Habits Of Highly Effective Teens In Sean Covey's Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens book there are 7 key things teens need to live a productive, open, and successful life. Covey took 7 key things he though most teens now and days suffer with or have problems with and made them into habits to make them better people. He even asked other teens about their problems related to the situation. He's able to capture the audience's by giving many reasons and examples you could or can relate to the habits. The first habit of Sean Covey's Seven Habits Of Highly Effective Teens is to "Be Proactive". Being proactive means our behaviors and our actions are the result of our choices, not our conditions. It also means that as human beings we are fully responsible for our own lives. This doesn't mean to be responsible by being grumpy and rude, but to show kindness and spread joy to others. Like the saying goes, "Be so happy that when others see you they become as happy too". The things that we are concerned about is seen as our"Circle of Concern" and the things we can do something about is described as our "Circle of Influence". To be proactive is that you are the force to be positive in your life. That you have to look at yourself and change actions that aren't helping. The second habit of Seven Habits Of Highly Effective Teens is to begin with the end inmind. Like you don't want to start a problem without thinking about the outcome of the situation. This habit practically mean to plan ahead and to make goals. Planning ahead means you most likely will achieve your goal because you know what the outcome will be. Not beginning with the end in mind is like not thinking about tomorrow and just flowing with life with no plan. If you we aren't clear about our end in mind, we'll wander, waste time, and get lost. The third habit of the book Seven Habits Of Highly Effective Teens is to putfirst things first. To put first things first is to execute on most important priorities. To live a more balanced existence, you have to recognize that not doing everything that comes along is okay. There's no need to overextend yourself. All it takes is realizing that it's alright to say no when necessary and then focus on your highest priorities. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first three habits are directed towards their own success, and three on public or achievements victory for the environment, and the last habit on ability and need to continually improve. • 13. The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens The purpose of Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is to better mold a teen's mind frame. Most teen's lives are crazy and have no order. These seven habits help teens get control over their lives. The first part is the private victory, followed by the public victory, and finally the renewal. If all of these habits are applied, they will help all teens to be more successful and get more out of life. Habit 1 is all about being proactive, and taking charge of yourself. You can't keep blaming everything else but yourself. You are in control of your attitude towards everything that happens. In life's situations you have the choice of either being proactive or reactive. Being reactive is allowing other people and things control you. Instead of reacting to small stuff that have little or no control, proactive people focus on things they can control. They separate their experiences from the circumstances. You are the force of positive actions, and changing actions that aren't helpful is the best way to take responsibility of your life. In addition, Habit 2 is about beginning with the end in mind. This is where you create your own personal mission statement. Mission statements help you focus, clarify what is important, and are a guide for decision making. It can be about yourself, family, or about organization. Your future is dependent on control, guidance, and rules. A solid foundation of your own principles will help you be a leader. The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People Introduction This paper takes the topics and theories discussed in the book; The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and applies it to nursing practice. We will take a look at the book's background and how the work is implemented in nursing. Throughout this paper, I will introduce a few of the relevant habits, what they represent and how they can be applied to different nursing roles. Furthermore, I will conduct a personal reflection on how the topics presented influenced my personal growth and how I use them in my personal practice. If we can remember all the way back to elementary math, some of us might be able to recall that we were once told that the whole is more than the sum of its parts. While I will skip the arithmetic aspect of that phrase, we can see that it is applicable to many areas of our lives. The most relevant is that our character is no greater than the sum of all of our habits, good or bad. This is where Covey starts his work. The major concept of this book is that no person is born, from day one, naturally effective. Every "massively effective" person has acquired habits that have propelled them to their success. To substantiate his concept, Covey has taken a look back through the history of America and has identified who achieved success during that time and what they did to get there. From these great ... • 16. 7 Habits of Highly Effective People I think win/lose way to often, it demonstrates my selfishness that is influencing me. It generated a negative emotional bank account by my sister. I think win/lose, especially with my sister; I believe I made her think lose/win to get it over with. She doesn't think that way just with me, but also with other people, because I think I made her insecure about herself. Now that I have realized that, I am trying to compensate by either thinking lose/win or win/win. So I will get back in the positive emotional bank account. It is quite a challenge for someone who has always been thinking win /lose to go over to win/win or lose/win. I do believe I have been working on it very well and that it's going a lot better. It has already demonstrated my self–awareness, and imagination, but I have to listen a little more to my conscience, to accomplish my independent will. Covey's habit 4 I believe is one of the easiest habit but also a very effective habit to become successful and well–liked, without having to take advantage of anyone. I loved to read his examples, especially the one of the software company that was almost going bankrupt and accepted to not follow the contract, but then after that was asked for a way bigger service. Covey's book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" and John C Maxwell's book "The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader" I can say both of them presented very effective reading tools that shows you ways to improve your overall daily life. The way Stephen Covey accomplished this was by proving us, which is in the title itself, the seven habits which are based on principles. After you learn and develop these principles, they bring long term benefits just like John C Maxwell's Qualities do as well. The way John C Maxwell accomplishes this is by proving us a list of the top qualities he thought every leader needed and with those top qualities, he explained in every chapter separately, in a simple easy to read step by step guide of how to recognize, grow, and learn every quality in each chapter. John C Maxwell's book and Stephen R. Covey's both encourage us to embody these qualities or principles to help better ourselves and improve all overall daily life. Here are some ways that the two books The 7 habits of Highly Effective People and The 21 Qualities of a Leader comes together. The first place that the two books come together is Habit1, Principles of Personal Vision and the quality Vision. • 19. Examples Of 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens Seven Habits Essay Sean Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is intended as a guide to help teens improve themselves and become successful in life. Its primary focuses are how to take control of your life, set and achieve goals, build friendships, maintain quality relationships, withstand peer pressure, and improve self–image. It consists of seven habits– Be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win–Win, Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood, Synergize, and Sharpen the saw. These habits are each designed to help you lead your best life. From this book, I have learned to take care of and love myself, maintain healthy relationships with others, work towards my goals, and resist anything that could potentially harm me or prevent me from doing these things. The first habit portrayed in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is Be Proactive. Being proactive means taking responsibility of your life and thinking before you act. As the book states, Proactive people are aware that "they can't control everything that happens to them, but they can control what they do about it." The opposite of being proactive is being reactive, which is what the book is trying to steer you away from. Reactive people act on feelings and don't take the time to assess the situation. This habit has taught me that how you react to situations determines the outcome. Even if the situation is negative, if you are proactive and have a good, responsible ... • 20. The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People Essay The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Summary The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is a best selling book by Stephen R. Covey. The book has become a management tool for many companies. Covey wrote the book after reviewing literature on success from the last two centuries. Covey discovered that as he reviewed the literature on success, that the most current literature was based mainly on success based on having the "right" personality traits. Covey calls this the "Personality Ethic". The Personality Ethic focuses more on success being a product of personality traits and maintaining a positive attitude. The author stresses that people need to go back to the "Character Ethic" which is based on what Covey calls "natural laws" that have always existed. The Character Ethic focuses on principles such as fairness, integrity, honesty, human dignity, service and quality. Covey wants people to examine their way of thinking from the "inside out" to see if we are applying the Personality Ethic or the Character Ethic. The Seven Habits Covey explains that habits are "powerful factors in our lives" and he defines habits as "the intersection of knowledge, skill, and desire". (Covey, pg 46–47). Effective habits are defined as internalized principles and patterns of behavior. The Seven Habits that Covey tells the reader about are in harmony with natural laws and therefore, in harmony with the Character Ethic. • 21. The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People Summary Kelley Calhoun What happens when success feels empty? Steven Covey answers this question and lays out a path of seven habits needed to be truly successful and fulfilled. Covey believes that the way we see the world is based entirely on our own perceptions. To affect change, we must change the way we perceive the world. Early in history successful people worked on character ethics like integrity, temperance, courage, modesty, and the Golden Rule. Somewhere around the 1920's, success seekers shifted to personality ethics where success is a result of personality, public image, attitudes and behaviors. Many people want a quick fix or a shortcut to success without putting in the work. These people look to self–help gurus and their books for the magic trick to achieving their success. To achieve this perception change, Covey came up with seven habits: be proactive, begin with the end in mind, put first things first, think win/win; seek first to understand, then to be understood; synergize; and sharpen the saw. Covey's first habit is to be proactive. Being proactive means understanding a situation and discerning the things we have control over and making changes accordingly. To put this habit into practice Covey suggests being proactive instead of reactive. We are in charge of our lives by choosing how we react to events in our lives. He states that if you are unhappy, it is because you choose to be unhappy. Being proactive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The diagram at the end of this section is what Covey calls a "Time Management Matrix." The top of the matrix divides the blocks into things that are Urgent, and Not urgent, and the left side divides the matrix into Important and Not important. Here is a summary of the quadrants. This habit is about thinking positively, or proactively. Life won't go anywhere except down if you think like a loser. The book teaches how to think Win–Win, but it all begins with you. You have to look at the glass half empty, just like those t –shirts that say "Good Vibes Only." We want to avoid something called Tumor Twins, the first twin is competing, which in some cases can be really healthy and drive a person to success, but in other not so much, Covey compares competition to 'the Force' in the movie 'Star Wars,' the main character looks discovers he has something called the force, which is positive powers, he later discovers the antagonist, Darth Vader, has the force powers, just like Luke, only evil, or the dark side of the force. This is what competing is like, it can be a good thing that drives us to success, it can also be dark, the dark side is not the nice side. The dark side of competition is where things can get ugly, people can get so sucked up into winning that they will sabotage or hurt anyone to make themselves look better. The other tumor twin to avoid is, comparing, and it's just as bad, the book quotes "Life is like a great obstacle course. Each person has their own course , separated from every other course by tall walls. Your course comes complete with customized obstacles designed specifically for your personal growth. So what good does it do to climb the wall to see how well your neighbor is doing or to check out his obstacles in comparison to your own?" We need to focus on us rather than everyone else, winners focus on winning, and losers focus on winners. To think win–win we need to be comfortable with ourselves first, it is hard to think positively when you can't even think positive about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No one can do everything; I have to prioritize. Liberty University as a whole has an emphasis on faith and teaches its students how to make God a priority. I hope to gain that same mindset and practice. From the honors program the priority I hope to learn is on my academics. With a heavier and more challenging workload I will have to learn how to prioritize my studies more than I already do. From my well–qualified teachers and ambitious peers I plan to learn study skills and habits. Taylor Webb wrote, "I developed close friendships with other honors students and faculty, who pushed me to study harder and smarter." Webb and his fellow students knew the importance of studying and pushed each other to focus on it. He keeps complaining on things that he cannot control, like the weather, the traffic jam, etc. Reactive people tend to have bad tensions and they are easily irritated. In our lives, we should lead our own way. If the journey of our lives is like our journey in a car, being proactive means being the driver. The reactive people are the passengers in their own car, and they are letting other people or the condition to drive for them. While the reactive people wait for good things to happen to their lives, proactive people make them happen. They look for the things they want and if they cannot find one, they create one. They know what things they can control and what things they cannot control. Reactive people complain and worry about things they cannot control while proactive people deal with the things they can control. We cannot control the conditions, but we can control our respond towards the conditions. I had taken part in writing mission statements, and I thought it was intriguing when Covey mentions, "Most companies, like Coca–Cola, have mission statements. But I think they work best with people" (81), because I didn't realize people even made them. Remembering I used to write "Love God, love others," on my arm in permanent marker, and considering my mother's advice on choosing a career, I crafted a short, clear mission statement that will travel and grow with me throughout my life: Love God, Love Others, Love Thyself, & Love What You Do. In order to grow and travel and abide by this mission statement, however, I must prioritize my life. In the beginning of Put First Things First, Covey provides an anecdote about the responsibilities of modern day teenagers: "I was listening to a speech on tape when the speaker began comparing the challenges faced by today's teens to those of teens who lived 150 years ago. I listened with interest. I agreed with most of what he said until this: 'The challenge that teens faced 150 years ago was hard work. The challenge that teens face today is a lack of hard work.' [...] I think teens are busier today and working harder than ever" (106). I admire the fact that Covey stands up for my generation and defends us against pessimists who believe millennials have no work ethic, but I had never considered the fact that my priorities could be out of whack, even with the busy schedule and work ethic I try ... High sensitivity, also called sensory processing sensitivity, is a completely normal trait that affects between 15 to 20% of the population, or 1.4 billion people, according to experts on the subject. People can have a lot of success despite being highly stimulated by the world around them. For example, Alanis Morissette has openly talked about how she is a highly sensitive person and often felt misunderstood and misperceived, but that hasn't stopped her from doing some great things in this world. It's interesting that being highly sensitive is not limited to humans. Biologists have discovered this trait in over 100 species, including dogs, horses, and even birds. In the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, Author Sean Covey goes over 7 habits, that if applied to everyone's lives, (Including Adults) can bring them more success and become highly effective. The habits discuss useful tips and tricks to accomplish your goals and make a difference, to fulfill your greatest aspirations and start preparing as a young adult ready to work up to success. Habit 1 discusses being proactive instead of reactive, and taking control of your own decisions and how that can benefit you. The author uses multiple examples on how to deal with certain situations and encourages/recommends self–courageous thoughts. An example of the author doing this was, "if you believe you are smart, that belief will cast a rosy hue on everything you do" (Covey 13). This statement alone can inspire many freshman and influence them to take more risks, and strive for greatness. It urges ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 39. What Is The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People Eric Salas Professor Gamboa BA240–03 Covey Paper Habits come in many forms and they may be good, bad or just in between and not really matter. It could be positive thinking, blaming yourself or something as simple as forgetting to turn off the lights. Stephen Covey defines habits as the intersection of knowledge, skill and desire. In his book, "7 Habits of Highly Effective People", he shares a couple of habits that can lead an individual to personal and professional success. Out of the seven habits, I feel that the first three which are being proactive, beginning with the end in mind and putting first things first are the most fundamental habits to paving the road for becoming a better individual and manager. Being proactive means to take action and be responsible. Covey expresses that "Highly proactive people recognize responsibility. They do not blame circumstances, conditions, or conditioning for their behavior." (Covey). In accordance with Covey's idea of being proactive, many people do not want to assume responsibility. As an individual, something that is really important about being proactive is being able to accept ambiguity. Being able to be okay with the unknown is a key factor to avoid being reactive and letting your environment influence your choice. New and old managers do not have to ...
