Safety professional with wide range of experience and skills developed from working both within
UKCS and Internationally in the Oil Industry. Robust knowledge in the development of HSE standards
with proven track record in effective implementation and delivery of Occupational Safety compliance. I
am comfortable working both in a leadership role and also as a team member.
Proven expertise at creating and delivering training packages on a wide number of topics with
specialist interests in emergency response and human factors. Experienced with delivering

team to ensure effective provision of quality medical services and equipment for 1,500 workers.

Medic and personnel liaison for Aker H3 mobile drilling rig Bideford Dolphin -in UK and
Norwegian sectors. Made redundant when rig stacked during oilfield slump.
3. Achievements
Through active engagement with Step Change and OGUK two of my directs reports, plus one
core contractor trained within my support team, received Safety Leadership Awards between
2010 and 2013.
Experienced Technical Author for a wide range of Occupational safety topics i.e. COSHH,
Manual Handling, DSE, DROPS, Confined Space Entry, Legionella and Potable Water,
Asbestos etc.
Conceptualised, developed and implemented Personal Risk Test within UK operations. This
process is now fully embedded in Marathon Oil organisation in the form of a tally book prompt
used to help individuals assess personal vulnerability before the job..
Developed and embedded Accountability Framework within UK operations – built the process
beyond the HSE human error model to include corporate responsibility interpretation. Model
subsequently utilised in investigations where human error was identified as a contributing
factor.
Presented ‘MOUK philosophy to DROPs’ in September 2013, ‘Community Responsibility
or Safety’ at AECC Step Change Share Fair in 2012 and resented Accountability process
to OSHA conference in Dallas in 2010.
Working as stream leader delivered change in Emergency Response structure for Brae
complex in 2008/2009 when EER equipment was updated and primary PPE moved from
cabins to mustering areas.
Author of ‘Silence Is Consent’ behavioural safety video adopted by Step Change Initiative
circa 1999
Skilled Medic with proven track record in casualty management. I performed the first proven
North Sea successful resuscitation of cardiac arrest offshore on the East Brae platform in
Decmber1994.
