Heering provides specialized transportation equipment for day old chicks to ensure they arrive at farms in optimal condition. Their equipment maintains the ideal temperature range during transport to prevent stress on the chicks. Precise climate control creates a mobile hatchery environment, allowing the chicks to use their energy for growth rather than temperature regulation. Heering's reliable systems distribute air evenly throughout transport and are proven to perform under extreme weather conditions.
The document discusses the importance of transporting day old chicks from hatcheries to farms in optimal conditions. It describes how Heering has developed reliable transport systems that maintain the ideal temperature and environment for chicks during transit. The systems circulate air evenly throughout the chick boxes to keep the chicks' temperatures regulated and prevent stress that could impact their future growth and health. Heering offers different transport vehicle models with features tailored for efficiency, hygiene, and ensuring uniform chick quality upon delivery to farms.

This document provides an overview of the cool chain concept and industry in India. It discusses the evolution of cool chains from basic potato storage facilities to modern multi-purpose cold storage units. Key organizations that promote cool chain development include the National Centre for Cold Chain Development (NCCD), which addresses all segments of the industry. While cool chain infrastructure has expanded, challenges remain around real estate costs, uneven capacity distribution, and lack of continuous cold pathways. As consumer demand and government initiatives grow, companies are investing further in cool chain supply networks.
Chick quality is dependent on proper parent stock management, hatchery practices, and timely delivery of healthy, uniform chicks to the farm. Good chick quality means chicks that are clean, active, and have fully developed and healed navels. Providing chicks with the correct brooding environment and management is critical to achieving target live weights and low mortality rates.

⦿ This document discusses key considerations for establishing a successful tissue culture laboratory. It addresses the importance of strategic planning, proper location, and laboratory design to maintain aseptic conditions. A standard tissue culture lab should have areas for media preparation, sterilization, glassware washing, storage, aseptic transfer, and a primary growth room with environmental controls. Careful attention to traffic flow, lighting, temperature, humidity and other factors can optimize the lab's function. Networking, quality control, and market research are also important for a profitable tissue culture business.

2. We help hatcheries
to deliver their
day old chicks in
excellent condition
The transport of day old chicks from hatch-
ery to farm has a critical role to play in
subsequent performance. Hatcheries operate
in a fully controlled indoor environment, while
transport entails the risk of exposing the
chicks to uncontrolled, outdoor conditions.
If the chicks are not protected from unpredict-
able changes to their climate, varying road
conditions, traffic jams and other delays, their
performance is directly impaired.
The modern hatchery is a major investment
in state-of-the-art science, technology and
engineering. It therefore makes sense to
create a professional, modern chick transport
fleet, specifically designed to maintain an
optimised environment, to ensure that the
birds arrive at the farm in the same condition
in which they left the hatchery.
Heering has developed a reliable transport
environment, created to preserve the full
genetic potential of the birds all the way
to the farm.
3. Day old chicks are naturally well equipped for
transport. Born with a residual yolk, they are
comfortable without feed and water for up to
two days – providing that temperature inside
the chick boxes is kept within their thermoneu-
tral zone. Within this narrow temperature range
of 32 - 35 °C, the chick’s metabolism is just at
maintenance level with minimal heat produc-
tion and water loss.
If temperature inside the chick boxes rises
above this range, the chicks will start to use
energy from the yolk sac at a much faster rate,
to facilitate panting behaviour in an attempt to
maintain optimal body temperature of 39,5 –
40 °C. Proteins used for this purpose are then
no longer available for the development of the
immune and digestive systems. Panting
produces increased water loss, with the risk of
dehydration.
When the temperature at chick level is below
the thermoneutral zone, the day old chicks
are forced to use their own resources for
thermoregulation, rather than for growth and
health. In general terms, temperature stress
causes discomfort while also suppressing
productive efficiency.
Transport conditions are still too often
neglected, when in fact they have the potential
to significantly affect growth rate, feed
conversion, meat yield and the development of
the immune system. Optimizing these
conditions is highly beneficial for subsequent
performance on the farm.
Heering equipment is proven under extreme
climate and road conditions. Inside the
transport system, a specially designed airflow
system distributes air evenly over the rows of
chick boxes. Heat, water vapour and CO2
are
removed through air outlets and a recirculation
duct. The body temperature of the chick
remains between 39,5 – 40˚C.
For day old chicks not yet fully able to control
their own body temperature, the finite control
of air speed, air temperature and heat produc-
tion creates a mobile hatchery environment, for
healthy chicks on delivery.
As Heering is working closely with hatcheries
worldwide, we measure the impact of every
factor, from climate conditions to road condi-
tions and from the transport process to service
needs. Heering offers transport solutions that
will future-proof your hatchery transport for
many years to come.
