A group of students are developing Heart Buddy, a heart monitoring device that detects abnormal heart activity and automatically contacts emergency services. It consists of a strap with sensors that reads the wearer's ECG and sends it via Bluetooth to a smartphone app for analysis. If abnormal activity is detected, emergency services and loved ones will be notified of the situation and patient's location using GPS. The students are seeking £300,000 in investments to fund production and marketing of the HeartBuddy prototype to help the thousands of people who have heart attacks each year in the UK.
