By 2025, demand for care services will increase by 40% while labor capacity will decrease by 20%, resulting in a large "care gap". An aging population and rising costs will double the workload per employee and create a shortage of 450,000 workers. To address these challenges, solutions must be found through increased productivity with information and communication technologies, reducing demand through preventative health measures, and leveraging informal caregivers and new connections through technology. The Health-Lab partnership aims to create an ecosystem and living lab locations to develop and test user-oriented solutions to close the future care gap.
