Some of my Saturdays are utilisedin helping out at Children’s homes around the
Walmer and Motherwell townships. I’m actively involved in helping out in organising
donations which are donated to the organisations by the community. These
donations are used in taking care of the children. My duties also includes helping the
children with their homework and explaining what is required so they understand. I’m
also involved in teaching the children simple English and Maths.

- I was required to ensure that the students staying in the complex were
privileged and enjoy all recreational activities,
- They were monitored to behave in a responsible manner,
- planning and organizing some fun activities for the weekends,

- report to my supervisors on any financial matters.

Part of my work included teaching the toddlers and young children, English and
simple maths. I also supervised their playtime. This was all part of a compulsory
community service program hosted by my high school.

Skills and Abilities
Team work
Over the years of which I was part of the community outreach projects, of which
required me to work together with various racial and linguistic groups of people. In
doing so, I was open minded, cooperative and accommodating in achieving our
given tasks as a team. In regular meetings which I attended we discussed effective
ways to achieve our goals, direction and targets. I believe I can work in a team
environment comfortably after gaining this wide experience in the community.
Communication
While completing my work experience projects, I was required to communicate with
various customers in order to assist them with their needs. In doing so, I have
developed excellent communication skills which I use to converse with various
people. As part of my duties as the recreational manager of Annies Cove house
committee, I was required to report back to my superiors on any problems that may
have risen and in doing so, I have gained the dynamic ability of receiving as well as
conveying information to others in a manner which can be useful to others.
Organisation
As part of my required duties at Annies Cove Housing Committee, I was to organize
activities for the weekends and this enabled me to develop excellent organizational
skills.

Computer skills
Being part of the modern day society, I realise how important it is to have some
computer skills. I am a frequent user of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and
Access. I’ve attained brilliant researching skills and during my studies, have learnt to
use Pastel Partner for my accounting assignments and work.
Achievements and professional affiliations
March 2015-April 2015 Participant of the CIMA Global Business
Challenge
In 2015, my group and I were involved in the Global Business Challenge. This
was hosted by CIMA, in which we were required to perform a critical and in- depth
financial and managerial analysis of the given case study. We were also to give
our personal recommendations based on years of studies in the financial sector.
April 2013- June 2013: A member of one of the top 10 groups of
the Ernst and Young Project Alpha 2013
As part of our ethics and corporate governance module, we had to participate in
the Project Alpha held by Ernst and Young in 2013. We were required to prepare
a powerpoint and a full report on an ethical issue that businesses are currently
facing in today’s environment. My group was shortlisted as one of the top 10
groups in this competition for our university.
June 2010- July 2010: Participant of the Pasch Project
In grade 11, I was shortlisted as one of the top achievers in my class for German
as a 2nd additional language. I was rewarded with a trip to Pretoria to participate in
the Pasch Project hosted by a German company.

January 2009- June 2009: German Exchange Program
During the first 6 months of 2009, I was involved in an exchange program with a
German school. This required me to host two German students from a school in
Germany while teaching them South African customs and traditions. As part of
this program, I had travelled to Germany in June 2009, where I had learnt lot
about German culture, customs and traditions.
Interests and hobbies
In my spare time, I enjoy reading and keeping up with current affairs. I read the
newspapers or watch the news.
