Myanmar is proposed to become the hub of a South East Asia Power Beltway due to its strategic location. The document discusses Myanmar's potential to facilitate cross-border power trade between South and Southeast Asian countries by connecting their power grids. This could optimize resource sharing, reduce costs, and increase energy security through diversified energy resources and complementary demand patterns across countries. For Myanmar to realize this vision, regulatory frameworks and policies need to be established to coordinate planning, financing, operations, and dispute resolution across national borders.

Whether you are developing a greenfield data project or migrating a legacy system,
there are many critical design decisions to be made. Often, it is advantageous to not only
consider immediate requirements, but also the future requirements and technologies you may
want to support. Your project may start out supporting batch analytics with the vision of adding
realtime support. Or your data pipeline may feed data to one technology today, but tomorrow
an entirely new system needs to be integrated. Apache Kafka can help decouple these
decisions and provide a flexible core to your data architecture. This talk will show how building
Kafka into your pipeline can provide the flexibility to experiment, evolve and grow. It will also
cover a brief overview of Kafka, its architecture, and terminology.

Automate Your Kafka Cluster with Kubernetes Custom Resources confluent
(Sam Obeid, Shopify) Kafka Summit SF 2018
At Shopify we manage multiple Apache Kafka clusters in multiple locations in Google’s cloud platform. We deploy our Kafka clusters as Kubernetes StatefulSets, and we use other K8s workloads to implement different tasks. Automating critical and repetitive operational tasks is one of our top priorities.
In this talk we’ll discuss how we leveraged Kubernetes Custom Resources and Controllers to automate some of the key cluster operational tasks, to detect clusters configuration changes and react to these changes with required actions. We will go through actual examples we implemented at Shopify, how we solved the problem of cluster discovery and how we automated topics creation across different clusters with zero human intervention and safety controls.

With a production of 1,006 Terawatt Hours (TWh), India is the fifth largest producer and consumer of electricity in the world. Over FY07-13, the production has expanded at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.5 per cent.
Multiple drivers (industrial expansion, growing per-capita incomes) are leading to growth in power demand; this is set to continue in the coming years. Power consumption is estimated to increase from 821.2 TWh in 2013 to 1,433.2 TWh by 2022.
Power is one of the key sectors attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows into India. Total FDI inflows in the sector has touched US$ 7.8 billion during April 2000-March 2013, accounting for 4 per cent of total FDI inflow in India. Major investments earmarked by public as well as private sector companies across the value chain.
The National Tariff Policy (2006) has ensured adequate return on investment to companies engaged in power generation, transmission and distribution and assured electricity to end-users at affordable and competitive rates. The government has also launched of Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) scheme through tariff-based competitive bidding. The Government of India targets capacity addition of 89 GW under the 12th Five-Year Plan (2012–17) and around 100 GW under the 13th Five-Year Plan (2017–22). Investments of around US$ 223.9 billion are planned for the power sector during the 12th Plan Five-Year Plan (2012-17).

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
