This document provides an overview of computer hardware repairs and maintenance. It discusses the basic components of a computer including the central processing unit, motherboard, memory, storage devices, ports, and peripherals. It also covers identifying common hardware and software issues, distinguishing between the two, and performing regular maintenance to improve computer performance. Key tips include dusting components regularly, defragmenting disks, scanning for errors, deleting unnecessary files, and clearing browser histories.
The document discusses the key internal and external components of a personal computer (PC). It identifies external components like the case, monitor, keyboard, and mouse. It then describes important internal components such as the motherboard, central processing unit (CPU), drives, expansion cards, memory, and power supply. The document provides details on how these components work and their functions within the PC.
The document defines and describes the major internal and external components of a basic computer system. It explains that the system unit, also known as the base unit, contains the motherboard, power supply, storage drives, memory and expansion cards. Key internal components are then defined, including the microprocessor, hard disk drive, video and sound cards, and memory. External ports and communication devices like modems, network cards and routers are also outlined.
The document discusses the components of a computer hardware system. It is divided into three main sections: processing, storage, and input/output. The processing section focuses on the central processing unit (CPU) and its components. The CPU contains an arithmetic logic unit, control unit, registers, cache memory, and other parts. It executes instructions by performing calculations with data from memory and storage. The motherboard is also described as the main circuit board that connects and allows communication between all the internal computer components.
A motherboard is the main circuit board that holds and connects all the components of a computer system. It contains the CPU socket, memory slots, expansion slots, connectors for peripherals and power supply. Key components include the northbridge and southbridge chips, BIOS chip, and connectors for devices like graphics cards, hard drives, and expansion cards.

The Indian government has been working over the past few years to include elements of ITS in the transport sector. This standard ensures the optimal operation of the current transport infrastructure. It also increases the efficiency, safety, comfort, and quality of the system. That is why the government created the AIS-140 standard. Compliance with this standard means all vehicles used for public transit must have panic buttons and vehicle tracking modules installed. Nevertheless, in future in the standard protocol of AIS-140 you can expect fare collection and CCTV capabilities.

Building a Raspberry Pi Robot with Dot NET 8, Blazor and SignalRPeter Gallagher
In this session delivered at NDC Oslo 2024, I talk about how you can control a 3D printed Robot Arm with a Raspberry Pi, .NET 8, Blazor and SignalR.
I also show how you can use a Unity app on an Meta Quest 3 to control the arm VR too.

Google Calendar is a versatile tool that allows users to manage their schedules and events effectively. With Google Calendar, you can create and organize calendars, set reminders for important events, and share your calendars with others. It also provides features like creating events, inviting attendees, and accessing your calendar from mobile devices. Additionally, Google Calendar allows you to embed calendars in websites or platforms like SlideShare, making it easier for others to view and interact with your schedules.
2. Hardware is the collection of physical parts
of a Computer system that has shape and
size and can be feel.
Computer hardware includes the physical
parts of a computer.
3. Basically the hardware components in a
Computer system are connected through
wires in order to function properly. From
power supply to network connection all are
connected through wires.
The most essential hardware components
are Motherboard, CPU, RAM memory, IO
system, power supply, video display
controller, and hard disk drive
4. 1- Computer case:
The enclosure that contains
most of the components of a
personal computer (usually
excluding the display,
keyboard, and mouse).
Cases are usually constructed
from steel ,aluminium and
plastic.
The size and shape of a
computer case are usually
determined by the form factor
of the motherboard.
5. 2 . Central processing
unit (CPU)
The CPU controls the
computer processes
and communicates
with the other
components of a
personal computer.
6. 3.Motherboard
• The motherboard provides the
structure for all other components
and connects them, while also
providing a way to distribute
power, deliver information and
connect to devices such as a
printer or mouse.
• The motherboard is where all the
wires are plugged in and it's also
where you place your RAM.
7. 4. RAM
RAM is where data lives
temporarily while it's being
actively used by programs, such
as when a user launches a
computer application.
5. Hard drive
Hard drives are data storage
devices used to store files,
programs or other information on
a computer system. They use
magnetically coated discs called
hard disks that store digital
representations of information.
8. 6. Hard Disk Drive
A hard disk drive is a
piece of hardware inside
a computer that stores
information.
It's used to store software
and data in a safe place,
which can be accessed when
needed
9. 7. Optical Drive
Optical Drives are used in PCs to read
and write CDs and DVDs.
The optical drive reads the data from the
disc, which can then be transformed into
a digital file that is readable by the
computer.
8. IO System
The IO system is the set of devices
that are used to access data.
There are three major parts of the IO
system: input, output, and storage.
10. 9. Video Display Controller
Video display controllers (sometimes
shortened to VDC) are circuits found in
video cards, which control the video output
of the computer.
The controller is responsible for formatting
the data that is sent to the monitor or TV.
10. visual display unit
VDU or monitor is a piece of electronic
equipment that displys viewable images
generated by a computer without producing
a permanent record.
11. 11. Sound Card
A sound card is a computer chip that
processes and amplifies sounds.
It produces a signal to the speakers,
headphones, or other output devices.
The sound card can also be called a "sound
card" or "audio card."
12. External Ports
External ports are used to connect
your computer to other devices like
printers and speakers, among many
others.
12. Computer ports are interfaces between peripheral
devices and the computer. They are mainly found at
the back of the computer but are often also built into
the front of the computer chassis for easy access.
Ports at the rear of the computer
Ports at the front of the computer
13. Serial port - a 9-pin port. Often called Com ports -
Com1, Com2 etc. Mice and external modems were
connected to these ports. They are turquoise in colour.
14. Parallel port - a 25-pin port used to connect printers,
scanners, external hard disks, zip drives etc. to the
computer. Burgundy in colour, they are often called
LPT ports - LPT1, LPT2 etc.
15. Video port - used to connect a monitor to the computer
system. There are two types:
• VGA port - This is a 15-pin port and is blue in colour. It is an
analogue port and is being replaced by the DVI port.
• DVI port - white in colour, it is a digital port. This means that
no conversion is necessary between the computer and the
monitor and that means that images can be produced more
quickly on the monitor
16. • PS/2 port - used to connect keyboards and mice to
the computer. The keyboard port is purple and the
mouse port is green
• Modem port - used to connect a modem to a
telephone line. RJ11 is the technical term for the
port.
17. • FireWire port - (IEEE 1394) is an Apple technology
There are two versions available and a third is planned:
• FW 400 - transfer rate of 50MBps.
• FW 800 - transfer rate of 100MBps.
• FW S3200 - transfer rate of 400MBps.
• USB devices must be connected to a host computer while
FireWire devices can be connected to each other without
using a computer.
Editor's Notes
RAM is where data lives temporarily while it's being actively used by programs, such as when a user launches a computer application
