Earle Dickson s Inventions
In 1920, Earle Dickson made an invention that would change every parent s, child s and chef s
life; the band aid. Earle s wife was a bit of a klutz and she frequently burned or cut herself while
cooking. One day after an especially bad cut, a lightbulb went off in his head. He had a brilliant
idea. He cut patches of gauze and applied them to strips of adhesive tape, which he then covered
with the fabric crinoline. Dickson worked at Johnson Johnson, and he thought that everyone there
would be impressed with his new invention. Sure enough, when he pitched the idea, his boss loved
it. For almost 100 years his invention has helped millions of people, and most importantly me.
Like Mrs. Dickson, I have been clumsy for nearly all of my life. When I was a child, I fell down
and started bleeding somewhere on my body seemingly every day. For me, living without the
band aid would have been terrible. When I was about four years old, I frequently went to a
playground in Voorhees that was constructed entirely out of wood. At every turn, it seemed like
there were little shards of wood just waiting for the chance to prick ... Show more content on

I use a curling or a straightening iron almost everyday, and from time to time, I have burned
myself. Recently, I was in the middle of straightening my hair, when the lights suddenly
flickered off. I was so shocked that I dropped the tool and it landed on my hand. I looked down
and part of my hand was tomato red and it hurt badly. I did not know what to do. My first instinct
was to wash my hand with cold water, apply Neosporin, and cover it with a big band aid. A few
days passed and the pain lessened. I knew it was time to remove the band aid but I was scared to
see what was underneath. In a moment of bravery I yanked it off and to my amazement the band
aid came through and my hand was healed. Thanks to the band aid I was able to continue

Essay On Thomas Jefferson A Hypocrite
Is Thomas Jefferson a Hypocrite or Not? After writing the Declaration of Independence, and
saying All men are created equal, Jefferson continued to own slaves of his own. Before, and after
writing the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson said many cruel and offensive things
to describe a runaway slave. He is greatly addicted to drink, and when drunk is insolent and
disorderly. (Slavery, 1) Following his rude and offensive descriptions, he offered a reward for the
one to find the missing slave. Jefferson is seen to be a big hypocrite to many and in many ways,
by the choices he did not take when he should have. When Jefferson was making the poster that
was offering a reward for the runaway slave, he should have thought it through, and put himself
in the slaves spot, before trying to say malicious and irrelevant things about them. Would
Jefferson have wanted to be treated like those slaves were? Would Jefferson have ran away, if he
was that slave? Many thought that Jefferson did not try to stop slavery, because he might have
had sexual intercourse with some of his slaves. Would that stop you from stopping slavery? But
that is not the most valid reason Thomas Jefferson is seen to be a hypocrite. The most valid reason
Jefferson was known as a big hypocrite, is because he wrote the Declaration of... Show more content

Some people think that Jefferson buying the Louisiana territory was a good thing, and a big help to
the nation, even though it was unconstitutional. A lot of people had the thought that Jefferson kept
his mouth shut about slavery because he did not want a bunch of chaos happening at the wrong
time and the wrong place. Jefferson clearly explains why he kept his mouth shut about slavery, and
his fear of certain things. I fear the terms in which I speak of slavery and of our constitution may
produce an irritation which will revolt the minds of our countrymen... and thus do more harm than
good. (Slavery,

The Four Stages In Ovid s Metamorphoses
Pythagoras was a Greek philosopher born in 570 B.C.E. In Ovid s the Metamorphoses, Pythagoras
discusses a variety of beliefs including the four ages of man, autogenesis, and vegetarianism.
The four stages of man as described by Pythagoras states, that the year displays four aspects,
passing through them, in a semblance of our life. Each season represents a different aspect of man.
Spring is a delicate time of year full of new beginnings and hope. Summer is described as
powerful, rich, and expansive. Fall is the time between youth and age. Pythagoras describes winter
as hair turning white. Each and every day we change as people. We are youthful and then after the
middle years we decline as life moves on. In the Ovid, Milon an athlete who ... Show more content

Pythagoras had fled Samos because the leaders were tyrants. By ws exiled, but he continued to
visit the gods in thought. He would preach his views to the people. Pythagoras believed that it was
a disgrace to eat meat. His excuse for not eating meat was that the earth provides crops and we
should use these to our advantage and not shed the blood of animals. Pythagoras
believes(VOTH) that flesh is the diet of a beast and that only a beast is not full until it eats the
flesh of another. He says that creatures that want to kill us should be killed, but not eaten.
Pythagoras calls eating animals for food wicked and says those who eat meat not worthy of
crops. While although I do feel pity for animals and cruelty done to them by humans, I am not a
vegetarian. It is necessary to eat meat to consume certain proteins needed by our bodies. The
circle of life allows for the predators to eat their prey. Humans do defy this stereotype due to
technology, since there is no animal predator to us. However I do believe that animals can t be
hunted to extinction. There should be boundaries when we use animals as our food source. As for
the agriculture, we do eat crops and meat. This maintains an equilibrium of our

Band Is More Than Just Playing an Instrument
I have been asked many times by my friends that aren t in band why are you in band? Get out of
band so we can be in the stands together during the game. band is lame, They do not understand
what band is really about. Band is not just about playing an instrument and marching. I started
band in the 6th grade, I honestly thought that I wasn t going to make it to my senior year, but
here I am a senior in band. I am not forced to be in band I can get out at anytime anyday, but I
choose not to. It is hard when you are marching and it feels like 100+ degrees. You feel like you
want to pass out, but you just have to suck it up and be tough. Throughout the years I have been
in band I have created friendships. I have my closest friends in band. I have created many
memories in band that will last a lifetime, that I will share one day with my kids. I do not know
what I would do without band. Getting in band has been the best decision I have ever made. Band
has been the highlight of my high school years. One of the scariest moments I have experienced in
band was when we messed up at U.I.L. contest, I was terrified I did not want us to make a 2, it all
happened so fast. It was time to get our results, we made a 1, I was so happy. The judges said that
if you were to close your eyes and listening to us, you would not know we messed up. We never
stopped playing and we recovered so fast, we were so matured when this happened. Band takes up

Maria Ordered Supplies From Ftc Enterprises
11. Maria ordered supplies from FTC enterprises. Bob, the owner of FTC enterprises, sent a
credit application form to Maria. A couple of days later, Maria sent back the credit application
with a signature that appeared to be under her name. Bob shipped the supplies thereafter awaiting
Maria s payments which never came. Bob later sued Maria for payment collection, but Maria
denied ever signing the paperwork and claimed that all credit documents were referred to her
receptionist. Is Maria liable?
In this case Maria is considered as a disclosed principal and Maria s receptionist is her agent. A
disclosed principal is defined as a principal whose identity is known by a third party (Clarkson,
2015, p 644). FTC being the third party in this situation, recognizes Maria as a principal and
recognized her receptionist as an extension of Maria s authority. By referring credit documents
and inquiries to her receptionist, Maria is granting her receptionist implied authority to process
credit documents on her behalf (Clarkson, 2015, p. 643). Therefore, Maria will be held liable
regardless of whether or not she was aware of her receptionist s actions.

How Did Monarchs Influence The Tudor Period
From nine days to forty five years, the reigns of the monarchs during the Tudor period were
different and impactful. This period in England between 1485 and 1603 was home to many of
the great monarchs, nobles, and civilians of the world. The monarchs in Tudor England shaped
the period that is known so well today for its culture and power. They controlled the religion,
military, and culture in a way that was unrivaled by anyone in their time. The monarchs shaped the
Tudor period into a time remembered for culture, war, and religion in a way that nobles and
civilians could not match. The Tudor period of England was home to many monarchs that each

Ethical Discrimination On Tattoos
Tattoos have been dated back to 5000 BCE. Tattoos have played the role of being badges of
honor, ceremonial markings, signs off social rank, forms of punishment, and of course ways for
people to beautify themselves (The Cultural History of Tattoos). Over the past years, tattoos has
increased and continues to increase significantly in popularity. According to statistics, 36% of
American adults in the U.S. between the ages of 18 25 and 40% of American adults in the U.S.
between the ages of 26 40 have at least one tattoo(Seth). While the trend of getting tattoos are

Although Elzweig s research may seem trivial, it is in fact crucial in terms of today s concerns
about the discrimination of tattoos in the workplace. While it is true that there are laws that protect
others from discrimination against gender, race, sexuality, etc., it does not necessarily follow that
one has protection from the discrimination against tattoos. Society has come to a realization that a
difference in someone s skin should not change how others view or treat them, so why do people
treat those who have tattoos differently than those who do not? Although it is granted that if one is
being treated differently at his or her job it is considered employment litigation, one can take action
and bring the situation to court. Nevertheless, when it comes down to dress code, the employer has
every right to release those who don t respect the rules. As stated in Elzweig s quote, if a person
who has a religion that requires them to have body modifications, they are protected by the law and
they have the right to take the employer to court for employment discrimination if employee states
otherwise. In addition, Elzweig suggests that the employment practice violated a constitutional
right. Title VU made it unlawful employment practice for an employer... to discriminate against any
individual... because of such individual s race,

The Case Of Barnard V National Dock Labour Board
Analysis on unlawful delegation: Unlawful delegation places a restriction on the decision maker
to delegate their power to make significant decisions to third party entities or other individuals. It
is unlawful to act under dictation of a public body that have been given the power to make
certain types of decisions if that body have not been given the statutory power to delegate. This
was clearly demonstrated in the case of Ellis v Dubowski where the High Court stated that
putting the matter into the hands of a third person or body not possessed of statutory or
constitutional authority is ultra vires. The scope of the power to delegate must be considered
carefully and the courts will regulate the fairness of the decision and not interfere unreasonably
with the decision making process. Another example of unlawful delegation can be seen in the
case of Barnard v National Dock Labour Board. This case involved various rules that applied to
dockworkers and the appropriate way to dismiss them. Dockworkers felt that the dismissal process
was unfair and unlawfully delegated to the wrong decision maker. The dismissal should have been
considered by a committee of people and not the port manager. The court held that this was
unlawful delegation and the port manager had no statutory power to dismiss these workers. The
Carltona Principle: Even though the law relating to ministerial responsibility (being personally
liable for everything done in their department) has changed

30 Caliber Research Paper
.30 Caliber Explained, By Eric and Ray with Moss Pawn and Gun. Posted by SDI for class

projectile, what considers the projectile to be a .30 caliber projectile, the vast number of .30
caliber specific ammunition available today and why it is the most common and popular caliber to
date. A .30 caliber is considered so due to the size of the projectileitself not by the cartridge. That is
where most people get confused. If you look back our old U.S. Model M1 Carbine was a .30
caliber rifle. When talking about a .30 caliber projectile you are generally talking about a .308 to
.311 diameter bore. A .32 caliber ACP is technically a true .30 caliber projectile due to the actual
size varying from .308 to .314 during production.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The different types of .30 caliber ammunition differ not by the projectile which will all be

different .30 caliber rounds. You have the .308 Winchester, (7.62x51mm Nato) 7.5x55mm
Swiss, (.308 diameter) 7.5x54 French, (.308 diameter) and the famous 30 06. All these have the

Improving your information skills helps you in your career ambitions because if you understand

CASE STUDY THORNTONS PLC Introduction In September 2003 Thorntons, the Uk s largest

achieving a turnaround in the company s performance. While company turnover had been increased
to £167m (= €250m) providing Thorntons with an 8 percent share of its core market, boxed
chocolates, profit after tax had declined to the lowest level for seven years (Exhibit 1). During that

The demand for Thorntons boxed chocolates follows a strongly seasonal pattern: 35 percent of
sales are in the seven week period before Christmas, a further 10 percent are for Easter, including
three million Easter eggs. The combination of providing a fresh product together with the need to
meet a seasonal pattern of demand places particular pressures upon the company s manufacturing
facilities. A proportion of the Christmas product is produced several months in advance,
maintaining freshness through chilled storage. However, Thorntons chocolates are enrobed in
chocolate, rather than moulded. Their hand made appearance makes the process of packing
boxed chocolates less open to automation than is the case for moulded chocolates (with their
more uniform shape an size) produced by companies such as Cadburys. The seasonal demand for
packing staff requires the increased use of casual workers, with consequent falls in efficiency.
Seasonal demand also requires the use of temporary staff in the retail outlets to meet a sales pattern
that can within a few days increase tenfold; typically the company sells ВЈ10m of chocolate in the
last 72 hours of Christmas trading. At times the company has sold icecream (self manufactured or
bought in) as an attempt to offset the effect of low, off season, chocolate sales. In certain respects

Nuclear Weapons Technology And Its Impact On The...
This project will discuss nuclear weapons technology and its impact on the Treaty on the
Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons, also known as the NPT (Nonproliferation Treaty). The
Treaty covers three main pillars: disarmament, nonproliferation, and peaceful uses of nuclear
energy. It was signed in 1968 due to concern that the safety of the planet was at risk by having a
high number of nuclear weaponstates. After the United States bombed the cities of Hiroshima and
Nagasaki using vastly destructive nuclear fission bombs, it became apparent that the States and
possibly other countries could divert resources towards weapons rather than peaceful uses of
nuclear energy. Thus, nuclear weaponry prompted the creation of the Treaty.
Since the development of the first nuclear weapons technology by the Manhattan Project of the
United States in 1945, nuclear proliferation has been a major global concern. The Manhattan
Project was an undertaking involving the development of nuclear fission bombs, also known as
atom bombs. Atom bombs use a hollow bullet of enriched uranium shot into a target made of the
same element, initiating a nuclear chain reaction that releases vast amounts of energy. The bombs
created by the Manhattan Project were called Little Boy and Fat Man, and were used on the
Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, respectively. This effectively ended World War II in
1945 after Japan was forced to surrender, but it also caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of

The Point Of Oil Production Essay
I would like to discuss with you the breakeven point of oil production. Currently Saudi Arabia is
one of the leading producers of oil in the world. However, it is losing its foothold on the market.
Many countries, like North America, are increasing their oil production and are looking for
ways to become less dependent on foreign oil. The increased competition has caused oil prices
to decrease. By producing their own oil, countries not only will increase their revenues, but will
also reduce their need to rely on foreign oil. By reducing their need foreign an oil a country does
not have to worry that their oil supply will be cut off if they go to war. Another cause for the
decline in oil prices is caused by an increase in consumers purchasing more fuel efficient
vehicles, such as hybrid or electric vehicles. In many countries today, especially in North
America, there has been an increased demand for fuel efficient vehicles. This is evident in TV
commercials which are advertising more and more vehicles that get 40 to 50 miles per gallon,
and by the ever increasing commercials for electric vehicles. Consumers are tired of paying
outrageous prices for oil and are demanding more for their money. As this demand continues to
grow, the demand for oil will decrease. Over the past few years oil prices have been dropping.
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (eig.gov), a barrel of oil cost $86.07 on
October 20, 2013. As of October 20, 2015 a barrel of oil

Essay on History and Philosophy of Science
History and Philosophy of Science
The world of science, as we know it today, is a difficult subject to grasp. So many new ideas are
present and these new ideas are not interchangeable. Some parts do work together although as a
whole they don t fully coincide with each other. The three basic ideas that science is now based
upon come from Newton, Einstein, and Hawking. I call these ideas/theories new based on what I
classify the state of the scientific community of today. After looking at what is going on in science,
it is clear to me that the scientific world is in a crisis state. According to Kuhn, a crisis state is when
science is in the middle of choosing a particular paradigm to work under. For scientists, there is a
general theme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Newton had given the world what we now know as physics. For the past three hundred years
Newtonian Mechanics have been taught to every student aspiring to elevate their minds.
Newtonian Mechanics were the end all to the questions that had plagued thinkers since the
beginning of time. The key difference is that Newton was never exposed to the world of science
that technology had made prevalent to the likes of an Einstein or Hawking, or even my
colleague studying neuro surgery at John s Hopkins University. When Newton was sitting
under his apple tree conjuring up ideas for how and why he did not fly off into space or why the
harder you hit something the farther it goes, technology was moving along at the rate of most
people s grandmothers in their walkers. The scientists that had surrounded Newton knew only
of what they could see. Their were no people looking to the far ends of the galaxies and their
were no people looking in to the unseen cells that make up everything that we can see. Basically,
Newton did not have a reason to explain what he was not aware of. He did have quite good
reason, however, to explain why he got a bump on his head from that ripe apple that no longer
needed the shelter of the tree. According to Shlain, Newton set the world he knew to mechanics
and set the parameters for the new and final, well what was thought to be the final paradigm of the
world. Then in 1905,

Chipping Away at Intel Case Study
Chipping Away at Intel Case Study
In today s economy, corporations are consistently experiencing pressures to change. With pressures
both internally and externally, leaders must constantly reassess who, what, when, where, why and
how they do business. In light of these obstacles, they strive for the highest possibility of success
by taking risks and pushing limits that others may question as extreme. We are going to review the
Chipping Away at Intel Case Study to examine the different changes CEO, Craig R. Barret
implemented, which pressures Intel experienced and how he responded to these pressures.

Maintaining and enhancing corporate reputation is therefore an important part of managing firm
survival... (Palmer, Dunford, Akin, 2009, p. 59). They needed to enhance their strategy in order to
continue to stay as a leading innovator.
Barret responded to these pressures by introducing more reorganization of the company and also a
change in strategy by cancelling the 4 GHz Pentium 4. This restructure of business units would
ensure that work was systematized throughout the organization. Huang, Chen and Han (2011)
suggest that even a reorganization based on top of the line principles will not be successful if it is
not directed by a strong, perfectly timed business idea. Intel s new CEO to take control after Barret
was Paul Otellini, and he was in for a big challenge to keep these changes moving in a positive
direction.
If I was Paul Otellini, I would definitely step back, review all the changes and strategies which were
put in place and assess which worked and which did not. Also, communicate internally with
management and the employees to hear their concerns, ideas and thoughts. After reassessing
everything, I would then decide what, if more, changes are needed, both large and small.

In conclusion, the pressures Intel faced during Barret s tenure caused a significant amount of

Strong informal institutions
The definition of informal institution according to Douglass North is that informal institutions are
specific organizations or rules that constrain and influence human behavior. It is the structure of
human actions by providing incentives that shape economic and political behavior. Informal
institutions are not written in rules or laws, but still constrain the behavior of people. Antonio
Gramsci, Italian neo Marxist theorist talked about the hegemonic stability, which is the dominant
class constructed norms in society, with the coercion consent. Constructed norms embedded in
political cultural value and accepted by lower class in society. For example the case of Thais have

/the_theory_of_e.html] Competitive advantages give a company an edge over its rivals and an
ability to generate greater value for the firm and its shareholders. The more sustainable the
competitive advantage, the more difficult it is for competitors to neutralize the advantage. There
are two main types of competitive advantages: comparative advantage and differential advantage.
Comparative advantage, or cost advantage, is a firm s ability to produce a good or service at a
lower cost than its competitors, which gives the firm the ability sell its goods or services at a lower
price than its competition or to generate a larger margin on sales. A differential advantage is created
when a firm s products or services differ from its competitors and are seen as better than a
competitor s products by customers. [http://www.emeraldinsight.com

Sexism In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar And Mirror
In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar and Mirror, the protagonists, Esther Greenwood and Mirror s
unnamed narrator, search for an escape from reality due to their current unfulfilled lives. Esther
becomes alienated by American society in the materialistic 1950s, whilst the woman in Mirror
reveals her fear of old age, which haunts her every time she looks within the mirror. Sylvia Plath
lived in an era where the image of women [that] perpetuated throughout the 1950s was one of
inequality (Young, 10). Exaggerated sexism permeated as a result of the masculine fear of lack
of authority; this fear was planted in World War II. World War II was a catalyst for women
progression: women had involved themselves in the workforce as a result of the male drafting....

The bell jar mirrors Esther s entrapment and isolation, enabling Plath to communicate her
rejection of the materialistic 1950s, which is only a component of the amalgamation of feelings
she is experiencing. These emotions are reflected by the bell jar with its connotations of
suffocation: If Mrs. Guinea had given me a ticket to Europe, or a round world cruise, it wouldn t
have made one scrap of a difference to me...I would be sitting under the same glass bell jar,
stewing in my own sour air (Plath, 185). Plath s constant reference to the stifling and sour air of
the bell jar reinforces the impenetrable vacuum Esther is being sucked into, where isolation and
worthlessness contaminate the air. The images that plague Esther during her descent into
depression are designed by Plath so that they are understood to be poisoning her liberation,
furthering the haze of the bell jar. One such image is when Esther As Esther experiences the
awkwardness of Lenny s and Doreen s encounter, she felt [her]self shrinking to a small black dot
against all those red and white rugs and that pine paneling. [She] felt like a hole in the ground
(Plath, 16). Plath juxtaposes Esther from Lenny and Doreen by having her compare herself through
a metaphor. The small black dot represents how insignificant Esther is compared to the two
centered situation that she is in.

Persuasive Essay On Bullying
When Will it Stop?
What if you were terrified to go to your school every day? 160,000 students miss school each day
because they get bullied and are scared of what will happen ( Bullying Statistics ). Bullying has
been a major problem in schools for far too long. Students should not be scared to go to a place
that is supposed to be safe and where they can express themselves. Students that bully never get the
punishment they deserve, which causes them to continue to act. When you go to school, you
should know that if you are getting treated in a horrific way, the people who were treating you that
way will get punished. Students who bully should be suspended from school.
The bullies in schools never think they will get severely punished, so they don t stop. They think
that they won t be caught and that bullying isn t a huge deal, but it is. Bullying causes students to
not go to school, to feel alone, and to leave their school feeling worthless. If the bully were to be
suspended, he/she would learn quickly that what they are doing is wrong in so many ways. They
will realize that bullying can be the reason they don t get into their dream school or do something
they love. On the other hand, victims of bullying don t come forward and voice that the have been
taunted, teased, and tormented because they don t think the school will help them. 67 percent of
students feel that their school doesn t hear about their bullying and doesn t do anything that will
prevent it (Soard). A great number of bullies in schools go unnoticed because of this which will in
turn, make them continue to do these hurtful things. Punishments that bullies receive are not harsh
enough and need to be reconsidered if we want a change in our lives.
Bullies not getting punished leads more students to get involved in these horrible acts due to peer
pressure. Students feel like they need to bully to be popular or because everyone else does it.
They don t realize that bullying other kids makes you look worse and can drive that student to
never come back to school or do something even worse. If the students who started the bullying
were caught and suspended, less students would continue the bullying. They would see the
consequences that a bully got and

Thoth s Role In Egyptian Mythology
I ve always been fascinated by Egyptian mythology and all of the hundreds of thousands gods that
the Egyptians somehow managed to name and worship. The one that I always seem to recollect
with the most is the god Thoth. Like most gods, he has several facets that he is worshipped for,
such as being the godof the moon, the patron of writing, and being the patron of magicians.
According to some sources, he was even a creator god. Whatever godly aspect he had authority
over originally were added onto, as is true for most gods and goddesses of ancient times. Thoth is

Thoth was worshipped with the Hermopolis Ogdoad, or the eight gods and goddesses
worshipped at Hermopolis. There, Thoth is considered to be the creator of the other gods, and
therefore the world. It is said that Thoth, as an ibis, laid a cosmic egg by which the Ogdoad were
born. His temple in Hermopolis is much like any other temple in Ancient Egypt: a walkway with
sphinxes watching your every move, a pylon gateway that was guarded by obelisks and the
statue of the pharaoh who founded the temple. Within the temple, one would find the open air
court with columns all around, some reaching up to eight stories high; the inner sanctuary held
the statue of the particular god worshipped at the site, which could only be accessed by the
priests or the pharaoh. At the back of the temple, one might find the Chapel of the Hearing Ear ,
which was used by the regular people of the day. The only difference between the temples of
Thoth and many of the other temples was that at his temples, there was often an ibis cult, where
ibis birds were mummified after they died in order to appease the ibis headed Thoth. Ibis s were
important to the god Thoth because he had the head of an ibis, and the hieroglyph for Thoth was
in fact an ibis. Whenever Thoth was depicted as a baboon, as rare as it was to see him like that, he

Difference Between Cisc And Cisc
The never ending comparative study between CISC and RISC

Polytechnic University of Bucharest emilia_ioana.popa@stud.acs.upb.ro Abstract. The comparative
study between CISC (Complex Instruction Set Com puter) and RISC (Reduced Instruction Set
Computers) has been a well known debate subject for many years. In the past, one significant
development in com puter processor technology was the RISC microprocessor. Many argued that
RISC devices have offered significant advantages over their conventional CISC counterparts. A
brief comparison of the main features of both RISC and CISC processors, as well as a more recent
architecture trend, EPIC, are presented.

These architectures have limited instruction sets built into the processor. As a result, fewer
transistors have to be used in processor construction. Due to this evolution, more space is saved
on the microprocessor. This results in a lower overall cost for the unit. To do the same work as the
CISC processor can do, a lot more RAM or memory is required. However, RISC processors were
initially favored for scientific purposes because these applications required a less large instruction
set than general purpose computers. As time passed, there have been produced an increasing
number of gen eral purpose computers using RISC microprocessors. These processors only use sim
ple instructions that can be executed within one clock cycle.
Going back to our example above, the MULT command could be divided into three separate
commands: LOAD (data is moved to a register from the memory bank), PROD (the product of
two operands located within the registers is found), and STORE (data is moved from a register to
the memory banks). Four lines of assembly would be needed in order to perform the same steps

Extracurricular Activities And Academic Success
Surveys show that around eighty percent of students participate in extracurricular activities.
Participating in an extracurricular activity involves balance between the activity and academics
while gaining positive impacts. Many people do not see or understand the importance of
extracurricular activities. Critics might argue that extracurricular activities may harm student
academic success, but what they do not realize is the benefits from extracurricular activities. The
following argument started when the question was raised of how students were spending their
leisure time and what they gained from their involvement. After school hours are the peak time for
bad behaviors and crime for students. However, extracurricular activities provide a shelter for
students for fun activities. Extracurricular activities contribute positively to student academic
success by teaching responsibility, time management, and team building skills. Responsibility is a
substantial skill developed from extracurricular activities that impact academic success.
Responsibility promotes students to be held accountable for their actions.
For example, students learn that they cannot always count on their parents. Students learn there
will be times when they have to do things on their own and figure out life by themselves. Parents
are not always going to be there by your side. Thankfully, extracurricular activities allow students to
use responsible skills in and outside of school. Responsibility gives

The Important Aspects Of Persuading A Foreign Company

Netherlands ( Dutch ) is the main constuient country of Kingdom of Netherlands . It is small but
densely populated country in Western Europe. Dutch is the official language in Netherlands but

secular countries in Western Europe . It has a developed economy and plays a very important role
in the European economy.
The common factors that influence the business are economic, social, legal and political
Environments but often culture is ignored during acquisitions and mergers .The truth is that
culture is perverse and everyday business is affected by culture (Weber and Camerer, 2003).
History tells us culture can make or break a business depending on the way it is handled. To
persuade a foreign company one should adopt to their culture and keep aside their own cultural
preferences. One of the most important aspects of persuading a foreign company is try to respect
and accept the other culture business etiquette s and practices. In this report we will focus on some
of the techniques to persuade Dutch.
According to Hofstede s research on different cultural dimensions , Netherlands score low (38) on

Eulogy Of Man By Ellen Goodman
In modern day society, people fill up their busy lives, trying to balance work, family, and social
life, trying to achieve their idea of a perfect life . However, some cannot manage to do
everything and focus all of their life under one aspect leaving their lives seemingly empty and
unaccomplished when they die. Ellen Goodman writes a eulogy to a man, Phil, to satirize the
workaholic lifestyle. Goodman employees rhetorical strategies to convey her attitude towards
Phil, that such a workaholic archetypes have unfulfilled lives, defined by their work. Goodman
uses descriptive diction to highlight and satirize the lifestyle and choices of the character Phil.
Are concrete language within her definite description of Phil and his life makes a double
emotional appeal, for she both mocks Phil s life path and creates sorrow with a respectful
mourning facade. Goodman characterizes Phil as Type A, a workaholic who was fifty one
years old and overweight , to appear on the surface as a normal, successful person, but her
attitude is revealed to be critical of the true Phil. Goodman s word choice builds Phil to be a plain
man, which she then uses to convey her message that a workaholic lifestyle takes over one s life

Charles Dickens Hard Times and David Lodge s Nice Work Fact, fact, fact, everywhere in the
material aspect of the town; fact, fact, fact everywhere in the immaterial. Charles Dickens In the
early 1851, London staged the Great Exhibition to show the world, the achievements and inventions
of the Industrial Revolution. Many people believed that this showed how much better, safer and
healthier Britain was than its neighbours in Europe. People living in mansions amid lawns and

In many ways Dickens was viewed to denounce the Capitalist ethic. However never to found to be
Communist/ Marxist it can be stated he was merely anti materialistic. He felt the social injustice,
which was created due to the heavy industry. Most of the mechanized account and in particular p.20
creates such an impression on the reader to think this. Dickens believed that this was a brutal world
where everything is measured by figures in a Gradgrind gospel of Fact . He has written a satire
against the foundation and the constitutions of Industrial Society. A uniformly monotonous
description is used, much like the movement of machine where products are continuously churned
out . The language used in this chapter holds no complexity. It translates simply to the author s
purpose; generating a cold mocking account a satirical bite . This is the main thematic contrast of
the two texts. We find Lodge is very unclear in who is denounced, what the author feels about
society. It is very difficult to gauge what the author thinks about the deindustrialisation of Britain in
the 1980 s. Therefore we find the passage to be very much gentler in comparison, Lodge is not
hostile to the West Midlands. Lodge mainly writes with a dry informative tone throughout most of
the narrative. At times his writing can be said to quite tedious. There obviously must be much more
to this mundane tone than the writer s real style. It is

The Importance Of SIDS
According to a 2013 article in Pediatric Health Medicine, and Therapeutics, by Dr. Tara Ramirez
and Dr. Micheal Malloy, when SIDS was first defined, it was used as a catch all for any
unexplainable infant deaths. As the medical field advanced and more research was conducted
lots of deaths where able to be diagnosed as infection, trauma, or connected to conditions related
to the heart, lungs, or central nervous system. .As studies have been conducted to try and find
the cause it has been determined that SIDS isn t any one illness or disease. Instead it s the
diagnosis given when a child under a year old dies suddenly and an exact cause can t be found
after an investigation of the death scene, autopsy, and a review of the child s medical history have
been conducted. What makes so devastating for families is that it happens without warning, and
really gives no closure or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has been found that any sleep position besides supine (on the back) increases the chances of
SIDS, whether it is on the stomach or on the side. (Oyen, 614) The rate of deaths from SIDS has
dropped about 50 percent since 1994, this is when the National Institute of Child Health and
Human Development and associated groups started the Back to Sleep campaign. A baby s risk
of SIDS has been found to be 1.7 to 12.9 times higher if a baby sleeps on their stomach instead of
their back. When a baby sleeps stomach down, their more likely to overheat, have inconsistency
in breathing, and rebreathe the air they have just exhaled, that lacks oxygen. Placing a baby to
sleep on their side is a bad idea also, since babies placed on their side can easily end up on their
stomach. By the time a baby is 6 months old they are able to roll themselves over, at this age
their risk for SIDS has begun to drop. Though it is recommended to do your best to get them
settled on their back, don t worry if the baby rolls

In Washington in 1982 there was a plane crash on the pentatonic river. A man repeatedly saved
other lives in the place of his own. Rosenblatt states The odd thing is that we do not even really
believe that the man in the water lost his fight. This man had so much courage and faith to put
others lives before his. This saying, he had a plan in mind, he followed through with it, and
achieved it so he did not lose the fight, he really won, and also shared his victory with others. He
gave up everything he had to give hope to others. Rosenblatt gave another point being, When the
helicopter took off with what was to be the last survivor, he watched everything in the world move
away from him, and he deliberately let it happen. One could think he was content with what he
had done. He sacrificed himself for the life of another life. This being said, the anonymous man in

Looking for a Job and Stories from Korcula Island
It is 2010/2011 the summer is on the front door and I m start to think about the job that I could
work this summer. I was start searching on a few places and talk with some people for some
free place to work and at that moment it seems that I will have a job, but I was not feel some
kind optimistic about them. Day by day I feel relaxed with the fact that I have some free time to
enjoy before I start with the job and that was a pretty good for me. As the time was passing, of
course no one of them still didn t call me as I expect, so it was obvious that I will need some
alternative to earn some money, somehow. I start to search again but now it was to late, because
everybody now have people to work for them. In one moment I feel like Im without options but I
new that at least I can count to work with my parents with apartments, and to be honest that is not
such bad. Everyday meeting new people from all around the world, you can learn something about
some other culture, mentality, and similar. On the Korcula island summeris the best partof the year,
there is a lot of people everywhere, a lot of event is going on and it is really great compared to
winter. The best day of the year is the 30. Of June, it is celebrating the half of new year and it is
at least three times better then anything else including the new year itself. We were already
prepared for that day, after all we new that it will come sooner or later so what we could do else
then to just use it to relax and enjoy

Gender Roles In Ancient Greece
In our culture, men and women are expected to act in certain ways during a sexual encounter, based
on their gender. During a sexual encounter, men are expected to be dominant and active, while
women are expected to be submissive and passive. The existence of gender roles has been a
constant theme throughout humanity. In Ancient Greece, sexual genderroles that resemble modern
sexual gender roles existed, but were not a 1:1 comparison with what we have today. Women in
ancient Greece were considered vastly inferior to men. Sexual relationships between men and
women only existed to bear children. Instead, older men had similar gender roles to men today,
while young, prepubescent boys filled the role filled by women today. In this relationship,... Show

MacKinnon believes that the first amendment, which guarantees freedom of speech, should not
protect pornography as it directly infringes on the freedom of speech of women. Censorship of
pornography, an act that would limit freedom of speech, would actually lead to a greater net
freedom of speech, as it would greatly boost women in society, helping to close the gap between
men and women.
MacKinnon s claims are not without fault. Much of MacKinnon s literature on the topic of
equality in regards to pornography was written in 1980, a time before internet pornography.
Internet pornography greatly increases the accessibility of pornography, which should, by
MacKinnon s logic, greatly increase the overall number of rape cases. However, this has not been
the case, as the overall number of rapes has steadily decreased since

Medical Law Coursework
Medical Law Coursework Name Institution Date Medical Law Coursework It is undisputable that
insufficient available organs to meet the demand of those on the organ donor waiting list have been
on the increase. If the government of the United Kingdom does not imaginably attempt to address
the problem, many more patients will die waiting for the available organs. Many approaches can be
used to access and maximize organ donation to the government of the United Kingdom and the
world as a whole. Organ transplant is a self motivated issue that should be considered under every
trend of growth and development in the medical sector. In order to access more organ donations to
alleviate the looming problems, many humanitarian activities and approaches should be put under
immense consideration. Voluntary selection Organ transplant is a volunteer activity that comes
from people who have the will to have their organs donated for further assistance to people in need.
There are many volunteer activities in the global. Further agencies and human movements have
always advocated for organ transplant willingness from the public. In order to access these
humanitarian activities, the govern of the United Kingdom should solicit for more humanitarian
movements that seek to educate people on the importance of donating organs for use in hospitals.
The government must increase spending in sensitizing the human societies to reveal ways of
challenging for further donations from the public

Dna With Natural Catalysts
The approach described above is novel and original because we are integrating the high level of
programmability of DNA with natural catalysts, which are very significant to progress in many
different scientific fields. Such integration enables coupling of enzymes to circuits that are capable
of decision making and self regulation, leading to an unprecedented level of control of catalytic
reactions. To achieve our objectives, we will develop methods to systematically design, model and
test both dynamic and structural components. We will also create software and mathematical tools
that can predict the dynamic behavior of individual catalytic modules and multi modular circuits.
When compared to existing techniques and protocols for multi enzyme reactions, our system has
multiple advantages: (1) Multi enzyme reactions typically require laborious purification after
each step and this can also result in loss of valuable sample. By sequestering enzymes within a
crystal and then activating each enzyme one after another in proper order, we can avoid
purification steps between each reaction. Leakage of enzymes from crystal lattice can be pre
vented using semi permeable blockades that will block enzymes by will allow the substrate to
pass in and out. (2) Enclosure inside crystal lattices will provide additional stability and protective
cover to sensitive enzymes, thus keeping them active and stable for longer periods of time. (3) In
case of multi enzyme reactions, sequestering all

  • 2. Earle Dickson s Inventions In 1920, Earle Dickson made an invention that would change every parent s, child s and chef s life; the band aid. Earle s wife was a bit of a klutz and she frequently burned or cut herself while cooking. One day after an especially bad cut, a lightbulb went off in his head. He had a brilliant idea. He cut patches of gauze and applied them to strips of adhesive tape, which he then covered with the fabric crinoline. Dickson worked at Johnson Johnson, and he thought that everyone there would be impressed with his new invention. Sure enough, when he pitched the idea, his boss loved it. For almost 100 years his invention has helped millions of people, and most importantly me. Like Mrs. Dickson, I have been clumsy for nearly all of my life. When I was a child, I fell down and started bleeding somewhere on my body seemingly every day. For me, living without the band aid would have been terrible. My first instinct was to wash my hand with cold water, apply Neosporin, and cover it with a big band aid. A few days passed and the pain lessened. I knew it was time to remove the band aid but I was scared to see what was underneath. In a moment of bravery I yanked it off and to my amazement the band aid came through and my hand was healed. • 4. Essay On Thomas Jefferson A Hypocrite Is Thomas Jefferson a Hypocrite or Not? After writing the Declaration of Independence, and saying All men are created equal, Jefferson continued to own slaves of his own. Before, and after writing the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson said many cruel and offensive things to describe a runaway slave. He is greatly addicted to drink, and when drunk is insolent and disorderly. (Slavery, 1) Following his rude and offensive descriptions, he offered a reward for the one to find the missing slave. Jefferson is seen to be a big hypocrite to many and in many ways, by the choices he did not take when he should have. When Jefferson was making the poster that was offering a reward for the runaway slave, he should have thought it through, and put himself in the slaves spot, before trying to say malicious and irrelevant things about them. Would Jefferson have wanted to be treated like those slaves were? Would Jefferson have ran away, if he was that slave? Many thought that Jefferson did not try to stop slavery, because he might have had sexual intercourse with some of his slaves. Would that stop you from stopping slavery? But that is not the most valid reason Thomas Jefferson is seen to be a hypocrite. The most valid reason Jefferson was known as a big hypocrite, is because he wrote the Declaration of... In Ovid s the Metamorphoses, Pythagoras discusses a variety of beliefs including the four ages of man, autogenesis, and vegetarianism. The four stages of man as described by Pythagoras states, that the year displays four aspects, passing through them, in a semblance of our life. Each season represents a different aspect of man. Spring is a delicate time of year full of new beginnings and hope. Summer is described as powerful, rich, and expansive. Fall is the time between youth and age. Pythagoras believes(VOTH) that flesh is the diet of a beast and that only a beast is not full until it eats the flesh of another. He says that creatures that want to kill us should be killed, but not eaten. Pythagoras calls eating animals for food wicked and says those who eat meat not worthy of crops. While although I do feel pity for animals and cruelty done to them by humans, I am not a vegetarian. It is necessary to eat meat to consume certain proteins needed by our bodies. A couple of days later, Maria sent back the credit application with a signature that appeared to be under her name. Bob shipped the supplies thereafter awaiting Maria s payments which never came. Bob later sued Maria for payment collection, but Maria denied ever signing the paperwork and claimed that all credit documents were referred to her receptionist. Is Maria liable? In this case Maria is considered as a disclosed principal and Maria s receptionist is her agent. A disclosed principal is defined as a principal whose identity is known by a third party (Clarkson, 2015, p 644). FTC being the third party in this situation, recognizes Maria as a principal and recognized her receptionist as an extension of Maria s authority. By referring credit documents and inquiries to her receptionist, Maria is granting her receptionist implied authority to process credit documents on her behalf (Clarkson, 2015, p. 643). Although Elzweig s research may seem trivial, it is in fact crucial in terms of today s concerns about the discrimination of tattoos in the workplace. While it is true that there are laws that protect others from discrimination against gender, race, sexuality, etc., it does not necessarily follow that one has protection from the discrimination against tattoos. Society has come to a realization that a difference in someone s skin should not change how others view or treat them, so why do people treat those who have tattoos differently than those who do not? Although it is granted that if one is being treated differently at his or her job it is considered employment litigation, one can take action and bring the situation to court. Nevertheless, when it comes down to dress code, the employer has every right to release those who don t respect the rules. As stated in Elzweig s quote, if a person who has a religion that requires them to have body modifications, they are protected by the law and they have the right to take the employer to court for employment discrimination if employee states otherwise. • 15. The Case Of Barnard V National Dock Labour Board Analysis on unlawful delegation: Unlawful delegation places a restriction on the decision maker to delegate their power to make significant decisions to third party entities or other individuals. It is unlawful to act under dictation of a public body that have been given the power to make certain types of decisions if that body have not been given the statutory power to delegate. This was clearly demonstrated in the case of Ellis v Dubowski where the High Court stated that putting the matter into the hands of a third person or body not possessed of statutory or constitutional authority is ultra vires. The scope of the power to delegate must be considered carefully and the courts will regulate the fairness of the decision and not interfere unreasonably with the decision making process. Another example of unlawful delegation can be seen in the case of Barnard v National Dock Labour Board. This case involved various rules that applied to dockworkers and the appropriate way to dismiss them. Dockworkers felt that the dismissal process was unfair and unlawfully delegated to the wrong decision maker. The dismissal should have been considered by a committee of people and not the port manager. The court held that this was unlawful delegation and the port manager had no statutory power to dismiss these workers. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The demand for Thorntons boxed chocolates follows a strongly seasonal pattern: 35 percent of sales are in the seven week period before Christmas, a further 10 percent are for Easter, including three million Easter eggs. The combination of providing a fresh product together with the need to meet a seasonal pattern of demand places particular pressures upon the company s manufacturing facilities. A proportion of the Christmas product is produced several months in advance, maintaining freshness through chilled storage. However, Thorntons chocolates are enrobed in chocolate, rather than moulded. Their hand made appearance makes the process of packing boxed chocolates less open to automation than is the case for moulded chocolates (with their more uniform shape an size) produced by companies such as Cadburys. This project will discuss nuclear weapons technology and its impact on the Treaty on the Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons, also known as the NPT (Nonproliferation Treaty). The Treaty covers three main pillars: disarmament, nonproliferation, and peaceful uses of nuclear energy. It was signed in 1968 due to concern that the safety of the planet was at risk by having a high number of nuclear weaponstates. After the United States bombed the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki using vastly destructive nuclear fission bombs, it became apparent that the States and possibly other countries could divert resources towards weapons rather than peaceful uses of nuclear energy. Thus, nuclear weaponry prompted the creation of the Treaty. Since the development of the first nuclear weapons technology by the Manhattan Project of the United States in 1945, nuclear proliferation has been a major global concern. The Manhattan Project was an undertaking involving the development of nuclear fission bombs, also known as atom bombs. Atom bombs use a hollow bullet of enriched uranium shot into a target made of the same element, initiating a nuclear chain reaction that releases vast amounts of energy. • 20. The Point Of Oil Production Essay I would like to discuss with you the breakeven point of oil production. Currently Saudi Arabia is one of the leading producers of oil in the world. However, it is losing its foothold on the market. Many countries, like North America, are increasing their oil production and are looking for ways to become less dependent on foreign oil. The increased competition has caused oil prices to decrease. By producing their own oil, countries not only will increase their revenues, but will also reduce their need to rely on foreign oil. By reducing their need foreign an oil a country does not have to worry that their oil supply will be cut off if they go to war. Another cause for the decline in oil prices is caused by an increase in consumers purchasing more fuel efficient vehicles, such as hybrid or electric vehicles. In many countries today, especially in North America, there has been an increased demand for fuel efficient vehicles. This is evident in TV commercials which are advertising more and more vehicles that get 40 to 50 miles per gallon, and by the ever increasing commercials for electric vehicles. Consumers are tired of paying outrageous prices for oil and are demanding more for their money. As this demand continues to grow, the demand for oil will decrease. Over the past few years oil prices have been dropping. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (eig.gov), a barrel of oil cost $86.07 on October 20, 2013. QUESTION The question that was proposed for investigation was: Do all factors change the rate equally? Background Discussion For this experiment you have to have a basic understanding of Collision Theory to understand what s going on in the experiment. Collision Theory is a model of chemical reactions in which a reaction occurs after a collision containing enough energy occurs between two reactant molecules. Iron started reacting after zinc and created some bubbles. Then slowly lead had produced a few bubbles and copper didn t make any (Lab Guide pg.2). Next in phase two of the experiment which was titled Concentration and that was steps 12 14. In this phase 3 wells were filled with different concentrations of 6m HCL. The first well contained 60 drops of water and 20 drops of acid. The second one contained 40 drops of water and 40 drops of acid and the final well contained 80 drops of acid. After each of the wells were stirred a piece of clean zinc was placed into each of them. Well three almost immediately produced smoke with a lot of bubbles. Well 2 reacted soon after with a lot of bubbles and lastly Well 1 reacted creating some bubbles (Lab Guide pg.3). Then in phase three which was titled Temperature and that was steps 15 18, clean zinc was placed in three different test tubes containing 5ml of 6M HCL, each of which was a different temperature. [http://www.deanstalk.net/deanstalk/2006/01 /the_theory_of_e.html] Competitive advantages give a company an edge over its rivals and an ability to generate greater value for the firm and its shareholders. The more sustainable the competitive advantage, the more difficult it is for competitors to neutralize the advantage. There are two main types of competitive advantages: comparative advantage and differential advantage. Comparative advantage, or cost advantage, is a firm s ability to produce a good or service at a lower cost than its competitors, which gives the firm the ability sell its goods or services at a lower price than its competition or to generate a larger margin on sales. A differential advantage is created when a firm s products or services differ from its competitors and are seen as better than a competitor s products by customers. Sexism In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar And Mirror In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar and Mirror, the protagonists, Esther Greenwood and Mirror s unnamed narrator, search for an escape from reality due to their current unfulfilled lives. Esther becomes alienated by American society in the materialistic 1950s, whilst the woman in Mirror reveals her fear of old age, which haunts her every time she looks within the mirror. Sylvia Plath lived in an era where the image of women [that] perpetuated throughout the 1950s was one of inequality (Young, 10). Exaggerated sexism permeated as a result of the masculine fear of lack of authority; this fear was planted in World War II. The bell jar mirrors Esther s entrapment and isolation, enabling Plath to communicate her rejection of the materialistic 1950s, which is only a component of the amalgamation of feelings she is experiencing. These emotions are reflected by the bell jar with its connotations of suffocation: If Mrs. Guinea had given me a ticket to Europe, or a round world cruise, it wouldn t have made one scrap of a difference to me...I would be sitting under the same glass bell jar, stewing in my own sour air (Plath, 185). Plath s constant reference to the stifling and sour air of the bell jar reinforces the impenetrable vacuum Esther is being sucked into, where isolation and worthlessness contaminate the air. The images that plague Esther during her descent into depression are designed by Plath so that they are understood to be poisoning her liberation, furthering the haze of the bell jar. One such image is when Esther As Esther experiences the awkwardness of Lenny s and Doreen s encounter, she felt [her]self shrinking to a small black dot against all those red and white rugs and that pine paneling. • 31. Persuasive Essay On Bullying When Will it Stop? What if you were terrified to go to your school every day? 160,000 students miss school each day because they get bullied and are scared of what will happen ( Bullying Statistics ). Bullying has been a major problem in schools for far too long. Students should not be scared to go to a place that is supposed to be safe and where they can express themselves. Students that bully never get the punishment they deserve, which causes them to continue to act. When you go to school, you should know that if you are getting treated in a horrific way, the people who were treating you that way will get punished. Students who bully should be suspended from school. The bullies in schools never think they will get severely punished, so they don t stop. They think that they won t be caught and that bullying isn t a huge deal, but it is. Bullying causes students to not go to school, to feel alone, and to leave their school feeling worthless. If the bully were to be suspended, he/she would learn quickly that what they are doing is wrong in so many ways. They will realize that bullying can be the reason they don t get into their dream school or do something they love. On the other hand, victims of bullying don t come forward and voice that the have been taunted, teased, and tormented because they don t think the school will help them. 67 percent of students feel that their school doesn t hear about their bullying and doesn t do anything that will prevent it (Soard). A great number of bullies in schools go unnoticed because of this which will in turn, make them continue to do these hurtful things. Punishments that bullies receive are not harsh enough and need to be reconsidered if we want a change in our lives. Bullies not getting punished leads more students to get involved in these horrible acts due to peer pressure. Students feel like they need to bully to be popular or because everyone else does it. They don t realize that bullying other kids makes you look worse and can drive that student to never come back to school or do something even worse. If the students who started the bullying were caught and suspended, less students would continue the bullying. They would see the consequences that a bully got and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There, Thoth is considered to be the creator of the other gods, and therefore the world. It is said that Thoth, as an ibis, laid a cosmic egg by which the Ogdoad were born. His temple in Hermopolis is much like any other temple in Ancient Egypt: a walkway with sphinxes watching your every move, a pylon gateway that was guarded by obelisks and the statue of the pharaoh who founded the temple. Within the temple, one would find the open air court with columns all around, some reaching up to eight stories high; the inner sanctuary held the statue of the particular god worshipped at the site, which could only be accessed by the priests or the pharaoh. At the back of the temple, one might find the Chapel of the Hearing Ear , which was used by the regular people of the day. The only difference between the temples of Thoth and many of the other temples was that at his temples, there was often an ibis cult, where ibis birds were mummified after they died in order to appease the ibis headed Thoth. Ibis s were important to the god Thoth because he had the head of an ibis, and the hieroglyph for Thoth was in fact an ibis. The comparative study between CISC (Complex Instruction Set Com puter) and RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computers) has been a well known debate subject for many years. In the past, one significant development in com puter processor technology was the RISC microprocessor. Many argued that RISC devices have offered significant advantages over their conventional CISC counterparts. A brief comparison of the main features of both RISC and CISC processors, as well as a more recent architecture trend, EPIC, are presented. Keywords: CISC, RISC, performance, MIPS, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These architectures have limited instruction sets built into the processor. As a result, fewer transistors have to be used in processor construction. Due to this evolution, more space is saved on the microprocessor. This results in a lower overall cost for the unit. However, RISC processors were initially favored for scientific purposes because these applications required a less large instruction set than general purpose computers. As time passed, there have been produced an increasing number of gen eral purpose computers using RISC microprocessors. These processors only use sim ple instructions that can be executed within one clock cycle. Participating in an extracurricular activity involves balance between the activity and academics while gaining positive impacts. Many people do not see or understand the importance of extracurricular activities. Critics might argue that extracurricular activities may harm student academic success, but what they do not realize is the benefits from extracurricular activities. The following argument started when the question was raised of how students were spending their leisure time and what they gained from their involvement. After school hours are the peak time for bad behaviors and crime for students. However, extracurricular activities provide a shelter for students for fun activities. Extracurricular activities contribute positively to student academic success by teaching responsibility, time management, and team building skills. Responsibility is a substantial skill developed from extracurricular activities that impact academic success. Responsibility promotes students to be held accountable for their actions. For example, students learn that they cannot always count on their parents. Students learn there will be times when they have to do things on their own and figure out life by themselves. Dickens believed that this was a brutal world where everything is measured by figures in a Gradgrind gospel of Fact . He has written a satire against the foundation and the constitutions of Industrial Society. A uniformly monotonous description is used, much like the movement of machine where products are continuously churned out . The language used in this chapter holds no complexity. It translates simply to the author s purpose; generating a cold mocking account a satirical bite . This is the main thematic contrast of the two texts. We find Lodge is very unclear in who is denounced, what the author feels about society. It is very difficult to gauge what the author thinks about the deindustrialisation of Britain in the 1980 s. Therefore we find the passage to be very much gentler in comparison, Lodge is not hostile to the West Midlands. Lodge mainly writes with a dry informative tone throughout most of the narrative. If the government of the United Kingdom does not imaginably attempt to address the problem, many more patients will die waiting for the available organs. Many approaches can be used to access and maximize organ donation to the government of the United Kingdom and the world as a whole. Organ transplant is a self motivated issue that should be considered under every trend of growth and development in the medical sector. In order to access more organ donations to alleviate the looming problems, many humanitarian activities and approaches should be put under immense consideration. Voluntary selection Organ transplant is a volunteer activity that comes from people who have the will to have their organs donated for further assistance to people in need. There are many volunteer activities in the global. Further agencies and human movements have always advocated for organ transplant willingness from the public. In order to access these humanitarian activities, the govern of the United Kingdom should solicit for more humanitarian movements that seek to educate people on the importance of donating organs for use in hospitals. The government must increase spending in sensitizing the human societies to reveal ways of challenging for further donations from the public ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Dna With Natural Catalysts The approach described above is novel and original because we are integrating the high level of programmability of DNA with natural catalysts, which are very significant to progress in many different scientific fields. Such integration enables coupling of enzymes to circuits that are capable of decision making and self regulation, leading to an unprecedented level of control of catalytic reactions. To achieve our objectives, we will develop methods to systematically design, model and test both dynamic and structural components. We will also create software and mathematical tools that can predict the dynamic behavior of individual catalytic modules and multi modular circuits. When compared to existing techniques and protocols for multi enzyme reactions, our system has multiple advantages: (1) Multi enzyme reactions typically require laborious purification after each step and this can also result in loss of valuable sample. By sequestering enzymes within a crystal and then activating each enzyme one after another in proper order, we can avoid purification steps between each reaction. Leakage of enzymes from crystal lattice can be pre vented using semi permeable blockades that will block enzymes by will allow the substrate to pass in and out. (2) Enclosure inside crystal lattices will provide additional stability and protective cover to sensitive enzymes, thus keeping them active and stable for longer periods of time. (3) In case of multi enzyme reactions, sequestering all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Whole Group Observation Throughout the learning segment, students will be given opportunities that will support, individual, small group, and whole group instruction. On the first day of the learning segment, the students will be given a classroom survey that consists of asking six questions where they will work whole group. With each question, they will be creating a fractionwith the data they collect. Upon completing their survey, the students will work independently to complete a bar model chart using the fractions/data collected from the survey. If there are any students who are not understanding the activity, I will be walking around during this time to assist. The students will also be permitted to talk in their groups to solve any issues that arise. There... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, I have tried to incorporate all types of learning styles too. For visual: we are watching a YouTube video on fractions, for audio we are repeating a riddle, for kinesthetic we are getting up and putting ourselves on the number line. The end of each lesson is an EXIT Ticket to allow for any changes or preparations to be made for the next day. After the third learning segment, that EXIT Ticket will be the ...
