25 April
Lest we forget
What is Anzac day

Anzac Day occurs on 25 April every year.
It commemorates all New Zealand and
Australian soldiers killed in war. ANZAC
day also honours returned servicemen and
      women that survived the war.
The Landing
    The date marks the
anniversary of the landing of
New Zealand and Australian
  soldiers on the Gallipoli
  Peninsula in 1916. Lots of
soldiers did not even make it
      out of the boats.
The Red Poppy
The red Poppy has become the
    symbol of war remembrance.
    People in many countries wear
the poppy who died in war and
also for the people that still
   serve. NewZealand & Australia
pin poppies into their tshirt and
wear them for around a week.
The red Poppy

The red Poppy (or Flanders poppy) has
linked with battle field deaths since the time
of the the war . The plant was one of the
first to grow and bloom in the mud in the
               Flanders field
Ceremony
    DAWN SERVICES
Every year on the 25 April
the day begins with a march
  by a service before the
   dawn to the local war
    memorial. Military
 personnel and returned
  servicemen and women
form up the memorial joined
    by members of the
       community.
