  (ANZAC) who fought at
  Gallipoli in Turkey during World
  War 1.

  Zealand soldiers shared
  characteristics and the qualities these
  soldiers had was shown on the
  battlefield in World War I

  to recall the end of the war in 1918.

        battlefield deaths was a natural symbol to
        show resurrection and remembrance dates back
        to the Napoleonic Wars when poppies were
        the first plant to grow in the churned up soil
        of soldiers' graves in the area of Flanders.
