why) I came across a
sachet labeled
"Pop Neve".
I tried out what it said on the
"Pop Neve".
packet, and I had an idea of
using it for my homework. I
made a video recording what
affect it had. If you add water
to the white powder in the
packet, it expands and gets
cold. It got me to thinking...

HECK IS IN THAT
STUFF?!

however, what ingredient is
added to make that effect.
Apparently the ingredients are secret, but I have a
pretty good idea of what it is...

6. Sodium Bicarbonate.
Sodium bicarbonate, or NaHCO3, or
baking soda, is a white powder which I
believe was added to the Pop Neve.
Although after further research I found
that the water DISSOLVES the
powder. Therefore there must have
been another chemical added to create
the growing effect. If you added vinegar
to it, well, that would cause it to bulge
and explode (Teehee). I know that
proper sodium added with water would
cause it to explode (literally) but sodium
bicarbonate would dissolve.

It couldn't have been sodium because that explodes
literally in a dangerous way, sodium bicarbonate would
dissolve, so it must be something that acts the same
way as vinegar being added to the sodium bicarbonate.

question.

10. What was the chemical
compound that was not
sodium or sodium
bicarbonate?

11. But there is some kind of
trickery with what is in the
Pop Neve, as it shouldn't
react like that IF it was
sodium bicarbonate.
This is where I got an idea with the gelling agent.

contained something to
cause it to expand?

added chemical was...
Sodium Polyacrylate.

on google and came up
with a page called "How to
make fake snow".
Well
duh.

15. According to the page I
found, it is non toxic, cool
to the touch and lasts for
days.
This must have been Pop Neve.
