3. INTRODUCTION
• Graphology is the analysis of the physical characteristics and patterns
of handwriting claiming to be able to identify the writer, indicating the
psychological state at the time of writing, or evaluating personality characteristics. It
is generally considered a pseudoscience.
• examination of handwritten documents are occasionally referred to as graph
analysis.
• Graphology is used to know psychological characteristics of the people through
preparing a comprehensive report by reading the lines and strokes of their
handwriting (Fisher et al., 2012).

4. HANDWRITING
• Handwriting analysis also called graphology, is scientific .The pattern of
characteristics – potentials, traits, talents, strengths, weaknesses, emotions,
orientations, intellect, values, and physical well- being – that make up the
complex human being are all encoded in handwriting every time pen is put to
paper

5. ELEMENTS OF HANDWRITING
• . Handwriting is comprised of many diverse elements – various strokes, such
as I dots, hooks, t-bars, and loops – connected together to form letters,
words, and sentences.

6. TYPES OF GRAPHOLOGY
Handwriting experts say there are basically five types of handwriting (Barrett, 1995 :
• 1. Even all around: where your handwriting is even and common at all places in
the page.
• 2. An overly wide left margin where your handwriting wider when you begin on
the line thinning while extending on the end.
• 3. An overly wide right margin which is opposite of the second type.
• 4. Too wide all around is the fourth kind where you write bolder giving wider
space between words and spaces revealing the pressure within you and
• 5. Narrow lower margin which shows you’re afraid or confused.
6
9. USES OF GRAPHOLOGY
Has been used in a number of diverse fields, such as (Havel et al.,. 1985,
Ward 1985, Bawdon 1993, Okamura et al.,. 1993);
• psychology
• employment
• education
• medicine
• criminal detection
• marriage guidance
• commerce and
• recruitment 9
10. IMPORTANCE OF GRAPHOLOGY
• Provides a vital approach to understanding ourselves and others.
• Signs of illness and stress can be detected long before the writer is aware of
them.
• Counselling and therapy can be made more relevant and effective.
• Useful in recruitment, potentially avoiding expensive mistakes.
• Evidence can be provided helping a therapist identifying how a person
responds to a therapy.

11. THE 'I’ AND THE 'T'
The letters 'I’ and the 'T'create a pause in your hand- writing, because it is
usually necessary to lift the pen from the paper to form the dot or the cross
stroke. They can reveal your state of mind and your attention to detail (Craze,
1998).

17. GRAPHOLOGY AND PERSONALITY
PHYSICAL WEAKNESS
• Weak pressure
• No crossing of the 't' in the case of round writing
• Descending lines.
POOR MEMORY
• Large breaks inside words
• Leaving out of letters and words
ANXIETY
• Trembling features, irregular
• Non- rhythmic writing
EXCITABILITY
• Writing with a heavy slope to the right
• Irregular size of letters, 't' stroke sloping upwards
• First letters of words with a long rising stroke.

18. GRAPHOLOGY AND PERSONALITY
cont’d…….
DEPRESSED CHARACTER
• Small writing, weak or too heavy pressure
• Descending lines
• Disconnected writing
• Large spacing
• No starting strokes.
LACK OF SELF CONFIDENCE
• Small writing
• Weak pressure
• Descending lines
• Stow writing
• Degeneration of middle lengths
• Low crossing of the 't' and dotting of the 'i'

20. C0NCLUSION
• The purpose of identifying personality traits through manual way of handwriting analysis and the
current technology (automatic handwriting analysis through computer) available for such process.
• Identification of personality traits through handwriting samples can be done both by humans
and by machines. Handwriting helps the detection of the personality traits in different areas. The
characteristics of a person can be guessed by looking at his/her handwriting.
• Graphology can be use for gender detection by analyzing handwriting and to observe what
results it will present and which criteria affect the analysis if it is possible. Through investigating
and analyzing the data retrieved from the sample’s handwriting and it helps to detect the gender
of the author by analyzing the data collected from the handwritings and combining the science
of graphology and modern technology.
