Haja Amina Appi was a Filipino master mat weaver from Bongao, Tawi-Tawi who was born in 1925 and died in 2013. She was a member of the Sama indigenous people and was renowned for her colorful pandan mats featuring complex geometric patterns that demonstrated her precise design skills, use of proportion and symmetry, and sensitivity to color. She received the National Living Treasures Award in 2004 from the Philippines in recognition of her artistry and gentle teaching approach that respected her community's weaving traditions.
