My Year At The Winner City Pool
In my eighteen years of my life, this summer has by far been the most memorable. It was filled
with many great memories during these past three months. This summer was filled with a lot of
fun, excitement, nerves, and sadness. Summer started one week early, but other than that it was
pretty much the same as every other summer. I spent a lot of my time working, with my friends and
family, and in the gym.
This year was my fourth year working as a lifeguard at the Winner city pool. Every year I have
worked, we only had to jump in for kids around three times the whole summer, and this year we
jumped in over ten times. I had to jump into the deepest part of the pool, which is twelve feet
deep and grab a little boy who started sinking after he jumped off the diving board. It was not
hard because he was light and I could just grab his arm and pull him to the ladder but it was very
scary, and I was a little shaken up afterwards. Also this year I did my third year of private
swimming lessons. Usually I give around ten to twelve lessons a summer and this year I doubled
that and had twenty seven kids for lessons. Lessons were very hard to schedule this year since I
was so busy so working at the pool and teaching kids basically consumed my whole summer.

Laying in my bed, I can hear gunshots firing off outside my window. In the morning on my

I always heard growing up, Great things can emerge from small beginnings . My mom made sure
that my 4 sisters and I know that. Being a child of two ministers, my family has experience working

On the times/days of both my observation, I walked in, ordered my (light bulb) mint lemonade,
and took a seat on the inner most, and consequently also closest to the cash counter corner table
(made for 1 2 people); then I set my timer. At these times, I didn t use my phone (except for timing
my observations), put in headphones or any other such activities that would distract me from the

During both my observations I saw several varieties of people, most wearing scarfs and sweaters
(truly embracing sweater weather . The first time around I witnessed two girls, seemingly on a

noticed was that everyone would pose their drinks for pictures, whether due to the ever growing
phenomenon of taking pictures of your food, or just due to the light bulbs I cannot be too sure.
Something that surprised me about my first visit was that, yes as expected there were mostly

How Is Antigone A Tragic Hero
The play Antigone by Sophocles shows the main character, Antigone, as a tragic hero. In the play,
Antigone wants to honor her brother, Polyneices, who died on the battlefield, by burying him
properly. Yet, Creon forbids anyone to bury Polyneices or the punishment is death. In this situation,
Antigone shows that she is elevated, basically good, has a downfall from fate, and struggles
heroically, making her a tragic hero. Antigone as a tragic hero demonstrates that even in ancient
times heroes were admired and commonly talked about in stories, even to this day. In the play,
Antigone has an elevated place in society. Antigone and her sister Ismene are daughters of Oedipus,
and nieces of Creon, the king of Thebes. Oedipus saved the city and this allowed for his daughters
to have higher social rankings. When Oedipus saved our city and then again When he died and you

Antigone knows the punishment for burying her brother is death, but she is selfless and still
buries Polyneices. Antigone expresses her dedication and love to Polyneices by saying, I myself
will bury him... I shall be A criminal but a religious one. The time in which I must please those
that are dead Is longer than I must please those of this world. (ll 82 87). Shortly after burying him,
Antigone takes her own life, not wanting Creon to win the war over Polyneices body. Antigone s
suicide prompts a string of deaths caused by grief from Antigone s passing, allowing Creon to
realize what courage and selflessness Antigone possesses through committing suicide for her values
and devotion to her
