OneAccess and iLab.t
OneAccess at a Glance Design and develop multi-service access routers, carrier Ethernet access devices and IP migration products Focused on Service Provider’s needs for managed services Over 120 Service Provider Customers 4 of the 5 largest European Service Providers use OneAccess 26% market share of EMEA branch office router market Over 380 employees 50% dedicated to R&D in 3 design centres – Paris, Leuven, Bangalore
Financial performance Revenues (M€) Revenues by product line Plan Annual 2010
How to start up a new technology? DSP group is modem design center for Analog Devices, but wants to broaden his competences R&D sees opportunities in sensor networks How to convince sales, marketing, board of directors for investment? Technology is new & promising, but no direct ROI Market is not directly our current market Needs quite a lot of investment
Our roadmap in 6 steps Step 1: participation in IBBT- projects Gives a broader view on the possibilities of the technology Lets us understand the State of the Art Shows to marketing and sales people some possible use cases via the demonstrator phase Step 2: Funding via IWT Funding will lower the risk Allows investment in coop with research partner Triggers marketing involvement through valorization requirement
Step1: Need for iLab-t In the WBA project, there was a need to test the technology on a larger scale Need for test in larger networks Need for interop testing Need to compare different protocols This investment is not possible for OneAccess For that reason: Strong participation in a number of IBBT projects Heavy supporter of ILab-t
Step2: Deus Our objective was to develop a gateway between sensor cloud and IP-world iLab-t was used to develop a stable sensor cloud, to test the deployment, easy configuration, stable sensor network, IDRA Gateway and end-to-end data delivery was tested in this environment.
Step 3: GreenWeCan We will develop our own sensors (together with Bausch) and integrate them in a city environment iLab-t will allow to benchmark the new developed products and protocols For that, we will integrate our own products in iLab-t for integration testing (Contiki, ADI based radio’s)
Step 4 : future? Test bed should be expanded to real-life environment to find solutions for: Integration in a city environment with problems of power harvesting, changing radio conditions To find solutions for integration in existing infrastructure (dust bins, parking spots) It should be nice to have an iLab-t in a real city environment
Thank You!
