If you haven t got room for two of us, neither of us will start. (John Francis Dodge)
John Dodge stated that because he has worked with his brother for years and he will not work
without him. They were a very close family but they would not have anybody with the last name
Dodge working in their factory. Another Great Quote From John Dodge would be, I am tired of
being carried around in Henry Ford s vest pocket. (John Francis Dodge). For the longest time they
worked for Henry ford until Ford pulled the reigns back on the brothers. The Dodge Brothers made

their first car and it was a major success. The organization produced automobiles for the United

there is no end in sight. The company continued to grow and even singed contracts with the military.
The Chrysler company continued to use the dodge name and they also produced a company
named Jeep. The legacy of the name jeep was well known in the military they used them through
the use of World war II. The legend was named Jeep Willys the production began in November of
1940. The jeep was shown to the army and they loved it. The Jeep was a short wheelbase four

Difference Between Principle Based And Rule Based Regulation
Q1. Outline the difference between Principles based and Rules based regulation. The main
difference between principle based and rule based regulation is the level of detailed instruction
involved. Rule based is a strict manner in how a body should behave, whereas principle based
regulation, is a guideline, leaving the body with some freedom on how they comply with it. This
distinction may not be clearly defined. While in theory, the difference between both systems may
be clear cut, in practice, they may overlap, or a system may have to adopt a mixture of both rule
based and principle based regulation, Rules may become more principle like through the addition
of qualifications and exceptions, whereas principles may become more rule like by the addition
of best practices and requirements . Principle based regulation involves a more broad approach
than rule based. This involves moving away from reliance on detailed, prescriptive rules and
relying more on high level, broadly stated rules or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They express the fundamental obligations that all in the industry should observe. However, a
principle based system can become more rules based when best practices and requirements are
introduced to give more certainty. Principle based systems require more effort from the subject
party. For the basis of evaluating the consequences of a principle based system for managers and
regulators the paper BLACK, J. HOPPER, M. BAND, C.. (2007). Making a success of Principles
based regulation. is worth examining in detail.
The above study is quite relative to the question at hand. It looks intensely at the Financial
Services Authority (FSA) in the UK as they look to move regulation from a rules based system to a
more principles based one. The study also investigates the factors they believe necessary to make
the implementation of this more principle based system

A Study On New Guinea
New Guinea is located in Indonesia, which is situated between Asia and Australia. Papua is a
country which occupies the eastern half of New Guinea and is not a very well explored country,
geographically, or culturally. A small tribe of about 3000 people occupies a remote and rural part
of the southeastern side of the island and they are known as the Korowaitribe. The Korowai people
were discovered in Papua New Guineain 1974. This tribe along with many other tribes in Papua
New Guineaexperience little to no contact with other tribes or outsiders. The Korowai tribe is
unique because they are one of the few tribes on Earth that are still believed to practice
cannibalism. Even though they were only discovered in 1974, they are believed to... Show more

The tall treehouses serve the purpose of protecting the children and women from capitation by
other clans for slavery or cannibalism (Gros, n.d). Wooden barriers around the treehouses
protect children. Yes, the Korowai people have practiced cannibalism, according to
anthropologists. Emily Payne, a publisher in the Daily Mail, says anthropologists suspect that
cannibalism is no longer practiced by the Korowai clans, despite reports of it as recently as 2006
(Payne, 2015). A reporter for the Smithsonian magazine named, Paul Raffaele, visited the
Korowai tribe in New Guinea to find the truth about their cannibalism. He reported that, today
the Korowai are among the very few tribes believed to eat human flesh. They live about 100
miles inland from the Arafura Sea, which is where Michael Rockefeller, a son of then New York
governor Nelson Rockefeller, disappeared in 1961 while collecting artifacts from another Papuan
tribe; his body was never found. Most Korowai still live with little knowledge of the world beyond
their homelands and frequently feud with one another. Some are said to kill and eat male witches
they call khakhua.

Egg Drop Challenge Research Paper
You are twenty five feet or approximately seven meters in the air, plummeting to a concrete ground.
Your only protection is the vehicle in which you are sitting in. You will not survive based on luck,
but rather science. The Egg Drop Challenge is an Engineering Design Challenge, which will be
using the concepts of Force, Momentum, Gravity, and Energy. In partners of two we must create a
vehicle that can minimize the force of impact from a high drop while protecting the egg inside.
Nevertheless, these goals do not come without constraints. Not only must we complete this project
in exactly nine days, but we must also stick to the rules given. Such rules include; only using the
materials allotted, and the vehicle built cannot exceed the width or height of 60 centimeters. With
these constraints given, the participants in the challenge must make sure that their goals can still be
met. Like stated in the introduction, this challenge will not be completed by using plain... Show

how they look, though we also check how protective they are. This is because we want to make
sure that our phones will be safe incase of an impact. The main protection put in place, is the
system in a secure phone case, that allows it to absorb the energy from the crash. There are
energy absorbing systems in the sides of the phone case, which will keep the actual phone from
harm. The second product that faces similar would be a car. The main protection system in a car

Essay about World Peace is NOT Possible
Due to the nature of humankind, the imbalance in wealth and power, and diversity in culture and
religion global peace is not a genuine possibility. First, I will define human nature from a biblical
prospective. I will then examine the state of nature in the context of Glaucon and Thomas
Hobbes. Finally, I will draw on the literature of Immanuel Kant, and Jean Baudrillard. For the
greater good within us, we would all like to live in a world without war, a world where
competition is replaced by co operation and individual freedom. However, this will never be; it was
from the beginning of creation, that the internal violence or conflict within humankind was
manifested. Genesis 4:8, stated that, Cain killed his brother Abel... Show more content on

In the article titled, The spirit of Terrorism , by Jean Baudrillard, 2001, He captures the notion
that evil is everywhere and is an incomprehensible object of desire (pp.1). He further went on to
explain that war is horrific and demeaning to humanity but it has its contribution. Furthermore,
war ended, European supremacy and the colonial era, Nazism and Communism. I support this
argument, there is evil all around us, lurking in wait. Many would argue that with war comes
great suffering and pain, lost of lives, years of civilization has been wiped out with just a bomb
and individuals who survive war are often emotionally, physically, and psychological damage.
For example, when the U.S. dropped the bomb on Hiroshima. To rebuild a country to its original
state after a war takes years but there is just cause for war. Hence, in the context of war done to
achieve what is deemed as the greater good, we can draw on the example of eliminating Nazism,
European reined and the fall of Sadam Hussian. Indeed, many innocent people lost their lives but
the consequences of war are bloodshed and suffering. Glaucon myth, on the Ring of Gyges
revealed that all people are essentially egoistic and a good person is easily corrupted if the
opportunity presents itself. Even though this is a myth, I do believe it has a potential to be true.

Problems in pronouncing consonants include the inability to produce the th sounds in words such
as this and thin, the swapping of /b/ and /p/ at the beginning of words, and the substitution of /f
/ for /v/. Consonant clusters, such as in the words split, threw or lengths, also cause problems and
often result in the speaker adding an extra vowel: spilit, ithrew or lengthes.
In Arabic word stress is regular. It is common, therefore, for Arab learners to have difficulties with
the seemingly random nature of English stress patterns. For example, the word yesterday is stressed
on the first syllable and tomorrow on the second.
The elision (or swallowing) of sounds that is so common in spoken English is problematic for
Arab speakers, and they will often resist it. (Consider, for example, how the questions What did
you do? or Do you know her? are said in conversational English: Whatcha do? / Jew know her?)
This aversion to elision and the use of glottal stops before initial vowels are the primary reasons
for the typical staccato quality of the spoken English of Arab

A Lack Of Dignity By Ernest J. Gaines
A lack of dignity was shown throughout A Lesson Before Dying in the characters of Grant,
Jefferson, Miss Emma, Tante Lou, and Vivian. All of these characters in the novel struggled with
their lack of human morals which reflected on their impertinent actions towards themselves and
among others. The story takes place in the1940 s small Cajun town of Bayonne, Louisiana. In this
time period there was an abundance of racial segregation between african americanpeople and a
strong bias towards white people. This shouldn t be an excuse or reason of why there was very little
dignity throughout the novel. Furthermore, Ernest J. Gainesgives us plenty of examples of how
these characters showed this lack of dignity among themselves and others. Grant Wiggins, a
school teacher, is the most educated man in the community. He s been to the university and
came back home to teach at the same school that he went to growing up as a child. This is an
achievement of itself , and most of the people in his community show him lots of respect for
taking on this ruthless job. Unfortunately, his lack of dignity is shown by him seeing his work at
the school as being useless or unworthy. His perspective towards his own community is that
nothing ever changes and that all of these years of slavery had brought his people s advancement
to a sudden stop. Because of this feeling Grant shows several times in the novel that he wants to
leave town and start a new life somewhere else. He says in the novel,

The Evolution of Jousting Essay
The Evolution of Jousting
Picture, if you will, a knight in shining armor charging on his noble steed down the open stretch
toward his enemy. From his great helm, (Jousting Helmet) a detachable sleeve whips in the wind
at approximately 30 miles per hour. Just before the two knights meet, they each brace themselves
for the impact they know awaits them. The wood splinters fly, and one of the knights is knocked
from his steed, spilling his life s blood on the ground.
Jousting was a medieval war tactic that later evolved into a sport, testing skill in horsemanship as
well as balance and accuracy. Jousting has changed in its use over the years. It was once used in
battle, but is now mainly a competitive form of entertainment. ... Show more content on

The loser of the battle lost his horse and the armor that he was wearing in the battle. The jousting
battlefield is now a soft arena, and what once was a battlefield maneuver, is now a sport that draws
paying spectators from all over to see a piece of the past relived.
One of the largest changes from the medieval times was the reason for jousting. At one time knights
used jousting, sword fighting and other weapon use to protect the church, but it also became a part
of a judicial tool. Jousting was used in judicial Duel and trial by combat. In the Knighthood,
Chivalry Tournament Glossary of Terms website they explained, Judicial Duel was generally fought
between combatants of knightly rank between the appellant and the defendant. A charge of
dishonorable conduct underlies the combat, fought to the death before judges. Not a tournament, it
is a form of trial by combat. Many of the surviving fechtbuchs (rules of sword fighting) seem to
describe techniques used in the judicial duel that would have been forbidden in the tournament,
such as piercing an opponent s foot with the butt spike of a poleaxe (Knighthood).
A webpage on what jousting is described it a little more in depth It was reasoned by contemporary
philosophers that God would defend the innocent party. Often kings invoked it to settle disputes;
Edward III challenged the King of France to combat between either two champions or 100 knights
per side, in a combat

Church as Institution and Church as Mystical Communion
Church as Institution and Church as Mystical Communion
In 1974 Dulles published Models of the Church to address questions concerning ecclesiology the
study of the church. Many people believe that they know the meaning of the church, which is a
place to become closer to God. However, there is more than what meets the eye when it comes to
the Church, since it is a very complex organization. Dulles book identifies and describes the
different functions the Church possesses which Jesus Christ founded and continues to oversee today.
He categorizes the models into five aspects: Church as institution, Church as mystical communion,
Church as sacrament, Church as herald, Church as servant, and lastly his new model Church as
community. In this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dulles states, It picks up the biblical theme that God has fashioned for himself a people feely
communicating his spirit and his gifts (50). The Body of Christ as stated in Dulles is, the main
point of mutual union, concern and dependence of the members of the local community upon one
another, (43). The body of Christ will only function is the whole community is willing to work
together to reach a personal growth in their relationship with God. Now that we have an idea of
what Church as mystical communion consists of I will discuss the strengths and weakness of this
model. The strength of this model is that emphasizes a shared life with the community instead of
shutting them off. This is a strength because when people come together as a whole everything
holds so much more meaning and people can form a stronger bond with God, now that it is much
more personal and voluntary. Another strength is that this model improves people spirituality and
prayer life now that they feel that personal connection that they formed. A weakness of this model
is that it creates unsure relationship between the visible and invisible, since Grace allows people to
get closer to God through the invisible such as communion while the visible structure like
institutionalism tries to emphasize their power over the whole people. I have discussed what the
models mean, their strength and weakness of each so now I will note the difference and

It was during the late half of the eighteenth century that would experience a series of turbulence
across the Atlantic World. In a time that can be called an era of revolution, the Atlantic World faced
a multitude of uprisings. The American Revolution in 1765 would be the start of the age of

the French Revolution in 1789, the Haitian Revolution in 1791, and later the Latin American

Muslim Women
The Western media disregards the faults in the Western culture and religion by falsely depicting
Muslim women as oppressed and living very uncomfortable lives. The Western media criticizes the
way women dress and states that it is a sign of female submission. They believe that women wear
the hijab to show that they are submitting to the Muslim patriarchs and the teachings of the Qur an.
Furthermore, Muslim women are portrayed as oppressed and abused by their husbands. Through
this portrayal, the Western media limits domestic violence to the Islamic culture and religion, which
is completely incorrect. In addition, Muslim women are considered helpless and voiceless in the

The Western culture disregards many factors that prove that this statement is a fallacy. The
Western media spreads false generalizations of Muslim women around the world, which results
in society believing in these fallacies. In crime dramas such as CSI or Criminal Minds, Muslim
women are almost always represented as victims of male domestic violence; women s
appearances in police films or television shows were often cut short by a male who asserts that he
is in change. (Media Portrayals of Religion: Islam). These kinds of television shows are examples
of the way that the Western media depicts Muslim women as helpless and abused. These kinds of
generalizations suggest that the Western media believes that Muslim men are more superior to
Muslim women. The media disregards that fact that this issue is not limited to the Islamic culture
because it is also an issue in the Western culture and religion. Furthermore, domestic violence is
not and will never be limited to just the Islamic religion. This is proven by the statistic that On any
given day in Canada, more than 3,300 (along with their 3,000 children) are forced to sleep in an
emergency shelter to escape domestic violence. Every night, about 200 women are turned away
because the shelters are full (The Facts about Violence against Women). This statistic shows that

Angela meets this particular requirement because of the delusions and hallucinations features
and her current need to be hospitalized because of the threat she is hearing from the voices to

Criteria D notes that the physiological effects of the episode must not be attributed from
substance use. According to the narrative, Angela does have history of alcohol use and
marijuana use but the narrative adds that her current behaviors do not seem to be related to the
episode. Additional v/z codes include topics that I would want to bring up in counseling. For the
code relating to Angela s personal history of self harm, I feel as if this would be one of the
primary topics that I would like to incorporate due to her tendencies to make suicidal gestures
with pills. I would like to explore more into her coping mechanisms and ensure safety nets for
future self harming thoughts and/or behaviors. I have also included the code relating to Angela s
psychosocial circumstances because I believe she is experiencing a clinically significant discord

Scene Analysis of Chicken Run Essay
Scene Analysis of Chicken Run
This essay will analyse three key scenes from the film Chicken Run. It will look at the characters
that are good and bad. In particular Ginger, the chicken who has the idea to escape from the
chicken farm on which they stay, and Mrs. Tweedy the owner of the chicken farm.
After many failed escape attempts the chickens are low on morale until a flying rooster from the
circus come to their rescue. But not everything runs smoothly and rocky the rooster can be
suspected of fowl play.
The first scene I am analysing is at the beginning where Ginger is escaping through a hole under

Also Mrs. Tweedy has a very sniggering tone of voice that just adds to the evil and sinister
character being quickly built up in the space of five seconds.
The use of dark and shadows in the scene really helps us with the idea of who is good and who is
bad. In this scene the lighting is particularly harsh as Mrs. Tweedy is backlit in an unfriendly and
somewhat disturbing manor. Her face is in shadow that gives off a very negative vibe to her as a
person.
The costume in this scene is very simple; Ginger simply wears a green knitted hat possibly, knitted
by Babs. Where as Mrs. Tweedy s clothing is quite contradictive as she is dressed in a pink dressing
gown and a pink frilly nightdress. Her face is in shadow so she looks garish and very cold hearted.
In this first scene we are quickly led to the assumption that Mrs. Tweedy is the boss and the
chickens are small and unimportant. We get a good guide as to who is a good character and who
is a bad character.
I n the second scene I am analysing is where Mrs. Tweedy is patrolling up and down the lines of
chickens who are stood arranged in whet can only be described as military style rows.
Many are stood quaking on the spot scared witless . The different styles of cinematography in this
key scene really help the audience to see the

The Effects of Black Death
The Effects of Black Death
Black death was a bubonic plague, which took the lives of millions of people in the mid 1300s.
This plague was caused by a bacterium called Yersinia pestis, which lived in fleas. Therefore,
transmitting the bacteria to its rodent hosts every time they would feed. The bacteria then killed
the rodents leaving the fleas without hosts to feed on and in result they would feed on the
humans. (Bailey 7 12) Most people who were infected would last two to three days before they
died, no longer than two to three weeks. The plague moved rapidly, medical researchers believe it
could have moved as fast as eight to twelve miles a day. The plague was first encountered in China
and it spread through Asia and into Europe in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His justification was that his wife was old and she would cause no suspicion. (212) The standards
and requirements of the Church had lowered tremendously. Placing men in high places whose
intentions were immoral. The priests knew the demand there was for them therefore, they raised
their fees to make more money. The fees had gone so high that the people began to complain to the
archbishop of Canterbury Simon Islip, an he in response issued the constitution Effrenata on May
28th, 1350, which it aimed to keep the priests from charging excessive amounts of money for their
services during the plague. The constitution was called Effrenata because that was the first word of
the document, which it meant, unbridled as in unbridled greed of the human race . Islip s intention
to help the people through the constitution of Effrenata did not have much success due to greedy
priests taking advantage of those in need. (Byrne 68)
Another aspect of life that was highly affected was society. During the plague and after the plague
society s values and faith began to change. When the Black Death began taking the lives of the
clergy just as well as everyone else, society began to wonder if the clergy were as powerful and
as united to God as they had once believed, because no matter their prayer the plague was still
raging. The people lost faith in the clergy and by the end of the plague the Church had lost its
authority, not only for the reason

Investigating Electromagnets Essays
Investigating Electromagnets
Aim: The aim of the experiment is to investigate what affects the strength of an electromagnet.
Hypothesis: The more coils and electricity the more powerful the electromagnet becomes.
Prediction: When the voltage of electricity is increased I think that the nail will have more
magnetism allowing it to attract more paper clips, because with more voltage going through the
circuit, it can then make the electromagnet stronger.
Variables:
Independent The independent variable which we can control is the amount of voltage we put
through the electromagnet. In this case we have to change the amount of voltage to 2, 4, 6, 8, 10
and 12 volts.
Dependant The dependant variable is the amount of paper clips ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
Conclusion: My results told me that as I raised the voltage the electromagnet gained strength and
attracted minimal paper clips, until I raised the volts to 8, 10 and 12 and that was when the
electromagnet really started to pick up a lot more paperclips.
The trend showed that for every volt of electricity generated it attracted approximately one paper
clip per volt. Therefore the trend showed that as the number of volts increased so too did the
number of paper clips it attracted.
Discussion: It would have a major affect if there were more turns in the wire because the more
times you coil the wire around the iron object the more electricity and power it gives the
electromagnet. The effect of changing the core would have possibly made the electromagnet
weaker because other metal aren t as strong as iron. The effect of increasing the voltage would have
made an electromagnet stronger because as mentioned above the more electricity and the more
coils you add the stronger you make the magnet.
Evaluation: It was confusing trying to set the equipment up because we had to change a lot of
things that were different to what our science book said because we didn t have enough equipment
to be able to do the proper experiment so we had to improvise.
There maybe some errors in my method with people understanding my explanation on how to do
the experiment because the instructions may be interpreted differently. In my

What Are The Benefits Of Lowering The Drinking Age
The legal drinking age has many high school and college students shaking their heads. Despite
the illegality of underage drinking, many youth still participate in the consumption of alcohol
before their 21st birthday. Underage drinking is not intrinsically wrong, rather it is criminalized
and misperceived because of current laws. Because the current law regarding underage alcohol
consumption is not working, maintaining that law is illogical and stupid. A simple solution to
this problem exists; the drinking age should be lowered to 18. Many benefits will occur if the
drinking age is lowered to the age a person is legally recognized as an adult, including an economic
boost, a decrease in dangerous drinking, and a decrease in illegal activity.... Show more content on

When people irresponsibly over consume alcohol, their judgement becomes impaired and they
are subject to be at a higher risk of injury. For example, binge drinking is the 5th biggest reasons
teens have to visit the hospital (3 4 Blau). With a lower drinking age, young adults would not
have to keep their alcohol consumption clandestine. This means that there would be more
available supervision and access to medical help should a circumstance warrant the need for it.
A lower drinking age would also make the topic of drinking less taboo which would allow people
to become more informed about the dangers of alcohol and help them learn to drink responsibly.
Another very important reason to decriminalize drinking under the age of 21 is to ensure that
anyone in need of medical help gets it, regardless of how inebriated they or their friends are.
Often, teens die from drinking because the people they are with do not call for help if an
unfortunate situation occurs. Generally, these people attempt to wait out a situation, much to the
misfortune of whoever is in need of help, because they fear the possible legal repercussions of
having drank. To prevent any person suffering any harm, it is necessary that the drinking age be

Much Ado About Nothing Double Entendre Analysis
Much Ado About Nothing is a comical 14th century play, written by the most influential play
writer of all time William Shakespeare. In 1598 and 1599 when this play was written, there were
merely two types of genres; comedy and tragedy. Hence, Much Ado About Nothing is classified as
a comedy, since no characters die, there is a happy ending and a comic hero/heroine. In the play,
Leonato arranges the hasty engagement of Claudio to his daughter, Hero. Don John appears to
also love Hero, and plots to deceive Claudio into believing Hero is cheating on him. As a result,
Claudio believes this delusion and decides to confront Hero at their wedding, causing Hero to
supposedly die from shock. Meanwhile, Hero convinces Beatrice that Benedick is an ideal
husband. The play comes to a joyful conclusion when Claudio marries Leonato s niece , whom is
really a reincarnated Hero. The lovers are reunited and Benedick and Beatrice also announce that
they will get married too. Shakespeare uses strategic and effective language techniques of double
entendre, dramatization and topical humour, to develop comedyin Much Ado About Nothing.
Double entendre is constantly present throughout Much Ado About Nothing and greatly develops
the audience s enjoyment. Double entendre is a word or phrase that can be interpreted in two
ways and have a suggested meaning. Before the play even begins, the title is a prime example of
double entendre. During the 14th century, nothing would have been pronounced as noting ,
meaning the characters are attentive to all the wrong ideas. It is debatable that nothing also
translates to women s genitalia, suggesting the play is practically Much Ado About Vagina s.
Furthermore, practically every line Margaret says in the play can be interpreted in two ways and
is an example of double entendre. More specifically, in Act III, Scene 1, Margret claims, I ll make
her come... Margaret is talking about seeking Beatrice for Hero, yet is really inferring to the
sexually explicit meaning of come/cum . For the audience, this double entendre is quite amusing
and consequently, significantly develops the genre of comedy in Much Ado About Nothing.
Practically every aspect of Much Ado About Nothing is over

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Using Refracting Telescopes
Refraction of light through different media
Light travels in waves through space in straight lines. In a vacuum the speed of light is 3x10вЃёm
/s, when light travels through different substances called mediums, it will change speed depending
on the optical density. If light travels through a medium at a right angle, it s velocity will change
but not the direction. However if light enters the medium at an angle, it s direction and speed will
change.
The index of refraction is the ratio of the speed of light in a vacuum to the speed of light in the
medium: n = c / v n = the medium c = the speed of light in a vacuum v = speed of light in a medium
(The index of refraction does not use any units)
For example, the refractive index of air is 1 and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Refracting telescopes are more reliable because they are permanently fixed which in turn makes the
images produced steadier and clearer
Disadvantages of Refracting telescopes
There are many disadvantages when using refracting telescopes. One of which is chromatic
aberration. Chromatic Aberration happens when light travel through the glass lens and the different
colours that make up white light refract at different angles. This causes the observer to see a
rainbow around the image they are viewing.
One way to counteract the effects of chromatic aberration is to use multiple compensating lenses.
Another way to avoid chromatic aberration is to use a long object focal length this is the distance
between the focus and the objective
Another disadvantage is the difficulty of making the lenses. The objective lens need to have no
imperfections and the shape of the lens is thicker in the center and thunder on the edges which are
the only support_ hoch manes the lens v ey fragile on the edges and are more susceptible to damage
the largest objective lens for a refracting telescope is only 1 meter in

Budget Justification For The Program
Budget Justification
The budget requested in this competitive renewal application is about 20% more than the current
budget. The primary reason for this increase is due to an increased expenditure in breeding
animals and animal service charges as we expanded the use of animals in the proposed grant. In
the past 4 years, employee salaries at the UT Heath Center were increased by about 10%. This
contributed a minor fraction of the increase. We used a 3% costescalation in preparing the budget

Advanced demand planning technology surpasses spreadsheet based efforts by calculating the best
possible demand prediction based on several inputs, including past performance of related products
or unrelated products that share key attributes in addition to any data generated by pre launch
market testing. According to Gartner, New product launch forecasting is overly reliant on sales and
marketing for demand inputs. Opportunities exist to remove forecast bias by utilizing attribute
modeling techniques and solutions that use similar product introductions to understand consumer
/ customer trial and repeat, as well as volume build assumptions, to improve the forecast. Sell In,
Sell Through, and Maturation The demand profile ramps up as introductory promotions,
advertising support, and word ofmouth combine to create an initial strong demand, then dips as the
sell through period gives way to the maturation phase, with its own promotions and marketing
programs attempting to shape demand over time. As the product life cycle unfolds, the demand
planning solution compares actual demand versus the forecast. Statistical matching algorithms can
be used to determine just how significantly actual demand has deviated from the prediction. The
predictive accuracy of other demand profiles can be compared, and when a different profile
provides a better match to the actual demand signal, it is swapped into play.

Although the firm has been working on maximum efficiency, Tom Mathis has come up with a
better solution to solve the problem. He plans to cut costs by purchasing supplies from overseas
sellers. Mr. Mathis knew that this strategy would have increased the cost and time of delivery. The
factory buyers should also take the time to investigate any potential new vendors. So he is using
information technology to implement the program and to improve the process of inventory
restocking. (Larenernest, 2010) However, workers have been so accustomed to the Kanban system
that it is difficult for them to change the system, so there is a high resistance to change among the
business. In addition, it is well known that Microsoft managed to reduce inventory levels and
increase production rates without significant investment in information technology. They settled
with the traditional method of trying to adopt new methods and many operating firms were
deliberately separated from the technology because the first thing the experts tell Kanban factory to
do is to disconnect the Material Requirements Planning System (MRP). MRP is a system used to
manage manufacturing processes in terms of production planning, scheduling, and inventory
control. This causes another problem for Mr. Mathis since the firm does not have the internal
resources needed to support the system that he wants to employ. (Carr, 2005)

The purpose of this essay is to compare three very similar cases, the Scottsboro Trials, Brown v.
Mississippi, and the fictional trial of Tom Robinson in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird; and to
prove why the defendant of the third trial never had a chance. Each took place in the rural South in
the 1920 s and 30 s and involved the unfair conviction of young black males by all white juries
pressured by the threat of mob violence. Each lacked the evidence sufficient for conviction, most
especially for the death penalty. Last, heroes emerged from each trial and made small but solid

The hero in this case was Judge Horton. Despite public opinion in the region, Horton overturned the

Same Sex Marriage Should Be Illegal
Must the Government Recognize Every Desire People Have as a Right?
Mohamed Salih
Howard University
Must the Government Recognize Every Desire People Have as a Right? Homosexual couples
believe that their relationships are as equivalent as heterosexual couples, so they should be
recognized and granted marriage licenses. I see gay marriage as a plague that only brings
unpleasant consequences to society. Same sex marriage should be illegal because it alters the
definition and the purpose of marriage, has negative effects on children, and is incompatible with
sacred texts. According to Genesis chapter 1, the definition of marriage is the intimate union and
equal partnership of a man and a woman. God created man in His image; in the Divine image he
created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them, saying: Be fertile and multiply;
fill the earth and subdue it. (Gen. 1:27 28) Same sex marriage activists want to define marriage
simply as a private relationship between two loving, committed parties; they want the same level
of recognition that heterosexuals obtain. The main purpose of marriage is procreation, which is
impossible to maintain with same sex couples. That s why marriage shouldn t be extended to
include homosexuals. Dana Mack wrote on the Wall Street Journal, Allowing gay marriage would
only further shift the purpose of marriage from producing and raising children to adult gratification.
(Mack, 2010) People who support same sex

Free Trade And International Trade
Free trade occurs when there are no artificial blockades put in place by governments to restrict the
flow of goods and services between trading countries. When trade barriers, such as tariffs and
subsidies are put in place, they protect domestic producers from international competition and
redirect, rather than create trade flows. This results in less productivity and competition. Free Trade
promotes international trade, multilateralism, and the development of lesser developed nations and
increases the standard of living. American opulence rests on the framework of global trade. Free
trade guidelines have created a level of contest in today s open market that produces persistent

The destruction created by these protectionist tariffs led succeeding U.S. administrations to
support free trade after World War II. Americans today do not sew their own clothes, grow their
own food, build their own houses, or buy only products made in their own states. It would simply
cost too much, since Americans can acquire such items on the open market with comparative
comfort and usually for cheaper prices. It makes economic sense to buy a product from another
who specializes in such production or who can make it more easily or for less cost. This does
mean that your local producers will have to compete with international competition and job
protection is not granted. Free trade encourages competition, spurring companies to innovate and
develop better products and to bring more of their goods and services to market, keeping prices low
and quality high in order to retain or increase their market share. Since companies must compete
with their overseas counterparts, American firms can take note of all the successes as well as the
failures that take place in the global marketplace. Free trade also spurs innovation. The U.S. market
has demonstrated repeatedly, particularly over the last decade, that competition leads to increasing
innovation. This is unmistakable, for example, in the intense competition to create the latest
personal computer at the lowest cost. In fact, America

Everyone Should Be Required To Participate While Attending...
Do you think it should be required for people to participate in some sort of physical education

Throughout my childhood, i was always a very avid sports fan, which in turn made me always

stated before, some people have certain restrictions that prevent them from either physically
being able or emotionally feeling confident enough to join in. Some people are perfectly content
learning about the field, but would rather not participate and that s OK with me. Who are we to
judge anyone? Triumph is in the hands of the beholder, if said person chooses to become
physically active, they can do so on their own regard. In closing, i believe people should not be
made to participate in phys ed if they don t want to. I believe people are subject to their own
feelings and opinions, and based off of the arguments stated above, i believe it would be easier for
people to chose whats best for themselves instead of an office of people that might not quite be in

Machiavelli s The Prince By Niccolo Machiavelli
NiccolГІ Machiavelli s The Prince is a book that examines the qualities and strategies required for
a ruler in order to maintain power. Despite being composed in the 16th century, the ideas presented
are applicable even to mythical kings from texts over a thousand years ago. Throughout the story of
Seneca s Oedipus, substantial connections could be made between Oedipus and The Prince s ideas
of rule, such as methods in acquiring principalities, channeling subjects fear, the use of cruelty and
controlling circumstance. In this essay, I will first talk about these ideas presented in The Prince,
then suggest how Machiavelli might evaluate the character, strategies, leadership, and fortunes of
Seneca s Oedipus. Based on these four factors, I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But I did unlash the knot of her enigma s webbed deceit, the grimly riddling song of the winged

Machiavelli might assess that Oedipus obtains his kingship of Thebes by solving the Sphinx s
riddle with his wits and wisdom. In spite of the danger he faces, he does not shy away from the
opportunity of saving the city. Although Oedipus experiences great difficulty in attaining power,
Machiavelli would have faith in his ability to maintain it, because Oedipus acquires his principality
through his own arms and ability.
Furthermore, Machiavelli presents ideas about the qualities that rulers should have in order to avoid
contempt in Chapter XIX:
What will make him despised is being considered inconstant, frivolous, effeminate, pusillanimous
and irresolute... He should contrive that that his actions should display grandeur, courage,
seriousness and strength. (Machiavelli 64)
In fact, Jocasta echoes these ideas in her advice to Oedipus as he is confronted with the plague:
Being king, I think, means this: coming to grips with what confronts you. The harder it is to stand,
the more power s burden slips and slides, the more determinedly you must take your stand. Be
brave!

Implementing Core Competencies Of The Strategic Planning...
Organizations must develop and execute strategic plans to ensure future company growth and
success. Assessing the internal and external aspects affecting a business is a key part of the
strategic planning process, as it provides a vector for organizations to maintain a competitive
advantage within a marketplace that is continuously evolving. Using quantitative data is considered
a best practice to begin an assessment by reviewing recent financial performance and objectively
determining the company s current financial condition (Abraham, 2012). Subsequently, innovative
organizations like Tesla Motorsmust apply methodologies to intimately measure subjective aspects
such as a company s competitive strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and potential threats. A
SWOT analysis is the operational method used to analyze these aspects (Abraham, 2012). The
purpose of the following project is to apply core competencies of the strategic planning curriculum
to inspire a culture of strategic innovation within organizational leaders of tomorrow. First, we will
take an assessment of Tesla Motors history, the company s current products, and major competitors
affecting the innovative company s business plan. Then, we can examine the current market
situation to determine any potential barriers to organizational success, before applying the
principles of a SWOT analysis to determine Tesla s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats
that may affect the future of the organization.

Foundation, 2012). In this essay, ideas have been challenged and there is a distinct argument about
the impact that PE can have on encouraging young people to engage in physical activity.

From 1992 until 2008, the different forms of the National Curriculum for Physical Education
have been focused around the notion of Sport and Performance. There was a strong emphasis on
competition and finding elite performers which may not be an ideal approach. Many children
dislike the competitive element of sport and would rather take part for personal or social
reasons. This wouldn t encourage young people to sustain physical activity levels as they may
not want to compete and have only seen physical activity in a competitive light. In 2008, the
new National Curriculum was launched and its priority was given to health and physical
activity rather than sport. This reduced the amount of competitive elements and made it more about
taking part. Some would say that the 4th NCPE was seen as successful as in 2007, 17% of boys
and 16% of girls aged 2 15 were classified as obese and this decreased as in 2009, 16% of boys and
15% of girls aged 2 15 were seen as obese (Statistics on Obesity, Physical Activity and Diet England,
2009 and 2011). This slight decrease could be down to the change in the type of activities offered
in school although it may not be the only factor. Giving young people the opportunity to set
personal goals rather than basing everything around competition would promote life long
participation in physical activity as they will get a sense of achievement from completing that
specific goal. However, this focus on health and

How To Fixing A Macbook Pro s RAM
Fixing a Macbook Pro s RAM is a simple task that can be done by anyone, and if it was fixed by a
store it would take a long time, and would cost a great deal of money. A RAM could be damaged
by excessively dropping your laptop, which causes the RAM to shift from its place or break. I m
the type of person that drops their laptop at least two times each week. Since I constantly drop
my laptop, my Macbook s RAM shifted from it s position. When I opened my laptop and tried to
turn it on, I heard 3 beeps coming from my Macbook s sound system. It led me to research about
what it means and how to fix it in a few minutes because I needed important documents from my
laptop. According to Apple Support, 3 successive tones, a 5 second pause (repeating)

How Does Shakespeare Use Deception In Othello
Othello is a play about suffering; every character in the play has some cruel compounce: not a
single being in the play escapes their harsh fate. Fate is the driving force of Othello, This is shown
through the ease of deception by Iago, the various religious influences spread throughout. as well as
the meta analysis present in most of shakespeare s plays. Deception is used throughout the play by
Iago, however it is not the driving force as said by Alyssa Brown. Othellohas the fairly typical
theme of deception. Self deception is also a theme (Alyssa Brown, Brown/A/Deception).
Deception does not exist in the play. The characters have no freewill and cannot be deceived. This
play uses deception wrong according to Shakespeare. Usually, Shakespeare uses deception to a
positive end of the players. When used in tragedies, Romeo and Juliet use deception to further their
love, although it does ultimately end with their deaths, it ends with the Montague and Capulet
families coming together. Shakespeare uses deception to a positive end. Othello does not. Out of
the six main characters, four are dead and the other two are maimed and fated... Show more content

Essay on Sigmund Freud
Sigmund Freud Sigmund Freud, physiologist, medical doctor, psychologist and father of
psychoanalysis, is recognized as one of the most influential thinkers of the twentieth century. As
the originator of psychoanalysis, Freud distinguished himself as an intellectual giant. He invented
new techniques and for understanding human behavior, his efforts resulted in one of the most
comprehensive theories of psychology developed. Freud was born May 6, 1856 in Freiberg in
Moravia (what is now Czechoslovakia) to his Jewish parents, his father Jacob who was a wool
merchant and his mother Amalia Nathansohn. His father Jacob was 20 years older than, Amalia,

Freud and Martha gave birth to six children, the youngest of whom, Anna, was herself to become
a distinguished psychoanalyst and founder of child psychoanalysis. Freud set up a private
practice to treat psychological disorders and gave him much material which he based some of
his theories. At first, Freud s theories shocked some of his colleagues. Some of Freud s most
creative work came at a time when he was experiencing severe emotional problems of his own.
When he was forty he had numerous psychosomatic disorders, such as exaggerated fears of
dying and other phobias. Freud continued to study and attracted support from few people such
as Jung and Adler who were themselves to make major contributions to the school of
psychoanalysis. Because of his controversial work, when Nazi storm troopers invaded the city in
1938, Freud was arrested in his home and held captive until his unsold books were burned
publicly. Upon his release a few weeks later, he moved to London, where he lived out the last
months of his life. In September 1939, Freud died of cancer at the age of 83. Some of his
accomplishments include the Interpretation of Dreams, written in 1900, which was to lay the
foundation for his research over the next forty years. It suggested that brain functions can be
divided into three categories: the Id, the Ego, and the Superego. The Id represents basics wants and
instincts and could be shown

Secrets In Romeo And Juliet
Secrets are essential to human social interaction. Whether we are being loyal to our friends or
sneaking out of the house, we ve all kept a few. Secrets are frequently mentioned in the infamous
Shakespearean play, Romeo and Juliet. Even the love of the two teenagers is kept a secret from
their respective families! However, some of these secrets contribute to the tearful deaths of Juliet
and Romeo. Sometimes, secrets should be told. Capulet and Montague secrets influence the play
in one way or another, yet it s known that they should ve been told. Sampson and Gregory, Capulet
servants, run across Montague servants in the town square. Is the law of our side, if I say ay? asks

For example, while Romeo courts Juliet, he doesn t tell his friends where he is. Go then, for tis
in vain to seek him here that means not to be found (Shakespeare 2.1.44 45), said Benvolio as
Mercutio and he search for Romeo after the Capulet s party. They discuss whether they should
continue looking for him, but are discouraged and quit. Romeo hiding away and keeping his
location a secret allowed him to court Juliet and for them to fall in love. Not sharing his
forbidden love gives Romeo the opportunity to love her without consequences, at least for a
while. He gets to be with his true love. However, this stance isn t completely supported in Romeo
and Juliet. When the Nurse discovers Juliet s sleeping yet appeared dead body, she exclaims,
Alas, Alas! Help, help! My lady s dead! (Shakespeare 4.5.15). Nurse didn t know about the plan
Juliet and Friar had to allow her to live happily live Romeo, leaving her unaware about the
sleeping potion that Juliet took. If Nurse knew about the plan, she wouldn t have to mourn her
beloved Juliet s death, though granted, she wasn t really dead yet. Regardless, if Juliet had shared
her scheme, Nurse wouldn t have had to mourn both Tybalt and Juliet. To finally refute, Juliet s
parents had just told her that she was to be married to County Paris. After they left, she cried to

Black Music and the Civil Rights Movement Essay
On July 5, 1954, forty nine days after the Supreme Court handed down the decision on the
Brown vs. Board of Education case, a nineteen year old truck driver recorded an Arthur Crudup
blues track called That s All Right Mama (Bertrand 46). Memphis disc jockey Dewey Phillips
found the cut and played it on his radio show a few weeks later. He received calls all over from
people, mostly white, who wanted to hear more. He quickly located the musician and brought him

In the Puritan world white represented good and black represented evil, including Africans and
their culture. After the War Baldwin states that the former puritanical views of whites will be
challenged. Musicians such as Elvis Presley were the first to issue this challenge to white
society. Early rockers such as Elvis would pave the way for social commentary in music that
would add much fire to the Civil Rights Movement. In order to fully understand the explosion in
popularity of black music in the years following World War II, one must understand the social
conditions in which blacks and whites lived in the American South. An article entitled Not Just
the Same Old Show on my Radio delves into the very issues behind racism. The article names
aspects necessary for social segregation to exist: 1.) There must be a stigmatism of the oppressed
group. 2.) There must be some sort of labeled interaction between groups. 3.) There must be a
hierarchy of discrimination. (Kloosterman, Quispel 152) In the case of the American South we see
evidence of the Baldwin s Puritan dicta in each of theses points. Obviously the stigmatism of the
African race gathers its logic from the belief of African inferiority. However, of importance at this
time will be the second criterion referring to labeled interaction between races. The labeled
interaction that these authors are referring to of course represents the South s

You cannot leave your home without hearing or seeing the monstrous vehicles tearing down the
road. Although these machines originated in America, it is common knowledge that foreign
made cars are much more reliable than any that America could create. One foreign company that
creates such vehicles is Honda, a company based in Japan ( Honda Motor Co., Ltd. ), and the
2004 Honda Pilot is the perfect example of a foreign car that surpasses American car company
standards in its dependability, size, and pricing. When searching for a new car, dependability is
one of the most important factors that people look for before making such an expensive purchase.

The Honda Pilot can withstand horrendous weather conditions for 12 years and still run as if it
were brand new, while its American counterparts only last 120,000 miles before requiring
significant repairs to keep it on the road. Its size makes it a great family car because it provides
ample amount of room for its passengers, mostly preventing the feelings of claustrophobia
during longer trips. Besides the large size of the Honda Pilot, another thing that makes it a
preferable family car is the addition of a DVD player in one of the models (AutoTrader.com).
Having a DVD player in a car can provide entertainment to the children, or adults, in the middle
and rear of car. This entertainment is a way to make sure that the children are happy and, if they
do not enjoy being in a car, distracted from the ride itself, preventing them from distracting the
driver. The Honda Pilot has proven that it is the more affordable SUV in comparison to its American

John Stuart Mills Theory Of Punishment
To me punishment is a phrase that is best learned by children and criminals. As we grow up in
life we learn what you can and cannot do by pushing it to the edge, seeing just how far you can go
before being punished. We push those limits through our school, peers, family, society or the
criminal justice system. When experiencing punishment in life, if bestowed correctly the teacher
will teach the student a life long lesson. This is why when an individual has done something
dishonorable he or she should be punished as quickly and close as possible to the time and or place
of the incident. If punishment is long delayed, the connection between it and the offense becomes
stained. It makes no sense to punish an individual who has behaved properly... Show more content

punishment fit the crime. But the punishment must be harsh enough to where the person does not

Firstly, most of the researchers need to interact with people during collecting data. As researchers
use tools such as questionnaires and interviews to collect data, they must interact with interviewees
during the process. Although both of them ask questions in different ways, they are able to arrive at
the desired answer through interacting with people.
Besides, although qualitative research used verbal data to proceed their research mainly, sometimes
numerical data is used. For instance, to determine how individual feels, opinion data is commonly
used in the progress in qualitative research, using numbers one to five to find how individuals feel.
It is a kind of numerical data since it produce numerical outcome, which researchers use to
summarize the research. In addition, researchers need to use numerical data to support their
hypothesis before conducting their research. If their hypothesis has no data to support, the
credibility of it will be limited. Therefore, numerical data will be used in both of the research to
support their argument.
Moreover, researchers need to use their own data to develop their research and support their
hypothesis. Although second hand resources may helpful to their research, it may be outdated or
not appropriate to the research. Hence, primary data is important for

rights of medication R. Crowdis is referring to are the right patient, right medication, right dose,
right route, and the right time (Archer, 2015, p. 394: Centre for Policy Agency, 2011). Every
medication must be scanned and if unable to, then notify the unit director and pharmacy of the

  • 3. Difference Between Principle Based And Rule Based Regulation Q1. Outline the difference between Principles based and Rules based regulation. The main difference between principle based and rule based regulation is the level of detailed instruction involved. Rule based is a strict manner in how a body should behave, whereas principle based regulation, is a guideline, leaving the body with some freedom on how they comply with it. This distinction may not be clearly defined. While in theory, the difference between both systems may be clear cut, in practice, they may overlap, or a system may have to adopt a mixture of both rule based and principle based regulation, Rules may become more principle like through the addition of qualifications and exceptions, whereas principles may become more rule like by the addition of best practices and requirements . Principle based regulation involves a more broad approach than rule based. This involves moving away from reliance on detailed, prescriptive rules and relying more on high level, broadly stated rules or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, a principle based system can become more rules based when best practices and requirements are introduced to give more certainty. Principle based systems require more effort from the subject party. For the basis of evaluating the consequences of a principle based system for managers and regulators the paper BLACK, J. HOPPER, M. BAND, C.. (2007). Making a success of Principles based regulation. is worth examining in detail. The above study is quite relative to the question at hand. It looks intensely at the Financial Services Authority (FSA) in the UK as they look to move regulation from a rules based system to a more principles based one. The study also investigates the factors they believe necessary to make the implementation of this more principle based system ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Papua is a country which occupies the eastern half of New Guinea and is not a very well explored country, geographically, or culturally. A small tribe of about 3000 people occupies a remote and rural part of the southeastern side of the island and they are known as the Korowaitribe. The Korowai people were discovered in Papua New Guineain 1974. This tribe along with many other tribes in Papua New Guineaexperience little to no contact with other tribes or outsiders. The tall treehouses serve the purpose of protecting the children and women from capitation by other clans for slavery or cannibalism (Gros, n.d). Wooden barriers around the treehouses protect children. Yes, the Korowai people have practiced cannibalism, according to anthropologists. Emily Payne, a publisher in the Daily Mail, says anthropologists suspect that cannibalism is no longer practiced by the Korowai clans, despite reports of it as recently as 2006 (Payne, 2015). A reporter for the Smithsonian magazine named, Paul Raffaele, visited the Korowai tribe in New Guinea to find the truth about their cannibalism. He reported that, today the Korowai are among the very few tribes believed to eat human flesh. They live about 100 miles inland from the Arafura Sea, which is where Michael Rockefeller, a son of then New York governor Nelson Rockefeller, disappeared in 1961 while collecting artifacts from another Papuan tribe; his body was never found. Your only protection is the vehicle in which you are sitting in. You will not survive based on luck, but rather science. The Egg Drop Challenge is an Engineering Design Challenge, which will be using the concepts of Force, Momentum, Gravity, and Energy. In partners of two we must create a vehicle that can minimize the force of impact from a high drop while protecting the egg inside. Nevertheless, these goals do not come without constraints. • 7. Essay about World Peace is NOT Possible Due to the nature of humankind, the imbalance in wealth and power, and diversity in culture and religion global peace is not a genuine possibility. First, I will define human nature from a biblical prospective. I will then examine the state of nature in the context of Glaucon and Thomas Hobbes. Finally, I will draw on the literature of Immanuel Kant, and Jean Baudrillard. For the greater good within us, we would all like to live in a world without war, a world where competition is replaced by co operation and individual freedom. However, this will never be; it was from the beginning of creation, that the internal violence or conflict within humankind was manifested. Genesis 4:8, stated that, Cain killed his brother Abel... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the article titled, The spirit of Terrorism , by Jean Baudrillard, 2001, He captures the notion that evil is everywhere and is an incomprehensible object of desire (pp.1). He further went on to explain that war is horrific and demeaning to humanity but it has its contribution. Furthermore, war ended, European supremacy and the colonial era, Nazism and Communism. I support this argument, there is evil all around us, lurking in wait. Many would argue that with war comes great suffering and pain, lost of lives, years of civilization has been wiped out with just a bomb and individuals who survive war are often emotionally, physically, and psychological damage. For example, when the U.S. dropped the bomb on Hiroshima. To rebuild a country to its original state after a war takes years but there is just cause for war. Hence, in the context of war done to achieve what is deemed as the greater good, we can draw on the example of eliminating Nazism, European reined and the fall of Sadam Hussian. Indeed, many innocent people lost their lives but the consequences of war are bloodshed and suffering. Glaucon myth, on the Ring of Gyges revealed that all people are essentially egoistic and a good person is easily corrupted if the opportunity presents itself. Even though this is a myth, I do believe it has a potential to be true. Take the military, marine, and the navy for example, both men and woman, have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Problems in pronouncing consonants include the inability to produce the th sounds in words such as this and thin, the swapping of /b/ and /p/ at the beginning of words, and the substitution of /f / for /v/. Consonant clusters, such as in the words split, threw or lengths, also cause problems and often result in the speaker adding an extra vowel: spilit, ithrew or lengthes. In Arabic word stress is regular. It is common, therefore, for Arab learners to have difficulties with the seemingly random nature of English stress patterns. For example, the word yesterday is stressed on the first syllable and tomorrow on the second. The elision (or swallowing) of sounds that is so common in spoken English is problematic for Arab speakers, and they will often resist it. (Consider, for example, how the questions What did you do? or Do you know her? are said in conversational English: Whatcha do? / Jew know her?) This aversion to elision and the use of glottal stops before initial vowels are the primary reasons for the typical staccato quality of the spoken English of Arab ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. A Lack Of Dignity By Ernest J. Gaines A lack of dignity was shown throughout A Lesson Before Dying in the characters of Grant, Jefferson, Miss Emma, Tante Lou, and Vivian. All of these characters in the novel struggled with their lack of human morals which reflected on their impertinent actions towards themselves and among others. The story takes place in the1940 s small Cajun town of Bayonne, Louisiana. In this time period there was an abundance of racial segregation between african americanpeople and a strong bias towards white people. This shouldn t be an excuse or reason of why there was very little dignity throughout the novel. Furthermore, Ernest J. Gainesgives us plenty of examples of how these characters showed this lack of dignity among themselves and others. Grant Wiggins, a school teacher, is the most educated man in the community. He s been to the university and came back home to teach at the same school that he went to growing up as a child. This is an achievement of itself , and most of the people in his community show him lots of respect for taking on this ruthless job. Unfortunately, his lack of dignity is shown by him seeing his work at the school as being useless or unworthy. His perspective towards his own community is that nothing ever changes and that all of these years of slavery had brought his people s advancement to a sudden stop. Because of this feeling Grant shows several times in the novel that he wants to leave town and start a new life somewhere else. He says in the novel, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Just before the two knights meet, they each brace themselves for the impact they know awaits them. The wood splinters fly, and one of the knights is knocked from his steed, spilling his life s blood on the ground. At one time knights used jousting, sword fighting and other weapon use to protect the church, but it also became a part of a judicial tool. Jousting was used in judicial Duel and trial by combat. In the Knighthood, Chivalry Tournament Glossary of Terms website they explained, Judicial Duel was generally fought between combatants of knightly rank between the appellant and the defendant. A charge of dishonorable conduct underlies the combat, fought to the death before judges. Not a tournament, it is a form of trial by combat. Many of the surviving fechtbuchs (rules of sword fighting) seem to describe techniques used in the judicial duel that would have been forbidden in the tournament, such as piercing an opponent s foot with the butt spike of a poleaxe (Knighthood). A webpage on what jousting is described it a little more in depth It was reasoned by contemporary philosophers that God would defend the innocent party. Often kings invoked it to settle disputes; Edward III challenged the King of France to combat between either two champions or 100 knights per side, in a combat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Church as Institution and Church as Mystical Communion Church as Institution and Church as Mystical Communion In 1974 Dulles published Models of the Church to address questions concerning ecclesiology the study of the church. Many people believe that they know the meaning of the church, which is a place to become closer to God. However, there is more than what meets the eye when it comes to the Church, since it is a very complex organization. Dulles book identifies and describes the different functions the Church possesses which Jesus Christ founded and continues to oversee today. He categorizes the models into five aspects: Church as institution, Church as mystical communion, Church as sacrament, Church as herald, Church as servant, and lastly his new model Church as community. In this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dulles states, It picks up the biblical theme that God has fashioned for himself a people feely communicating his spirit and his gifts (50). The Body of Christ as stated in Dulles is, the main point of mutual union, concern and dependence of the members of the local community upon one another, (43). The body of Christ will only function is the whole community is willing to work together to reach a personal growth in their relationship with God. Now that we have an idea of what Church as mystical communion consists of I will discuss the strengths and weakness of this model. The strength of this model is that emphasizes a shared life with the community instead of shutting them off. This is a strength because when people come together as a whole everything holds so much more meaning and people can form a stronger bond with God, now that it is much more personal and voluntary. Another strength is that this model improves people spirituality and prayer life now that they feel that personal connection that they formed. A weakness of this model is that it creates unsure relationship between the visible and invisible, since Grace allows people to get closer to God through the invisible such as communion while the visible structure like institutionalism tries to emphasize their power over the whole people. I have discussed what the models mean, their strength and weakness of each so now I will note the difference and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a matter of fact, about all of the sugar and other commodities, such as molasses, that was being consumed in the United States had been imported from Haiti. The mass production of all the commodities did not happen by itself, but rather it happened due to the intensive labour of the slave population. The Western culture disregards many factors that prove that this statement is a fallacy. The Western media spreads false generalizations of Muslim women around the world, which results in society believing in these fallacies. In crime dramas such as CSI or Criminal Minds, Muslim women are almost always represented as victims of male domestic violence; women s appearances in police films or television shows were often cut short by a male who asserts that he is in change. (Media Portrayals of Religion: Islam). These kinds of television shows are examples of the way that the Western media depicts Muslim women as helpless and abused. These kinds of generalizations suggest that the Western media believes that Muslim men are more superior to Muslim women. The media disregards that fact that this issue is not limited to the Islamic culture because it is also an issue in the Western culture and religion. Furthermore, domestic violence is not and will never be limited to just the Islamic religion. This is proven by the statistic that On any given day in Canada, more than 3,300 (along with their 3,000 children) are forced to sleep in an emergency shelter to escape domestic violence. In this scene the lighting is particularly harsh as Mrs. Tweedy is backlit in an unfriendly and somewhat disturbing manor. Her face is in shadow that gives off a very negative vibe to her as a person. The costume in this scene is very simple; Ginger simply wears a green knitted hat possibly, knitted by Babs. Where as Mrs. Tweedy s clothing is quite contradictive as she is dressed in a pink dressing gown and a pink frilly nightdress. Her face is in shadow so she looks garish and very cold hearted. In this first scene we are quickly led to the assumption that Mrs. Tweedy is the boss and the chickens are small and unimportant. This plague was caused by a bacterium called Yersinia pestis, which lived in fleas. Therefore, transmitting the bacteria to its rodent hosts every time they would feed. The bacteria then killed the rodents leaving the fleas without hosts to feed on and in result they would feed on the humans. Hypothesis: The more coils and electricity the more powerful the electromagnet becomes. Prediction: When the voltage of electricity is increased I think that the nail will have more magnetism allowing it to attract more paper clips, because with more voltage going through the circuit, it can then make the electromagnet stronger. Variables: Independent The independent variable which we can control is the amount of voltage we put through the electromagnet. In this case we have to change the amount of voltage to 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 volts. Dependant The dependant variable is the amount of paper clips ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conclusion: My results told me that as I raised the voltage the electromagnet gained strength and attracted minimal paper clips, until I raised the volts to 8, 10 and 12 and that was when the electromagnet really started to pick up a lot more paperclips. The trend showed that for every volt of electricity generated it attracted approximately one paper clip per volt. Therefore the trend showed that as the number of volts increased so too did the number of paper clips it attracted. Discussion: It would have a major affect if there were more turns in the wire because the more times you coil the wire around the iron object the more electricity and power it gives the electromagnet. The effect of changing the core would have possibly made the electromagnet weaker because other metal aren t as strong as iron. The effect of increasing the voltage would have made an electromagnet stronger because as mentioned above the more electricity and the more coils you add the stronger you make the magnet. Evaluation: It was confusing trying to set the equipment up because we had to change a lot of things that were different to what our science book said because we didn t have enough equipment to be able to do the proper experiment so we had to improvise. There maybe some errors in my method with people understanding my explanation on how to do the experiment because the instructions may be interpreted differently. In my ... Despite the illegality of underage drinking, many youth still participate in the consumption of alcohol before their 21st birthday. Underage drinking is not intrinsically wrong, rather it is criminalized and misperceived because of current laws. Because the current law regarding underage alcohol consumption is not working, maintaining that law is illogical and stupid. A simple solution to this problem exists; the drinking age should be lowered to 18. Many benefits will occur if the drinking age is lowered to the age a person is legally recognized as an adult, including an economic boost, a decrease in dangerous drinking, and a decrease in illegal activity.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When people irresponsibly over consume alcohol, their judgement becomes impaired and they are subject to be at a higher risk of injury. For example, binge drinking is the 5th biggest reasons teens have to visit the hospital (3 4 Blau). With a lower drinking age, young adults would not have to keep their alcohol consumption clandestine. This means that there would be more available supervision and access to medical help should a circumstance warrant the need for it. A lower drinking age would also make the topic of drinking less taboo which would allow people to become more informed about the dangers of alcohol and help them learn to drink responsibly. Another very important reason to decriminalize drinking under the age of 21 is to ensure that anyone in need of medical help gets it, regardless of how inebriated they or their friends are. Often, teens die from drinking because the people they are with do not call for help if an unfortunate situation occurs. Mississippi, and trial of Tom Robinson in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird The purpose of this essay is to compare three very similar cases, the Scottsboro Trials, Brown v. Mississippi, and the fictional trial of Tom Robinson in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird; and to prove why the defendant of the third trial never had a chance. Each took place in the rural South in the 1920 s and 30 s and involved the unfair conviction of young black males by all white juries pressured by the threat of mob violence. Each lacked the evidence sufficient for conviction, most especially for the death penalty. Last, heroes emerged from each trial and made small but solid steps towards equal justice for all. ... The Supreme Court granted the Scottsboro boys new trials on the grounds that they did not receive adequate legal counsel. In this second round of trials, presided by Judge James E. Horton, Ruby Bates denied that she or Victoria Price had ever been raped (To Kill a Mockingbird: Then and Now). The hero in this case was Judge Horton. Despite public opinion in the region, Horton overturned the conviction of the jury, an unprecedented act. He wrote a thoughtful essay of the improbability of the crime and examined what evidence should have resulted from it. Very little of this expected evidence actually appeared and thus Judge Horton declared: It is therefore ordered and adjudged by the Court that the motion be granted; that the verdict of the jury in this case and the judgment of the Court sentencing this defendant to death be, and the same hereby is, set aside and that a new trial be and the same is hereby ordered. Mohamed Salih Howard University Must the Government Recognize Every Desire People Have as a Right? Homosexual couples believe that their relationships are as equivalent as heterosexual couples, so they should be recognized and granted marriage licenses. I see gay marriage as a plague that only brings unpleasant consequences to society. Same sex marriage should be illegal because it alters the definition and the purpose of marriage, has negative effects on children, and is incompatible with sacred texts. According to Genesis chapter 1, the definition of marriage is the intimate union and equal partnership of a man and a woman. God created man in His image; in the Divine image he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them, saying: Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. (Gen. 1:27 28) Same sex marriage activists want to define marriage simply as a private relationship between two loving, committed parties; they want the same level of recognition that heterosexuals obtain. The main purpose of marriage is procreation, which is impossible to maintain with same sex couples. That s why marriage shouldn t be extended to include homosexuals. Dana Mack wrote on the Wall Street Journal, Allowing gay marriage would only further shift the purpose of marriage from producing and raising children to adult gratification. When trade barriers, such as tariffs and subsidies are put in place, they protect domestic producers from international competition and redirect, rather than create trade flows. This results in less productivity and competition. Free Trade promotes international trade, multilateralism, and the development of lesser developed nations and increases the standard of living. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The destruction created by these protectionist tariffs led succeeding U.S. administrations to support free trade after World War II. Americans today do not sew their own clothes, grow their own food, build their own houses, or buy only products made in their own states. It would simply cost too much, since Americans can acquire such items on the open market with comparative comfort and usually for cheaper prices. It makes economic sense to buy a product from another who specializes in such production or who can make it more easily or for less cost. This does mean that your local producers will have to compete with international competition and job protection is not granted. Free trade encourages competition, spurring companies to innovate and develop better products and to bring more of their goods and services to market, keeping prices low and quality high in order to retain or increase their market share. Since companies must compete with their overseas counterparts, American firms can take note of all the successes as well as the failures that take place in the global marketplace. The question, over the years has been quite a hot bed for discussion and i will dig down the rabbit hole to provide my reasons why i believe not everyone should be required to participate, if they don t want to in physical education. Throughout my childhood, i was always a very avid sports fan, which in turn made me always very active. Despite being composed in the 16th century, the ideas presented are applicable even to mythical kings from texts over a thousand years ago. Throughout the story of Seneca s Oedipus, substantial connections could be made between Oedipus and The Prince s ideas of rule, such as methods in acquiring principalities, channeling subjects fear, the use of cruelty and controlling circumstance. From 1992 until 2008, the different forms of the National Curriculum for Physical Education have been focused around the notion of Sport and Performance. There was a strong emphasis on competition and finding elite performers which may not be an ideal approach. Many children dislike the competitive element of sport and would rather take part for personal or social reasons. This wouldn t encourage young people to sustain physical activity levels as they may not want to compete and have only seen physical activity in a competitive light. In 2008, the new National Curriculum was launched and its priority was given to health and physical activity rather than sport. This reduced the amount of competitive elements and made it more about taking part. Some would say that the 4th NCPE was seen as successful as in 2007, 17% of boys and 16% of girls aged 2 15 were classified as obese and this decreased as in 2009, 16% of boys and 15% of girls aged 2 15 were seen as obese (Statistics on Obesity, Physical Activity and Diet England, 2009 and 2011). This slight decrease could be down to the change in the type of activities offered in school although it may not be the only factor.
